No. You are quite right. The country is, after all, called "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland." (By the way, it's actually County Derry, not Londonderry.) All six are part of Ireland's Ulster province.

Having read your reply to my comments it appears to me that you like to make up a lot of untrue nonsense and throw around hollow/childish insults. I've been to 3 St. Patriks day parades in America. Two in New York city and one in Chicago. Those parades are very well organised and their participants are always well behaved. They are very colourful lively events that are attended by and enjoyed byso many people who are not Irish. I've seen countless people watching on the sideline waving an american flag along with an Irish flag on the day. What you said about the parades is a vile disgusting lie that anyone with an ounce of sense knows not to believe. My advice to you is to head on down to the parade next march and enjoy the event. Lap up Irish culture and have a Guinness. Careful though, dont drink too many! Some peoples are not able to hold their liquor so well! You want to know about the 6 counties. Well thanks for the interest. People are doin great up there these days. There's a lasting peace, the economy is in a hard place right now (like so many other places) but there's a lot of hope for the future once the current recession ends. The 6 counties have came a lot closer and more intwined with the republic since the Good Friday Agreement. Dublin now has a say in the affairs of the 6 counties (along with London) and we've set up a north south ministerial council which is a kind of power sharing executive. So the 6 counties has really came a lomg way. Peace has been achieved and there such a close and good relationship with the republic. A far cry from the qasaam rockets and suicide bombers of another land. What you said about The IRA operating in Lebanon is a nonsense, there was very little provo activity there. That's just fantasy on your part. An interesting fact about the Lebanon though is that the Irish Defence Force spent a perion of 15 years there under a UN mandate in a peace keeping role. They were stationed om the Israel/Lebanon border where they did a great job stopping the 2 belligerents kill each other. And Sarah the old slur about the drunken Irish is so lame it lets your intellect down. There are so many stereotypes about the Jews too but I have more class than to mention them here.
64. The difficulty in responding coherently
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (01.26.11)
to the vile keyoard in New York is that it rarely gets past the edit. Of course they could be one in the same. It pleases my soul that none are beyond Sarah's xenophobic keyboard. The Arabs, the Quebecois, the French and now the Irish.I think I'll leave you now Sarah. There was a time I was seriously concerned for your well being and that of Israel's. Whatever the historical mitigating factors for the behavior of both; the level of blanket bigotry exhibited has caused me to conclude that neither is worth redemption. Doubtless, this will come as good news to you. It will not change your bigoted nature and will be but one more drop in an ocean that is filling with others who have abandoned any hope for you. There is an old Jewish story of Jonah who was troubled when his god did not smite the citizens of Ninevah. In that ancient story, the god asks Jonah how he could possibly abandon his people and not find redemptive qualities in them. History has shown that that god has vacillated on his position over the years. Whatever the citizens of Ninevah did it might merit a revisit. When people- who have been sympathetic from the endless persecution suffered by the Jews - lose hope in you, it is ominous. Contrary to the cries that you have always been alone, you have not. While governments may have turned boats away during shoah, individuals soldiers sacrificed their lives. Screaming at the French and calling them all anti-semitic does an injustice to all those in the Resistance who sacrificed their lives. Deciding the Vatican's non intervention during WWll makes all "Catholics" anti-semites means you have to ignore those priests who lost their lives defending innocent Jews and Catholic families who placed themselves in danger. Your neighours know you hate them. Instead of showing them the wonders of Jewish culture and democracy, you have gone down a path where you choose a non inclusive religious state and show them your anger and contempt. Thank you all for enlightening me that all Irishmen are besotted. I must be missing that gene. Whether you all keep looking to a carcinogenic voice from the safety of New York which ask you to become entrenched in war and bigotry, or listen to the fable of Jonah, is your choice. Compassion for your plight was my payment, but that bank has no funds left.
65. Ray S, USA: Nonsense
David Levy ,   Cork, Ireland   (01.26.11)
If Ireland was biased towards anyobody during WWII is was the Allies. Ireland interned German POW's who crash landed on Irish territory while Allied Airmen were allowed to cross over the border into British controlled Northern Ireland. Ireland's neutrality was a reaction to the war weariness of the people following the Easter Rebellion, WWI, the War of Independence, Civil War and the Economic War with Britain in the 30's. Ireland was also a new and fragile state with virtually no defence forces and little industry. To enter a war with Europes great powers would have been suicidal for the nation. Aside from this many many thousands of Irish men fought and died with Britain and the US in WW2.

