1. Tal Law a failure
Ger ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.16.11)
Gee, what a surprise to learn that the haredim didn't rush to enlist in the IDF. And it only took the geniuses who dreamed it up about 10 years to learn that fact.
2. Tal Law needs to be revised but lets not send them to the ID
zionist forever   (01.16.11)
The Tal Law does need some revision yes but we should not be pushing them all towards joining the IDF because for many army life is not compatible with the kind of Torah life they want to lead even the Hesder unit. There needs to be other options which involve the civilian sector allowing them to do their days work and then go home to their family and study Torah. We need a reserve fire service - train these guys up they can fight fires. The defense ministry has been trying to decide whats the best way to distribute gas masks without putting to much strain on Homefront. Train the haredi how to fit masks and let them distribute the things. When they have done the days work let them go home. The police have the volunteers who help them out but these people cannot always give up as much of their time as is needed if they are going to stick with the program. Let the haredi join. Bomb shelters up and down the country have been neglected over the past 20-30 years by the municipalities who have no will to spend money making them fit for use so let the haredi do it. We should work with both the religious parties and the haredi groups like Chabad who do serve in the army and live normal lives . Groups like Chabad can relate to these people better than Bibi could. When it comes to the haredi the solution is not confrontation its a softly softly approach which we have not been doing so far its all been resentment talking and treating them as enemies of the state & it might make us feel better to let our temper out but it doesn't help get them to serve.
