31. DON'T TELL ME MR. HABER ......
FO ,   Belgium   (01.20.11)
Don't tell me Mr. Haber, you are ignorant of your own history. A partition had already taken place by the League of Nations, by an unanimous vote by all its 51 members, the 24th of July 1922. The resolutions voted that day are called the "MANDATE FOR PALESTINE". This Mandate gave the Jews the embryo of a state (A Class Mandate) and the IRREVOCABLE RIGHT to settle anywhere in the area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, including the Golan Heights, right unaltered in INTERNATIONAL LAW and valid to this day, due to ARTICLE 8O of the CHARTER of the UNITED NATIONS. The same 24th of July 1922, the League of Nations agreed, upon the British proposal to cut off from total Palestinian territory, that was initially intended to become the Jewish National Home (Conference of San RĂ©mo) the area between the Jordan River and the desert of Arabia. This terriory about 75% of total Palestine came under exclusive British rule, closed to Jewish immigration, and became later the State called Jordan, DE FACTO the ARAB PALESTINIAN STATE with an Arab Palestinian population of about 75%. No Israeli government had the guts to produce these facts on the international scene, to avoid to upset the LEFT who in the years 20 disowned, and the resolutions of the League as well as the idea of an independent Jewish State. Now, after the 3 last leftists left the government, the above facts must be thrown on the internation scene. It has to be done N O W , tomorrow may be to late. And Israel may be condemned to retreat to the "partition border of 1947", a UN decision that was a faulty draft, the territtory having bee already divided in 1922, a decision still valid today in International Law.
32. #27 JUDAH THE LION ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (01.20.11)
Just as I guessed! your Intelligence Is Limited . #9 is a FAKE post , idiot.
33. Well it's looking better and better all the time!
Edithann ,   USA   (01.20.11)
Yes, it will be the Nov. 29th Palestinian version... I can't wait until those illegal settlements start paying property taxes to Palestine!... TATA
34. Haber gets his ideas from Erdogan
Moshe ,   Netanya   (01.20.11)
Now, I'll explain. 1. Erdogan wrote that Israel has now the worst gov't in it history about 12 days ago. Then Haber repeated this in his earlier piece. 2. 8 days ago Erdogan wrote that PLO state is looming. I guess Habber knows Turkish as well as I do.
35. #33 You'll be waiting all your life, and then some. TATA.
(01.20.11)
36. Palestine state. . .
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (01.20.11)
Will soon encompass all of the former British Mandate of Palestine and will be Muslim with an agreed-upon Christian presence at Holy Sites. Just a matter of a few more years, maybe five.
37. YHWH will take peace from the earth when Jerusalem isdivided
Rivkah   (01.20.11)
To see the cities of the earth that will be nuked that are in the ELS Torah codes as a consequence of dividing God's land (Jerusalem) go to www.warningusa.org/freeware/nukings/nukings.txt . Jerusalem in its entirety must be given to the Jews. God's name is written in Hebrew you can see from satellite maps on the mountains and valleys of Jerusalem. Do not divide Jerusalem. The Palestinians already have three States. They don't need a fourth. They need to go to Jordan, Lebanon, and Gaza and get out of Israel for there to be peace in the world.
38. Palestinian state
David Kross ,   Columbia (MD) USA   (01.20.11)
You know the story of the Emperor's new clothes. Everyone told him how wonderful these garments were, but there were no garments: he was naked. A Palestinian state is the Emperor's new clothes: there is no Palestinian state. Poor Emperor.
39. Wine from Golan
Mahmood abu Zuben ,   Saudi Arabia   (01.20.11)
Please send few cartons of each Red & White wine from the liberated golan to our friend Bashar Al a saad to try. Surely without doubt Mr.Assad will love the golan wine. Golan wine one of the best if not the best in the world.
40. Palestinia state looming
Jouko ,   Kuopio, Finland   (01.20.11)
Palestinian state is really looming - the whole world seems to support the idea! But it will be very interesting to see what God does about this thing. I firmly believe that there will be no Palestinian state, instead I think the state of Israel will reach upto the great river Eufrat. The borders of Israel will be the borders of the Kingdom of David and Salomon!!!!
