1. Nasrallah's end fast approaching
Maurice ,   Montreal   (01.17.11)
The free world will not allow Nasrallah and the Hezbollah terrorists to take hold of Lebanon. As soon as Nasrallah starts his coup the UN/US/EU will intervene in some form or other. This will be the end of Nasrallah the bandit! Mark my words...
2. justice will rain upon Nasrallah's ass, arrest him too

3. Imad Mughniyeh,
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (01.17.11)
Maybe he was 'offed' by his own lot or by Syria for two reasons. Firstly, to cover up for his involvement in Harriri's murder. Classic removal of the 'hitman' removes the threat of him ever testifying. Secondly, to rally the mobs against Israel and the Mossad. Not that it matters 'whodunnit'

maurice, UN US and EU are unhappy about a lot of things in this world, things like Iran, North korea, Burma , Gaza, Westbank. (no disrespect to israel). The west is suffering financially. I really wish what you say to come true but common sense tells me it won't. Hizballah has killed lots of americans and has never really paid any price, in fact hezbollah just seems to get stronger and stronger. Israel can still smash them but only millitarily not politically.
5. SYRIA AND SAUDI ARABIA
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.17.11)
This passage baffles me: "An agreement between Syria and Saudi Arabia may prevent another round of violence in Lebanon after the findings of the investigation into the assassination of former Prime Minister Hariri are made public". How will that agreement prevent violence in Lebanon and why should there be violence in the absence of an agreement?Does this mean that different factions in Lebanon take orders from foreign governments? But we've long been told that it's Israel that interferes in Lebanon's internal affairs.Looks like the interference comes from elsewhere. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!

9. to my friend Maurice from Montreal
SyriranFreedomEagle   (01.17.11)
I think it is Nasrallah's biggest dream to die as a martyrer. Having said that, there are many Hezbollahs... and many Nasrallahs... you know why? because israil is creating its enemies on a daily basis...
10. #9 - its a bit hard to understand, why someone in beirut...
eporue ,   europe   (01.17.11)
wants to die because of israel... maybe you can explain a little ? but shouldnt be too difficult for nasrallah to die as a "martyrer" : 5 minutes, just waiting on this square, where hariri was murdered should be sufficient...
11. Poor Lebanon
jord ,   Atlanta USA   (01.18.11)
A beautiful country being ruined by, first militant Fatah, and now, Islamic Shi'a 'gangster' proxies of Iran and Syria. May peace come to the Middle East in our lifetime. -- Long Live Israel and a peaceful Lebanon!! Peace and bounty will be the Lebanese fate only if they go back to a clearly delineated power sharing role between the major players. Factions who do not have arms or militias, and all support a inclusive constitutionally sanctioned militia (Army)...If G-d (and the Lebanese people ) wills it-It will be.
12. Yes but...
#1 Dan ,   Maurice   (01.18.11)
You've got a point there Dan. But all the recent trips Hariri took to meet with allies and win support (France, USA, etc) tells me that he got some reassurances that the West will intervene in some form if needed. By the way, I do hope that you guys in Brisbane are coping well with the disaster that hit you, and that you are safe and sound.
13. In contrary to what some here may believe (or say they belie
Bat Zion ,   Central Israel   (01.18.11)
(or say they believe), Israel is not "meddling" in Lebanese politics. Certainly not in the level of Iranian, or even Syrian involvement. Hizbollah, being an Iranian proxy, just showed to whom it's loyalty is really given (i.e. *not* to the Lebanese people), by felling the Lebanese government and causing instability, for the sole reason of the exposure of it's true colours. Is this good for Lebanon? Will you fall into another civil war just to save Hizbollah's face? (These are not rhetorical questions, I do wish someone from Lebanon would give me an honest answer). BTW, Nasrallah is much more valuable to us alive than dead - he is a real asset. We know exactly what he's thinking, doing and planning. He is so predictable, it makes him practically priceless. I wish all our Lebanese neighbours: be strong, may you pass the current crisis in peace. May Allah be with you.

Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (01.18.11)
First Nasrallah will likely die similar to Saddam. Far from being a martyr he'll be hung by his own people. Like Imad Mughniyeh, it now seems likely he was killed by his own people, if the article is correct. Who can really be surprised, these guys kill each other all the time, then of course scapegoat Israel, how convenient. It must be nice to have a ready made scapegoat to blame all the evil you do to your own people. So Nasrallah is blaming Israel for the investigation too, nice! Too gutless to even accept responsibility for the killing of Hariri Sr., we'll find him hiding in some hole before he's dragged out and hung by the Lebanese people, if they ever wake up that is. When will they stop drinking the kool-aid. But then again, these suckers will believe anything that vilifies Israel, such easily manipulated stupidity.
19. to #18 regarding SyriranFreedomEagle
Eyal ,   USA   (01.18.11)
Israeli bashers always lie and it's ok, cause Israel is the enemy (good excuse to lie). Syrian Freedom Eagle way of thinking is, it's ok to murder, because we can lie and blame Israel. He doesn't seem to understand that garbage always floats to the top and the Arab dictatorship days are coming to an end. But just like Tunisia, the rest of the Middle East will follow. So let them lie, it's all a matter of time.
20. #19; Eyal, You have to wonder
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (01.18.11)
I remember the first time I heard that Muslims were being taught, that if you killed yourself, and murdered innocent civilians you would go to heaven and be rewarded by G-d. That your reward would be 72 virgins. I thought the idea was so silly and stupid, I thought to myself, who would believe such...what I thought was obvious...nonsense. Yet soon the Muslim world was bragging that their shahids were so many, they were standing in line anxiously waiting to be next. So who really knows what goes on in the minds of such a gullible people. Even being brainwashed since birth doesn't really explain it. The hatred that must be taught is beyond belief, almost. After all, the idea G-d would reward unprovoked murder of men, women and kids, is so counter intuitive, you would think people would understand innately, how perverse that idea is. But apparently I was wrong.
