Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.20.11)
Any Jew may live or move to W. Bank but not Israeli citizens no matter religion or race. It seems that Obama is getting equal pressure to both veto and abstain in UNSC vote from Congress and that could bad for Pro-Israel influence in the future if it fails to win in this.
38. #30 Robert Blum HERE'S AN ACTUAL US LEGAL OBLIGATION
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.20.11)
When Israel signed the peace treaty with Egypt in 1979 the US guaranteed Israel's security in an accompanying letter of understanding from the US to Israel. Specifically, the US administration undertook to force the Egyptian government BY AN MEANS to prevent terrorism on Israel from Egyptian territory.Yet Hamas uses Sinai as its backyard, the Egyptian government turns a blind eye and the US administration does nothing. I don't know about US law,but signed contracts are a serious matter in Britain and have to be acted on;I suspect that US law is similar. So,Robert Blum shouldn't put all his energy into submitting talk-back here, but should be in touch with his Senators and Congressmen demanding that the administration takes its contract with the State of Israel seriously. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
39. 29 Baloney - Read the document.
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (01.20.11)
Israel should get some new lawyers. Ones that can read the conventions you signed on to. your argument is bogus. And your bad lawyers that came up with that argument are the only ones in the entire world that have so mis-interpreted the conventions. If you cannot live with the convention, have the decency to withdraw formally and end the farce.
40. THE UNSC IS NOT A COURT
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.20.11)
It's an example of the PA's contempt for International Law.Law is argued out in Courts of Law,not in assemblies of politicians. The UNSC is the latter. If the US votes for this resolution, the administration will be spitting at the US Constitution with its checks and balances. But,of course, this is an Obama administration. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
41. UN will not vote on this
Harry ,   Toronto   (01.20.11)
Any bets! The UN security council will not pass this resolution. Nobody is interested in a Palestinian state other than lip service. Everybody understands that it is the beginning of the end for a "Palestinian State". Other than lip service....forget it. The good old days are gone. Tunisia is the perfect example of signing any kind of deal with these thugs.
42. U.S. should step aside
Katherine ,   Canada   (01.21.11)
Bringing it to the UN is NECESSARY because America has FAILED to reign in Israel's belligerent settlement construction and changing of the facts-on-the-ground. In fact, if America hadn't given Israel cover from the international community's condemnation over this illegal settlement issue for the past 20 years, we wouldn't be having to deal with this obstacle today and all the difficulties drawing borders as a result. Step aside America, your supposed "peace-making" efforts are a failure.
43. #42..Amazing distortion of reality, convoluted "logic"
abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (01.21.11)
Katherine, you display a complete lack of knowledge of MidEast history, and lacking in facts and truths. You are attempting at writing twisted renditions of history and by-passing anything resembling truth and real facts.
44. P.S. to my post # 15: When the late Mr. Yitzhaq Rabin...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (01.21.11)
... dubbed worldwide as the Prince of Peace, accepted the Oslo process he did so as an experiment, one with RED LINES. Rabin's red lines were stated by him at his last speech at Israel's parliament, the Knesset: 1) Jerusalem will remain united under Israel's sovereignty 2) Major settlement blocs will be incorporated into sovereign Israel 3) The Jordan Valley must be viewed in the widest sense of the word and it too will be part of Israel 4) The future Palestinian state will not be a regular state, e.g. it will have to be demilitarized, its air space will be controlled by Israel, its border passes - land, sea and air - will remain under Israel's control Rabin was indeed a man of peace who was also a Jewish patriot and a pragmatist. He realized what was and what was not possible, and he thought so based on understanding UN Security Council Resolution 242, the one that has been the very basis for all the peace talks and agreements to date. It is time we all open our eyes and face reality instead of being led by our wishful thinking and that which is "politically correct" and trendy at a given time...!!
49. freedom
MP ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.18.11)
Why don't you Israelis want to give the Palestinians their freedom? Surely you must remember when you yourselves were oppressed. Why deny the freedom that you yourselves yearned for to other poor, oppressed people. Everybody deserves freedom, it's the fundamental human right. Why are you being the way you are? I always thought that Jewish people were the avantgard of humanity. Now it seems that you are the same as your oppressors used to be. Why do you want to be in the same moral category as the people who organized pogroms in Europe not that long ago? What happened to you? When did you lose your courage to do the right thing?

MP ,   Toronto, Ontario   (02.18.11)
You say that "Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria were given eternally to Jews by God". Can you prove this? And please don't tell me that it's in the Torah. I checked and the Torah doesn't have God's signature. Surely you wouldn't accept a land deed if it's not signed and properly executed.