41. The United States will not recognize it
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.20.11)
The United States long- term position is that a settlement must be reached by negotiation of the parties. The U.S. will not recognize the Palestinian State. Also important European allies will not. Moreover once 'recognized' what exactly is it? Will it move its Army to secure its borders? The only way they can really have something of value for themselves is by recognizing and making peace with us. Over sixty years of experience suggests they are not willing to do this.
42. #14
(01.20.11)
palestine is and was never a country. it was the roman term for vacated israeli land, the cradle of which is in judea and samara. Read your koran-yahoo, even allah says the it is the land of the yahoos. yahoo, so called palestinians are jordanians, egyptians, syrians and lebanese who drifted over especially when the jews returned. Why it is so difficult to set up a palestinian state is because it is made up of different peoples who have no interest in a state. What they want is money, jobs and overall sponsorship by egypt, jordan or syria. The answer really is to move all of them out to those countries except for those who are willing to take an oath of loyalty and do public or army service. Otherwise, its time to move all of them out. However, since you like haber, I give you a list of israelis who did so much to make concessions and support your cause:olmert, barak, peres, livni, ramon, braverman, herzog, shai, oz, gorssman, burg, amir oren, verter and barne. Take them and good luck. Allah akbar.
43. #15 Nour. May as well imagine "Palestinian" Air Force.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.20.11)
#15 Nour. While you're imagining a "palestinian" state occupying all of Judea and Samaria, you may as well go whole hog. Sure imagine a "Palestinian" Air Force defending the imaginary state. Why not? The reality is that there will soon be more than 1,000,000 Jews in Judea and Samaria. It is a thriving and permanent part of Israel. It look like 62 years of waiting for an event that will never happen is not long enough for you. Dream away, Nour.
44. #17 Nour. This problem will soon be remedied.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.20.11)
#17 Nour. It is true that there is more land for Jews to build on in Judea and Samaria. You don't even attempt to refute the fact that we have a fast growing Jewish population of almost 700,000 in Judea and Samaria, including Jerusalem. Which makes creating a "Palestine" on our land impossible. As for Jews building on the rest of our land. This problem will soon be remedied. We will build it all with delight. Don't worry about it.
45. A State called Palestine
Bob O'Connell ,   Lake Forest Ill, USA   (01.20.11)
Danny, in comment 18, notes that Israel exists because it fought because Israel "won the war" in 1947, '56, '67, '73, 2000, and 2006. I'm not sure about having yet won "the war" and I'm not comfortable characterizing 1956 as a victory, but Danny compels me to reach four conclusions: (1) only Israel can reliably protect the Jewish people, and (2) Israel, like any other nation, has a right to defensible borders; (3) Israel has always lived in a neighborhood increasingly at war with both the people and the State of Israel, and (4) only Israel has wholeheartedly sought peace. If the rest of the Mideast cared half as much about living in peace, peace would prevail and there would be a cognizable State of Palestine overnight -- but as long as the neighbors to Israel have a different agenda, "the war" against Israel continues. What a shame.
46. What will happen if they GET their state?
bob96 ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.20.11)
Many talkbackers seem concerned about the UN's "declaration" of a Pal State. Suppose they do. What then? Abbas will say: "I want all settlers out, immediately!". What will the settlers DO? Laugh in his face, and start getting ready to DEFEND their land if they are attacked. If they are (very doubtful), will Israel simply watch and do nothing? Dream on. Will the UN send troops to "evict" the settlers by force (and to pay a high price in blood)? Keep dreaming. Will the PA be able to govern his new state, WITHOUT all the services that receives from Israel? Not likely. So, it's mostly noise, not reality.
47. Once a state, they have access to ICJ and ICC courts.
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.21.11)
While US could block all or most action at some point, the US may need UN action on something like Iran or N. Korea and a deal would be made.
48. #40:: Finally
Israeli 2   (01.21.11)
a REAL Smart man from FINLAND
49. 1967 line VS your existence (agree with #47)
pal ,   palestine   (01.21.11)
that is what you own scholars are saying .not us .. we say ..no peace /no recognition of the occupiers . it seems that we need to tell you that in chineese (you are not getting it ). any agreement not worth its ink .. the gentelman from Guatimala and urugway made a mistake in 1947. end of story . big deal . human error . ok ..Pardon .
