31. those who supported Hizballah among the Christians now
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (01.22.11)
are ready to eat their hats, but it may be a bit too late...!! The Druze still have a chance of changing matters, but their leadership, sadly, has a change of heart again, despite the bloody murders dished to them by the Iran-Syria-Hizballah axis in the past.
32. #6 - Hizbullah's use of weapons on Lebanese was democratic?
William ,   Israel   (01.22.11)
Hizbullah's use of its weapons on the Lebanese people to block calls for disarming HIzbullah, to stop construction of a parallel communication system for Hizbullah, and ending Hizbullah presence in the customs office at the Beirut airport is considered....democracy? Perhaps you should Google "democracy" and see what it truly entails. It's very different from the bastardized version Arabs keep pushing. Nothing in Lebanon is democratic, from being dragged into war by a domestic terror group, to forced sectarian divisions in the govt.
33. #7 - which will make it very easy for Hizbullah to take over
William ,   Israel   (01.22.11)
This is the same situation in the 1930s after WWI in the US. The US population was sick of war and had no desire to enter another one, no matter how bad the situation was in Europe under Hitler. The strongest movement post-WWI were the Isolationists who, just like anti-war, anti-globalization groups today, want the US to recluse to its own borders and ignore the rest of the world. If Lebanese succumb to the fear of civil war based on their past experiences, they will be paralyzed to help themselves when Hizbullah begins the take over, and when they finally hit the tipping point of wanting to fight for their "democracy", it will already be too late.
34. To Shadi-Gaza #12
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (01.22.11)
Nice of you to recognize "the end of Lebanon". As we all know Gaza also ended when Hamas took over. By the way, Lebanon never had any chances to begin with. Hezbollah can't stay in power and avoid attacking Israel. You watch!!
35. Lebanon will pay the price for stipidity.
Chelsea ,   Virginia   (01.22.11)
I predicted a civil war some time ago. Hezbos could possibly take over and the Lebanese will pay the price for giving these terrorists the key to the house. Lebanon was basicaly history ever since they allowed them to exist. This what you get one doesnt fix a problem when the problem is small. Now you have YOUR MESS LEBANON!!! Israel might have to come to rescue..
36. Terry #15
Or ,   Israel   (01.22.11)
The President of the U.S. at the time of the Hariri assassination knew because of U.S. intelligence WHO was behind the assassination. The president of the U.S could not put pressure on the U.N. or anyone at that time because of the war in Iraq. It is laughable that this so-called investigation had taken this long. I call it so-called because it is so far after the fact. BTW: All Syria had to say is "We were not behind the Hariri assassination" and that was good enough for everyone else. Obama was an idiot to send a U.S. Ambassador to Syria but Bush was not doing his job by allowing Syria to get away with all kinds of murder including the Assassination of Hariri. Especially when George Bush professed that no country or terrorist entity will have a place to hide or go unpunished. For that those that waged the bloodiest intifada ever against innocent Israelis got billions thrown in their laps and a U.S. formulated quartet for peace who to this day refuse to tell the truth and continue to shelter and cover for terror. Who took a denier of the Holocaust and made him into a MAN OF PEACE? Syria can do as they please because for 8 long years they were allowed to. Terry like it or not Israel was the fall guy for the Lebanon war failure because you can't fight a war with one arm tied behind your back. (by friends and enemies alike) For 8 years it was not the era of the war on terror it was the era of whitewashing terror. Think about it. Much happened in those two terms of President Bush that had a profound affect on Israel. Be careful in your criticisms please or at the very least look at the entire picture not just a politically driven one.
37. Euphemisms
Arie ,   BaGolan   (01.22.11)
At least no one is making pretend it's a "civil war" any more. It is the coming of a war between Syria - commanding its Hezbollah military division - against the freedom fighters of Lebanon who are demanding an end to the occupation of their country by a foreign Islamist country. Lebanon better understand clearly that, like Israel, they are on their won and the West has no interest in protecting victim states against tyranny.
38. #29 - shame you feel you can speak for Lebanese
William ,   Israel   (01.22.11)
who largely reject Hizbullah and the Shia takeover of their once "Paris on the Mediterranean". But like all places that were once glorious and not Islamic, Muslims soon arrived, took it over, destroyed the crap out of it, then targeted those non-Muslims among them. I feel bad mostly for the young Lebanese who will either never see, or never see again, the hot nightlife of Beirut, the international flavor of many ethnic groups and tourists mixing on the beach walk, and the freedom of being secular without repercussions. Gaza was a bit like this...before Hamas took over and targeted internet cafes, foreign schools, Christian groups, and anyone even speaking of peace through negotiations rather than genocide. I doubt highly that the Lebanese give a crap what some defunct "Palestinian", born in a coward family, has to say about their situation, especially after the "Palestinian (Egyptian)" Arafat killed so many of them during the civil war. You didn't forget that Lebanese despise "Palestinians", right? They have a good reason...so do Iraqis, Kuwaitis, Egyptians, Jordanians (Bedouins), Gulf Arabs, etc.
39. #3 Jules
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.22.11)
There is no need for territorial exchange, Arabs already have 77% of Mandate Palestine that was destined for the Jews Interim Agreement, like Oslo ? Where Arafat said the he would remove the clause from the PLO Charter that called for the destruction of Israel, that clause stiil remains
40. My comfortable sofa & bowl of popcorn are ready!
Cameron ,   USA   (01.22.11)
My money sez the tribes of Lebanon will be ultimately unwilling to spend their future days playing subservient bitch for the Shiites. It's going to be quite the match-up when Lebanon cracks wide open yet again.
41. # 30 Eric, Printing anonymous fliers
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.22.11)
Eric ! You are right,Iran is behind the war rumors,in order to fritghten the christian and suni population,so,they will leave the country, and iran will become the Landlord of Lebanon, with the blessings of the enemies of Israel, the liberalo radicalo criminalo fascistas, all over the world.
42. #1 Job Security
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.22.11)
You bragged about riding through the streets of Tehran clubbing protestors in the streets. Will you be doing this soon in Beirut?
43. Israel should defend the Phoenicians
Brod ,   USA   (01.23.11)
Israel should defend the Phoencians from being occupied by the fanatical Islamist-Jihadist Ayatollahs who are armed with giant missiles and hellbent on Israel's destruction. Failure to do so will be a precursor for a Holocaust on Israel.
44. Those who hate Israel...
emelogu ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (01.24.11)
Those who hate Israel will never know peace. Hezbolla kills a man's father; tells the son not to investigate; if anyone stretches an arm to arrest them for murder, they will cut off such hands! Pray what kind of country/ society is that where a murderer can not be arrested? And they want to be Israel's neighbours!
45. Re: Isarel should defend the Phoenicians
emelog ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (01.24.11)
I agree that the only wise solution is that Israel should intervene and save Lebanon but not because Hezbollah could otherwise cause holocaust of Israeli lives..they can't. But saving Lebanon is not worth any good to Israel since Lebanon is no friend to Israel and would turn against Israel once the trouble is over.
