1. Stay segregated if that's what you want...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (01.24.11)
.... and pay your own way, too. Live by your own laws, and don't shove them on the rest of us.
2. Yes and we all so prefere seperation
Mr Secular ,   Tel aviv   (01.24.11)
Preferrbly is the the harideem to could move to Tehran.
3. Who's the anti-semite, Haredim or non-Haredim?
Walter Lebowski ,   Russia   (01.24.11)
4. Surprised that it's only 61%
chaim   (01.24.11)
when the majority of secular especially leftists are heartless, narrow-minded, prejudice and just plain racists against haredim or religious Jews.
5. "traditional lifestyle"
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (01.24.11)
Since when is living in a segregated manner and devoting oneself completely to Torah studies considered "traditional"? In eastern Europe, most of the Charedim worked and studied Torah. Only those men with wealthy father-in-laws could afford only study of Torah. Currently, in the USA, although isolated from neighbours, most Charedim work, earn an honest living and study Torah. In Israel, everything's upside-down. It's not "tradition".
6. Neo-Shatel
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (01.24.11)
Perhaps the Haridim wish to return to the shetal. Good idea send them to live in a European style shetal where they will have to fend for themselves instead of living off everybody else..
7. # 4 chaim - gee i wonder why that is
Avi ,   Israel   (01.25.11)
DUH !
8. Good.

Let them live on the moon. @chaimn, #4: "when the majority of secular especially leftists are heartless, narrow-minded, prejudice and just plain racists against haredim or religious Jews." Right, because Haredim are so goddamn loving, tolerant, open-minded and inclusive.
9. INTEGRATION OR REMOVAL
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.25.11)
All citizens of Israel must live under one law, serve the country and be served by it equally. Every minority in Israel must be treated equally, just as it is under the law in the U.S.A.. If Israel has not yet formulated its Equal Rights declaration, it should do it right away. Citizenship is a contract between the State and each and every one of its citizens. The citizen is obligated to obey the law and serve the State; to be integrated or be deprived of Citizenship. I interpret the survey's results to mean that majority of the Haredim don't want to be citizens of Israel. The same as the Ultra-Orthodox who travel to Iran and declare loyalty to the enemies of Israel. Israel should move to remove those Haredim from the country after a trial in the courts of the State.
10. A few facts
Shalom Hartman   (01.25.11)
Using Modiin Elite as an example: It is 100% hareidi (although that covers many different stripes and levels of commitment) It has won prizes for cleanliness, road safety, fiscal management and industry It has balanced its books every year without running a loss; it has created employment; choice of educational establishments; shopping centers; health funds; etc. Why do I choose to live here? Simple - Shabbat is Shabbat; no cars on the streets; no loud music from the neighbors.
11. #9 All citizens of Israel must live under one law
Shalom   (01.25.11)
The state of Israel is supposed to be for Jews which means that the law of the land is the Torah law. So who's breaking the Law of the Land?
12. Haredim and Reality
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (01.25.11)
Segregated cities, defined by an individual segment of the population. This is a sociopathic goal. I want to live where those around me think like I do, look like I do, and agree with what I do. I can't imagine why anyone would desire this kind of inhomogeneous society. No diversity, no color. Is the Haredi community this xenophobic, this paranoid and this isolated. The answer is irrelevant, since establishing this kind of Haredi state is not in the interest of Israel, and even if they don't see it, not in the interest of the Haredim. How will they make money, where will food and shelter come from? Are we seculars to build their cities, pay their incomes and put food on their tables? I think not! So, how do these people expect to live? There is no free lunch. The Haredim are not entitled to anything more or less than any other Israeli.

"The state of Israel is supposed to be for Jews which means that the law of the land is the Torah law. So who's breaking the Law of the Land?" Isn't there an adulteress or rebellious teenager you should be stoning?
14. 61% hareidi demographics
moron ,   galut   (01.25.11)
the seculars need to have more children than the rest of 'western civilization'--logical after shoah--no?
