It is quite amazing when a Professor (Ben Gurion University) writes such an error-ridden article. To figure out why, we should follow the money. Dani Filk is a board member of the rabidly anti-Israeli PHR group. There are allegations that PHR receives money from the Al Aqsa Fund of Ramallah (that pays suicide bombers) and the Islamic Investment Bank. If Lieberman has his way, these allegations will be investigated and if true, Dani Filk might find himself losing money. Before writing such articles, Dani Filk should learn the meaning of the word "gilui naot" (proper disclosure).

What Dr. Filk completely fails to understand is that the only thing that will satisfy the international community would be if Israel were to unilaterally declare its statehood dissolved. Nothing short of that will endear Israel to the world. So it's really time to stop trying to make them like us. I love the fact of an Avigdor Lieberman who tells it like it is, is not afraid to ruffle feathers and asserts Israel's absolute right to exist. I love the idea that the terrorist organizations arrayed against Israel and the assorted Islamofascist states such as Iran, Turkey and Syria are offended by Lieberman's remarks. That tells me he must be doing something right. I also think that the voices in Israel which would see Israel destroyed in the name of socialist principles which have no place in modern Israeli society SHOULD be silenced. I think they are at best, seditious, and at worst, treasonous. Dr. Filk is of a bygone era. Yes, it would have been nice to impart our dovish left-wing views upon our neighbors, but they opted for war and we had to respond in kind. Nothing has changed, except that the more powerful we become, the more they would like to destroy us. The only thing that terrorists respect is strength. A dovish Israel that whines incessantly about "democracy" and "democratic principles" plays straight into the hands of those who wish to destroy us. I remind Dr. Filk that during the American Civil War, sacred constitutional principles such as habeas corpus, freedom of the press and freedom of speech were routinely suspended as Americans fought against themselves. There was a greater goal at stake -- preserving the United States. Israel should go about the business of preserving Israel. If it means talking down the leftists, then so be it. There will be plenty of time to restore our democratic inclinations once we have gotten rid of the enemy within. I think Dr. Filk should go off some pleace truly backwards and horrific and practice medicine. It will give him an opportunity to show us his democratic and humanitarian bent in action rather than merely writing about it.

Yes I have lost a lot of friends and family due to combat over the years. I happen to know a lot about combat. Their sacrifices were to protect the rights of my people. Yes Dr. Filc, we do really understand your concern and the prespective you see from your own experience. Argentina is a great point to advise the Israelis that if you were on the border with Chile, Brasil and all those Christians countries, you probably run the dangers of being another Chile run amock by a guy like Binochet.
