1. Abomintion!!!!!!!
Phoenix ,   Israel   (01.09.11)
Disgusting!!!!!!!!!
2. YNET IS SICK!
yoni ,   tel aviv   (01.09.11)
I cannot believe how sick and disgusting ynet is to purposely publish stories of intermarriage. This needs to be publicized and the entire news company should be held responsible for attempting to brainwash the masses of Jewish readers that this is a good thing "you dont choose who you love" ynet will be held responsible for the myriads of divorces that will quote this line. "I fell in love with my secretary, what can I do?" "I fell in love with a 7 year old girl what should I do?" You are totally sick and will go to ...
3. What a sweet story
David ,   USA/Israel/Egypt   (01.09.11)
Like Israel have a shortage of Jewish good looking young man. The story writer needs to write grocery store love novels. As far as the young woman, it's her life , No body gives a damn about her sad story, who cares. Ynet give us real news
4. I've just lost my appetite for a week!
David ,   rsa   (01.09.11)
5. I wish them luck
C ,   Israel   (01.09.11)
Relationships are hard. For them it will be harder. But so what? Good for them for not caring. I wish the two societies would stop being so racist and judgemental.
6. Love is the only way to peace...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.09.11)
hate will only get you chaos and misery.
7. Who cares?
Dan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.09.11)
As they said with blacks marrying whites, and men marrying men, and women marrying women - if you don't like the idea of those kinds of marriage, don't have one yourself!
8. And if Rafiq wants a second wife?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.09.11)
It seems clear Rafiq cares more about his traditions (joining his parents in prayer at home) than Dana does about hers. So how will they raise their children? They will be nominally Jewish by Jewish tradition, but Muslim by Islamic tradition. And what if, some years from now, Rafiq decides he wants another wife, which accords with HIS tradition but remains prohibited (but unenforced) under Israeli law? Dana is also wrong about Bedouin riding "Hummers and the fanciest cars". I'm sure those are the exceptions as the Bedouin, due to large family size and often limited opportunities, are among the poorer sectors. What Dana expresses is the modern day "autonomy of self". In the face of those with a stronger sense of culture and identity, her kind does not last long. Just look at Europe.
9. They're adults and its their choice
Ilan   (01.09.11)
There have been so many examples of this ending badly. More often than not the women is forced to convert, and then is trapped in a very bad situation.
10. His mother is from Jenin?
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (01.09.11)
So how is his mother now living in Israel? How many wives does his father have?
11. Is Rafiq OK with his sister dating a Jewish man?
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.09.11)
and converting to Judaism, as Rafiq will demand of his Jewish girlfriend? Whenever such a crocodile tearing story is published it is always an Arab man dating a Jewish woman and never the other way around. Let's see how open minded is this Rafiq when his sister does the same. I know this because I am the Best World Affairs Expert in Training. My Tex-Mex Burrito Crystal Ball still informs me Obama reelected and it is always right even if Obama will not be reelected. It is all true, I only report the way I see it with 100/100 vision through Al Jazeera colored glasses 8000 miles away from Middle East. BLOODYTHIRSTY SCOT GREATEST EXPERT OF TEX-MEX BURRITOS, ENCHILADAS, FAJITAS, MIDDLE EAST, FAR EAST AND NOW HUMAN RIGHTS IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES!!!!!! DALLAS, TEXAS
12. Their children will be jewish
Yossef   (01.09.11)
that's fine with me. Welcome to the tribe Rafiq, and for both of you מזל טוב Don't miss the chance to be enjoy love and be happy!
13. They did not ask for our opinion
Uzidan ,   Ramat Gan   (01.09.11)
If I read the article and see many reactions, I get sad. No I do not approve this, but in modern society, do they need approvement? They have the right to live their lives. But it saddens me that she chooses for this, regardless of Halacha. But it is her choice. If there will be children al phi Halacha they will be Jewish. Will we spit them out. Chas we Sholem, we should not!! One of G'ds names is Rachamim; Al phi Halacha there will always be space for rachamim. I wish both a good and happy life WITH guidance from HaShem.
14. Why Ynet News are stupid these days??
Magued Hanna ,   Cairo, Egypt   (01.09.11)
Very stupid article really like the one who wrote it!
15. This is Great!
Shimon Z. Klein ,   Bat Hefer, Israel   (01.09.11)
This may be an example of bringing the two peoples together and it could mark the beginning of the end of the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict. After all, peace between human beings irrespective of race, colour and creed is to be encouraged. It is more important than preserving identities which promulgate hate. What better way than when two persons, Palestinian and Israeli are capable of falling in love. It ends stereotypes. However, it would be great if a Jewish man could fall in love with Palestinian woman that could end in matrimony. Unfortunately, according to Islam this is not allowed unless the man converts to Islam. Just a thought that is bound to be very controversial.
