1. Salma... Are you in Jordan now?
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (01.23.11)
Anyway - you can't give away what doesn't belong to you in the first place.
2. No right of return to only a symbolic number of refugees.
ROSENVALD ,   BRASIL   (01.23.11)
What is "simbolic number" ??? 40.000, 200.000 ????? No one falestinian. I whant to see Abbas tell us about what he will "guive up" to Israel. I just see he ask more, more, more, and more.
3. Shocked?
david ,   UK   (01.24.11)
That's no revelation, all the world, the Arab world especially knows that the PA are traitors working for the so called "israel".
4. Palestinians cede parts of Jerusalem
Freddy ,   Israel   (01.24.11)
How come Palestinians can cede something that does not belong to them.....It was Jordanian till 1967 and since then it is Israeli......Who are they to cede anything ?????
5. "Settlers will be killed next day"
Rachel ,   US   (01.24.11)
If Livni believes that, then why give them a state? Makes no sense.
6. Jerusalem isn't theirs to cede
BH ,   Iowa   (01.24.11)
7. #4 - No one has to cede anything for a bi-national state
Barry ,   Boston USA   (01.24.11)
Using your logic there is no need to negotiate with the Palestinians. Do you want a bi-national state where Arabs and Jews are equally represented and the Jewish state ceases to exist? Or to preserve the Jewish state do you want the status quo to go on forever? Is this possible when the Palestinians bring up statehood at the UN in September? Will the US veto a resolution proclaiming a Palestinian state? What happens when the US gets fed up with Israeli inaction on the peace front? Will the US always supply Israel with the funds and weapons it needs? I think the time has come to realistically answer these questions rather than hide behind semantics.
8. Freddie's got a point
Barry ,   Ireland   (01.24.11)
Legally speaking, there was never a sovereign nation by the name of Palestine. Therefore Freddie is right. Beggars can't be choosy.
9. #3 - well, they never really owned it, David
William ,   Israel   (01.24.11)
It was stolen from Jews during 1948, through a genocidal war, after they ethnically cleansed the Jewish population and stole their property. That sounds a lot like the definition of war crimes and a violation of the Geneva Convention. "Ceding" land back to Israel is but a first step in a long list of fixing this historic crime. But aside from both legal and moral arguments, isn't the issue of land swap a part of Israel-Arab peace which most of the world has already endorsed, and was solidified by UNR 242 and previous agreements? So, following intl opinion AND working towards peace for his people makes...the PA traitors? Thank you, David, for showing us absolutely how foreign racist elements are the real reason "Palestinians" still can't get a State.
10. Qureia shows why we can't trust "Palestinians"
William ,   Israel   (01.24.11)
Livni has a very good point - the minute Israel would cede any land, the Arabs would slaughter the entire Jewish population there. Qureia's response? "So move them" He didn't offer to extend "palestinian" citizenship instead of Israeli citizenship to those Jews. He didn't even try to quell her concerns by denying they'd be slaughtered. That's because he knows exactly what type of brutal sub-humans he represents, and underscores the reason why Israel MUST not cede any land that can place ANY citizen in danger - whether in Maale Adumim or flying overhead in El Al.
11. Immaterial
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.24.11)
No agreement was signed, and the Arabs have never kept any of theirs anyway. The Knesset would never have voted to agree to any of this.
12. BS: how can they "cede" land in J-m when it was never theirs
Rami   (01.24.11)
13. Brought to you by Al-Jazeera ...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.24.11)
...reporting the "news" spun by the "religion of peace".
14. to #4
Jared ,   Stillwater   (01.24.11)
Alright then, let Israel give it back to Jordan - obviously you agree it is not Israel's!
15. to uk david number3 in case you
Barney ,   USA   (01.24.11)
haven't noticed Israel has been a prosperous, successful, democratic, technologically, humanitarian country for over 60 years now. If you are living in london that may well be "palestine" and then you can see how you like it. Incidentally, named for the King of the Jews David?
