Are you under the impression that boys between the ages of seven and nine years are capable of asserting an informed opinion? They are far more likely to choose the parent that doesn't restrict their television-watching or their computer time, and lets them play in the street as long as they want, over the parent that makes them study and do their homework! What a truly primitive custom you have described. No wonder the Arab world is such a backward place!