16. But As Long As He's a Secular Muslim, What's the Big Deal?
Nicole Czarnecki ,   B'Ha'Galut   (01.09.11)
Besides, he may end up converting to Judaism one day.
17. Always an arab man and ...
Jan   (01.09.11)
For once i want to see it going the other way around. But no its always the same an arab man and a jewish or nonmuslim women.I'd like to hear and see Rafig when he learns that his sister is dating a jewish man.Would she make it to Ynet to tell her story?I heard that the life expectancy of young muslim girls who have extramarital sex or sex at all (no matter with whom) drops to virtually zero
18. Rafiq's a Secular Muslim Because He Doesn't Hate Jews
Nicole Czarnecki ,   B'HaGalut   (01.09.11)
The Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox Muslims hate Jews. Rafiq is dating and living with a Jew, not to mention a slightly-older and educated woman; so that he's cohabiting with only a Jewish college student and not married to or living with young and uneducated child brides and concubines evidences that he obviously care about the Qur'an. Besides, Rafiq may well convert to Judaism or even (as any Messianic Jew (Jewish Christian) like myself would hope) Messianic Judaism (Christianity).
19. Why didn't they marry ?
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.09.11)
The could have gone to Cyprus and have had a marriage performed If they're proud of their relationship, they shouldn't be hiding it It's a shack up, nothing more
20. Ignorant Raymond #8, Sephardi Jews are also allowed 2 wives
David ,   Los Angeles   (01.09.11)
Before you use Islam permitting more than one wife as your excuse for opposing this marriage, learn something about Judaism too.
21. Still waiting to hear about an opposite story
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (01.10.11)
We constantly hear of relationships between Arab boys and Jewish girls. But when would we ever hear about a Jewish boy - Arab girl love story? Should I be searching the Sci-Fi section?
22. WOW!
Ninja   (01.10.11)
Casual sex turns into a love story.it happens casually, but sometimes it’s what its "one night stand"
23. what if it was vice versa and dana was dan and rafik - rania
h ,   h   (01.10.11)
the imams preach against muslim men dating jewish women - because the alternative dont even exist - a muslim woman dating a jewish man. when would jewish girls realize those men are mostly driven by scoring one for the team. rafiq says so itself "jewish woman are for casual sex" when have we become this way? so what if an arab guy gives you some attention - control yourself. just like my gramma did, my mother did and I do.
24. Good for them love is all you need
Avi ,   Israel   (01.10.11)
God luck to the young couple despite all those religious bigots who feel its their job to interfere in peoples personal lives telling them who they can and cant love. Wishing them the best of luck , they are an example to all of us.
25. Sh'mot 13:9
Christian Hart ,   USA   (01.10.11)
But my dear, it IS written on his forehead...and you would know this if you honored the Word of G-d. You don't know this yet...but this union will not bring you peace, and the odds are very high it will bring you intense suffering. You should have consulted an experienced elder who has traveled this path. Lust does not conquer all, there is much more to a marriage and union of two people than the fleeting lusts of youth.
26. he-he, how long will this last?
alex   (01.10.11)
27. Nick Sporeck, Ynet, and all the Jews
m   (01.10.11)
Yes, assimilation (love American style) is the only way Israel can self destruct. I wonder if Nick Sporeck has a daughter or a son who will bring home an Arab and proclaim that they will convert to Islam how much will he talk about love, stars and rainbows Israel is on its way down with the media's help.
28. #18
Rami   (01.10.11)
Nicole I'm an orthodox Muslim and I would marry a Jewish woman and Islamically there is nothing wrong with a Muslim man marrying a Jewish woman without her having to convert and not a single imam in the world can tell him it's forbidden by Islamic law. Arab is an ethnicity and Judaism in a religion. It's like comparing apples to oranges, so one can't say it's a Jew versus Arab thing. But what I do not approve of here as an orthodox Muslim is the premarriage relationship. Propose to her and stop this life of adultery.
29. Intermarriage doesn't necessarily bring peace.
(01.10.11)
Every conflict has its own specific circumstances. But Sarajevo had the highest percentage of mixed marriage between Muslim Bosniaks, Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croatians. It is hard to find not-mixed Bosniak, Serb, Croatian or Albanian in former Yugoslavia. But intermarriage didn't stop them from torturing and killing each other. Cities like Sarajevo, Serebrenica and Mitrovica were symbols of intermarriage and love, but they turned into mass graves for Bosniak Muslims. Another note, this Rafiq guy openly says that he is not planning marriage with his Jewish girlfriend. So what is the point of living together? Is she just a cheap flink for him before he gets married to his Arab/Bedoin family arrangement wife?
30. David in LA
Dovid ,   Israel   (01.10.11)
Er...ever since the Decree of Rabbeinu Gershom (about 700 years ago) polygamy has been forbidden by all streams of Judaism. PLEASE learn something and quit embarrassing yourself.
