A stable PA government is necessary. Sure there's a chance the PA could "go rogue" but without a stable govt no one stands a chance. Democracy is something that has to come from the streets not the US. One of the biggest mistakes the US made in Iraq was trying to push democracy on a country that was not ready for it. The US might like the idea of democracy but they must let individual countries find a system that works for them be it democracy, dictatorship or monarchy. The United States has decided already that, with crude oil becoming too expensive, it's time to shed some excess baggage. What do the Arabs want? They want the US to end all ties and military support for Israel. The US will get cheap crude oil in exchange for 1) ending all diplomatic relations with Israel, including and end to military aid, 2) barring all trade and donations to Israeli charities and 3) barring North American Jews from leaving North America. Iran is under sanctions because it is enriching uranium AND has declared its intention to destroy a number of countries as soon as possible. The rest of the world is just acting to protect its own survival. Israel has never sought to wipe out its neighbors only to live in peace and safety.
