What is the big deal? We all know there will be a Palestinian state. The government of Israel accepts the need for a 2-state solution and Israelis understand this. What's the big deal here? The problem is not Israel. The problem is what will happen to this new palestinian state - Hamas versus PA? It will be a disaster but its the disaster that they are running full steam right into.

Her idea would solve nothing since the goal is the destruction of Israel with a new state as the first step. When you accept and understand that fact it changes the equation.

A PA state is needed although very few in Israel would likely agree, much less on where the borders should be. Solve the refugee issue first and get rid of the camps, this will under cut one of Hamas' main issues. Israel and new PA state could take in 700,000 over a few years, the number of original refugees but Arab countries must take in the rest with full citizenship. It would be better for Israel to act first than have a worst situation force on it, since full US support may not last forever.

nowhere in 242 is there a call to set up an additional state in the region, and 242 does not mention at all concepts such as "Palestinians" and a "Palestinian state". 242, mind you passed unanimously at the UN Security Council. 242 was accepted by ALL relevant parties to the Arab Israeli conflict, including the PLO! 242 has been the basis for ALL peace talks to date and the basis for the peace treaties between Israel and Egypt and Israel and Jordan. Shouldn't France, instead of promoting an additional state in the region, demand the implementation of 242 as is whereby the most important element is the setting up of "secure and recognized boundaries" between the existing states so that an accommodation of peaceful coexistence can actually be advanced...??!!
