a us mideast taskforce has first a priority for us interests, then for the interests of another country/people, other countries/peoples. it cannot be unbiased, neutral and objective. it will not work, perhaps in the usa itself. a taskforce of the un will probably have a better chance to succeed when 2 parties in a conflict need mediation or a judge.

What this crew fails to recognize is that both the Israelis and the Palestinians have what Abbas himself has called a "good reality". There's economic growth, interaction, and little violence between Israel and the West Bank under Israel's security umbrella. A deal is nowhere in sight because the most Israel could give is less than the minimum the Palestinians demand. In the meantime, Lebanon is heading into the precipice, Iraq is falling into Iran's orbit, and northern Sudan will probably answer the south's demand for independence with violence. It would appear, therefore, that the task force should be addressing these issues, and treat the I/P conflict to a few years of benign neglect.
