1. No to Valentine's Day .
Salma ,   Palestine   (01.18.11)
everyday should really be valentines day shouldn't it ?! $$
2. @1, Yes to Valentine's Day
Jordan ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.18.11)
While in theory, yes you should make every day a celebration of your love. But in real life, its nice to set a day aside where you turn it up a notch and spoil your partner to the best of your ability. As for Iran, once again they are trying to prove that some religions are just no fun at all.
3. Talk about paranoia

4. Valentine Day

Will someone please send Valentine card with box of lovely Israeli chocolate and ofcourse with a bottle of the best ISRAELI WINE from occupied but LIBERATED GOLAN.
5. Valentine's Day in Mea Shearim
Babishka ,   USA/Mea Shearim   (01.18.11)
Shops in Mea Shearim sell bouquets of red flowers and Valentine-themed tchotchkas, and people buy them for Shabbat and for engagement and Sheva brachos parties. There would probably be some kanoim knocking over displays if they really knew what the red hearts were for, but they're just clueless. Also, I have seen Purim Mishloach Manot that contain chocolate bunnies from "Nazareth candy company." Did you know that Nazareth has a Badatz certification? And they are clueless about the bunnies.

7. GOOD ON IRAN

Valentines day is nothing but a waste of money and has no real meaning. Its not a religious day for any faith and today its nothing today other than an excuse the stores use to get you to spend money. Busying flowers at inflated prices, buying some chocolates in a heart shaped box for an absolute fortune. A card that will go into the trash next week. The only people who are really going to love you for your efforts are the store owners. You don't need a special day or flowers and chocolates to somebody you love. If you do need that special day to express your love then your relationship has a problem. Valentines day should be dropped from the calendar.

Wine from the liberated Golan is a nice gesture but come on Israeli chocolate? Israel makes some of the worst chocolate on the market especially Elite. Most the only people outside Israel who buy it abroad are jews who want to feel they are doing their bit for Israel by buying the Elite chocolate or at pessach when there is only limited chocolates you can buy. Next time we want to kill an Iranian scientists we should send some Elite chocolate but if we just want to be nice lets stick to the Golan wine.
9. AH HAHAHA no love for you guys

Ahava   (01.18.11)

If they are in their ninja outfits they cant smell the flowers or eat the chocolates. I cans understand now there was a NEED for this law for practicality purposes.
14. Ridiculous ruling, you can't dectate peoples feelings
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (01.18.11)
Human feeling can't be dectated. If a man whishes to express his love by buying roses for the woman he loves, no ayatolla should be able to stop him
15. Totalitarianism at it's best (or worst!)
Gil ,   LA, USA   (01.18.11)
Any country that denies people the freedom to celebrate holidays they choose-especially light-hearted ones like valentines day is clearly run by a corrupt, tyrannical, totalitarian, fascist regime. I hope the revolt happens soon!
16. Good for Iran!
IRAN#1   (01.18.11)
Why should Persians celebrate Valentines Day!??!?! Do "westerners" celebrate Persian holidays?!!? Good job Iran, try to keep your identity and traditions and not become a bastardized culture like Japan and Korea and the rest of the "wanna be westerners".
17. RAMI,YOU ARE SWIMMING.................#14
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (01.18.11)
In the shallow waters. What lies in the depth is unknown to illiterates like you.No wonder at your comments.
18. FUN, IN YOUR CULTURE......................#2
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (01.18.11)
Is more vulgar than you may be prepared to admit.Ethical standards should be admired.Islamic standards do not deny fun but there are limitations that may sound strange to you because of your decaying and rotten culture.
19. Muhammad never fall in love?. End.
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (01.18.11)
20. To @16, Iran.
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (01.18.11)
You are right, love is an emotion of the decadent and corrupt Western tradition. Hatred a virtue of the uncorrupted, free, prosperous, advanced, full of knowledge and respect, without emigration, non-violent Eastern culture.
21. then how can mahmood run his hotdog stand?
pork filled hotdogs ,   passing off as beef   (01.19.11)
22. Tyranny!!!!!
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (01.19.11)
When society, one man, or group has the power to tell the rest. What should?: eat, wear, do, think, speak. That is called tyranny !!!!!
23. #16. Iranians wear Western clothes, drive Western cars...
Persian CAT   (01.19.11)
live in Western style houses, use appliances including computers an so on. Agreed the Valentine thing is another commercial ploy for the Iranian merchants to SELL more Chines junk... that's all. Just look around and ask yourself where would I be living, what would I be eating and wearing if it were not for the "westerners"? Then let's talk. I am not sure why you have to insult other people's culture by calling them "bastardized"?! The Japanes and Koreans still stick to their ancient traditions, religions and culture. They are not "wannabes" they are smarter than your realize. They have kept their culture and adopted what they like from the West. As the result they produce excellent cars, electronics, cameras, etc. Can you say that about Iran?
24. #20. Seems you need to get better...
Pesian CAT   (01.19.11)
educated about the Eastern culture(s). There are abundant expressions of love, affection, humanity and peace in the Eastern literature. They way these emotions are expressed may not be by buying "something red" at special Valentine Day discount. Violence and lack of respect is not an Eastern monopoly. How many "Easterners" were involved in the WWI, WWII, the Holocaust and numerous other acts of genocide just during the 20th. Century?! You need to get out more.
25. #19. What the hell is "Muhammand"?!
Persian CAT   (01.19.11)
What do you have against cultural literacy, and why are running from it?!
26. #11. I'm with you on that one. And I wish
Persian CAT   (01.19.11)
you guys start doing something like that. Have you seen some of your women-folk? oy vey!!!!!!