50. #47. A repetition of the meaningless 1988 declaration.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.21.11)
#47 Bloodyscot. It is irrelevant to speculate what "Palestinians" could do with a state. It can't possibly happen unless Israel allows it. You can't have a "Palestine" in Judea and Samaria with a rapidly growing Jewish population of 700,000. Judea and Samaria Jews are staying put and increasing in numbers at a very high rate. Any declaration of "Palestine" state hood this year will be as meaningless as their 1988 declaration. Judea and Samaria are ours and we won't let it happen. Period.
51. To Chaim
Luiz Felipe Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (01.21.11)
Dear brother Chaim. I repeat that Israelian existence, and security, are very important for me. I would never endorse anything that could endanger the Hebrew State. But listen. Jericho, Bethlehem, Betanya, Rammallah, part of Nazareth, are not Jewish towns. Their dwellers are Arabs. East Jerusalem, also. If you favor "One State", you will have to admit those people with the same rights, including political ones. Will it be good for Israel? Why can't be created a Palestinian State, with carefully drawed frontiers, demilitarized, through a solid peace treaty? If is not possible, what will be the best, and democratic, solution for the "stalemate"?
52. That zuhir mohsen quote
Shlomo ,   Denver, US   (01.21.11)
Why don't more Israeli politicians point that quote by former PLO leader Zuhir Mosen about there being no Palestinian people or Palestinian state? I think that would help things out for the better in refuting the ignorant notion that there's an indigenous Palestine or Palestinian people who are really Jordanians and have a state.
53. Gazaaaaaaa
Moragh   (01.21.11)
Give jerusalem over to abbas and watch the Gaza Gang move in and mow down the palestinians living there and celebrating their new "found" country over the gaza-massacred palistinians. Just like the Bible more-or-less says, and Gaza's Olympic murderer can kiss his own ass goodbye when he swings on the makeshift gallows.
54. #51 Brother Luiz. Annex Judea/Samaria. Pay Arabs to leave.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.21.11)
#51 Luiz. I appreciate your good intentionsz. However, Judea and Samaria rightfully belong to Jews and have for more than 3,500 years. There is no more reason for Israel to cede Judea and Samaria than for the U.S. to cede California, for example. Secondly, any "Palestine" entity in the heart of Israel would pose a mortal danger to Israel. It would trim Israel's waist to a suicidal 8 miles. A liesurely 3 hour jaunt for our enemies to cut our Homeland in half. Every Israel city and town would be inundated by rockets. Moreover, "Palestinians" have no intention of giving up the "right" to inundate our tiny Homeland with millions of hostile Arabs. Nor would the "Palestinian" entity be disarmed. It would be armed to the teeth. What would Israel do about it? Complain to the U.N.? (Sadly LOL). The answer is simple, Luiz. Israel must annex Judea and Samaria and pay Arabs to leave. Start off by extending Israeli law to all of Judea and Samaria. Draw up plans to compensate hundreds of thousands of Arabs, who'd love to leave. Even without Israeli compensation, Arabs are leaving Judea/Samaria by the tens of thousands annually.
55. Nour @#15
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (01.22.11)
Dont worry wasting money on a army and airforce, spend it on factories, schools and hospitals, all for the benifit of your citizens. This way you will build a far stronger state.Salam Fayyad is the man to do it.
56. Don't you mean boycott
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (01.22.11)
As positive or looming as it sounds, a real Palestinian state is not on the horizon. Israel will never willingly allow an independent Palestinian state to exist. They will only allow three prisons in the West Bank and an additional prison in Gaza. What the author fears is the increasing Israeli isolation that is looming. Israel is finding it difficult to hide its racist foundations and the reality of apartheid in Israel. The BDS is looming on the horizon.
57. To #7 a reduction of medical aid would hurt the weakest
Harmen ,   Netherlands   (01.23.11)
Dear Jules, A reduction in medical aid would mainly hurt the weakest, such as children, the elderly, and those with chronic ailments. Why deliberately hurt those people, who usually have little or no role in all events? I believe that Israel is a more decent country than that, and will be able to find more decent alternatives. I hope you agree.
