If an Orthodox family wants to limit the number of children it has for economic reasons, then I see no problem with the use of condoms to continue physical relations, which are an important part of marriage, after the wife has given birth to the children she is going to give birth to. But to think of using them before - definitely against halacha. When does the couple decide that they are "ready"? When they are 40 and suddenly realize that they waited too long to have 4 kids? This is why parents help their children after marriage, in BOTH religious and secular spheres, because getting off the ground is hard for all young marriages.
