Iron Dome was a biggest waste of money made by the Israeli government in modern times. After the humiliation of Lebanon in an attempt to try and improve his image he took around $300 milion+ and said to the Israeli companies dream something up. It had to be Israeli made to boost the feel good factor so even if there was a foreign alternative it was not an option. Then we got regular updates about how wonderful it was Iron Dome was only about 3 years away. Iron Dome has zero use in war as each interceptor cost $50,000 and that doesn't even include the main system itself of which we need many more than 2 batteries of. Even with US help we will still be spending the bulk of the military budget on interceptors if we are going to use it to protect the country in wartime. Developing this thing was a waste of Israeli taxpayer money and spending money to buy a couple of batteries is a waste of US taxpayer money. Best thing to do now is kill the program & sell the patents to recoup some of the money wasted on its development.

You remind of General Shwarzkopf. On January 24, 1991 he mocked Israelis because they were worried about Scud rocket attacks on the civilian population. On February 5, 1991 28 American soldiers were wiped out by a Scud. Think: the "Iron Dome" is useless for most of Israel's needs. It is very useful for the US to protect their military bases in occupied countries. That is why the US agrees to pay for it.

Iron Dome was a solution that was "almost ready" back in 1995 and used as a reason to hasten Israeli retreat from Lebanon. It was used again with faked videos in 2000 and in 2011 its still not ready? The US already has a battle proven system in Phalanx. Iron Dome can hit a $10 mortar or $15 rocket out of the air for less cost. The US would never buy something that is battle proven to to work for our own troops