16. Talk is Cheap!
The Bigizz ,   USA   (01.24.11)
Cede Jerusalem! No no. You cant just Cede Jerusalem. Israel owns the land. The Arabs forget they attacked in 1967 from every border. This land was lost in war. The Arabs attacked, lost the war and now they want it back.. Israel was attacked, alot of lives were lost and blood was shed. It would be a dishonor to all the solders that fought these wars invaine. Especially after Israel was attacked. The best soloution for this is the Arabs must move. They are Jordainians Arabs...Nothing more! The Bigizz USA.
17. re4: Much of Israel land control is temp. pending peace deal
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.24.11)
1947 borders are the official borders under UN rules(58%), the rest including all of Jerusalem is pending, although no one in Israel would agree on that, since its too dangerous to even consider. US understand that less than 67 greenline as borders would like destroy Israel and there for unrealized. Even with 67 greenline or close to it will be a long term security problem and limit the Zionist dream of a Greater Israel.
18. Pal Negotiation people have no mandate
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (01.24.11)
Hence all their offers arr null and void. Every inch of East Jerusalem belongs to the new state of Palestine. Erekat has always been a failed negotiator anyway!
19. #3 - "So called Israel" - look at the Bible and the Romans..
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (01.24.11)
If you don't believe the Bible then look at history as documented by the Romans, because they kept very accurate records. Sadly yours is not a serious post and your name is most likely not "David".
20. Abbas
Mr Z.   (01.24.11)
The guy (abbas) is as old s the hills and his mind has definitely no longer up to par. Leave him alone with his dreams. Israel will NEVER belong to any arab people or countries.
21. Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran
Daniela   (01.24.11)
even once. When Mohammad died Al Aqsa was not buit yet. They built it about 50 years later. So Mohammad should have gone to heaven from another place, don't you think so? at that time the City was holy to jews already. So please stop with this issue once for all, Jerusalem will be never devided with anybody.
22. why can't they accept our refugees
larry ,   los angeles   (01.24.11)
Why can't the PA accept our refugees: the people who live in the settlements such as Hebron area and the Etzion block, the Shomron? Are they not democratic or are they racist?? Why doesn't any one write about this?
23. freedom for alAqsa can be left for palestinian alone
Syria Eagle ,   Homs   (01.24.11)
Less than 24 hours after the breakdown of its nuclear dialogue with the six world powers in Istanbul, Iran announced plans Sunday, Jan. 23, to send a fleet of warships, including a home-made destroyer, on operational and intelligence-gathering missions to the Red Sea and on to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.
24. Happy Hamas
Harry ,   Toronto   (01.24.11)
They must be hopping. I wonder if Abbas ceded Jerusalem in English or Arabic?
25. Wasn't aware the Palestinians had land to cede
Danny   (01.24.11)
26. So Israel's Left sold us out
Russ ,   tlv   (01.24.11)
Amazing. Reading the transcript in the JPost it's easy to see that we could have had peace but the left - Israel's peaceniks - sold us out. What's also interesting is that the Americans were in the dark as well - witness Pres. Hussain of America's insistence that Abbas hold firm on the settlements or there will be no peace.
27. Muayyad we do not divide Jerusalem with people that do not
(01.24.11)
recognize us, that after receiving what they want they will move another war to Jerusalem to get it all. stay in Gaza and Ramalla keep out of Jerusalem any inch of it will never be yours.
28. Jerusalem and Golan are out of negotiations.
(01.24.11)
should be clear already. get it.
29. #23 Eagle, how is that going to free al-Aqsa?
Eli   (01.24.11)
Israel could swat those boats, the way you swat mosquitoes.
30. Put a Fork in It
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (01.24.11)
Looks to me like two-states possibilities are about done. It appears that it is time to start planning on one state for all with equal rights. Even American Indian tribes get better treatment than Palestinians will ever hope to get under any two state scheme Israel might agree to. And with Israel wanting control of the Jordan Valley and everything in between, there will never be any hope for a two-state solution. Put a fork in it. It's done.