Put a sock in it, Sean. The only thing you have ever demonstrated in your posts is an abject ignorance of the history and politics of the Middle East and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Oh, and you're not too knowledgeable about international convention and law, either. Sorry. Epic fail on your part -- which is exactly what we have come to expect from you. Try harder next time, or find a forum where participants might actually think you know something. Here at YNet, we know better. Sorry. Please don't hate us because we're so smart.

How sad for you sarah. How small. You post links about some idiots getting drunk on st. Patricks day and propose this is the norm for all of Irish culture. Pathetic. There is no problem with the st. Patricks day parades in NYC, Boston and Chicago. These are events that are enjoyed by millions of people, not alone the Irish. If there was a serious problem with the parades or they [posed a threat to security then the authorities would have shut down. What you are attempting to do is put the Irish down by playing on an old (and i think now forgotten) stereotype. But it doesn't work. You are obviously not smart or you did not read the last sentance in my last comment. Everybody can play the old stereotype game. If I had little class about me and a small intellect I too could bring up all those nasty degrading and spiteful stereotypes about the Jews. But im not that small. You are not able to counter one of the comments in my last post with an intelligent remark. By the way, U seem to hate a lot of other people along with the Irish! Whats that all about?

1. You disclaimed what I said about public drunkenness and bad behavior on St. Patrick's Day. I live in New York City six months out of the year and I can tell you with absolute certainty that St. Patrick's Day in New York City is a nightmare for those of us who do not think that March 17th should be an excuse for public drunkenness and disgusting behavior on the part of the Irish. So, what's your problem? I proved it, didn't I? Yes, I did. Next? 2. Don't lecture me about Irish culture. Your definition of Irish culture is all about wheat and barley. Me, personally? I wrote a thesis on the poetry of William Butler Yeats. I have already forgotten what you have yet to learn about true Irish culture. So stuff it. 3. I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm about to burst your bubble. Oh well: http://globalsecuritystudies.com/Higley%20IRA.pdf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Republican_Army_%E2%80%93_Abwehr_collaboration_in_World_War_II http://thepoormouth.blogspot.com/2007/01/ireland-neutrality-ira-and-reich.html And, of course, William Joyce. Lord Haw Haw. Know about him? Here, let me help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Joyce 4. Don't challenge me intellectually. The last person that tried went home in tears. I can do that to you, if you wish, but somehow I think it won't be intellectually satisfying. You're too much of an open target. Sorry.

On this posting you did little more than descend into throwing out the most petty of stereotypes, and spiteful squall about the 6 Counties and IRA. You got small-time shrew, Sarah. The fellow Celt took you to task, and handled the matter with class. The prize goes to Philip in this particular match. Step your game up, girl, you usually operate better than this.

You make out that all of st. Patricks day in NYC is about drunkeness and bad behavior and that it is despised by the non Irish. How wrong you are. These comments make me believe that you know nothing about the city that you claim to spend 6 months of the year in. Having been in NYC twice on st. Patricks day I know how excited people of all backgrounds get on the day. I have seen how how New Yorkers who have zero connection to Ireland get off work early and head to the Irish pub with there friends to have some fun. I've heard them talk about how great the parade was and seen them wearing badges that say 'Im Irish on st. Patricks day'. Yet you claim that the whole thing is a nightmare for new york. What BS you talk sweetheart. You need a reality check next march 17. Its pointless you putting up links about negative aspects of March 17 because get this: I've been there, TWICE, I know the score, st. Patricks day is well received by the general population of NYC. It is not a nightmare, rather it is something that is enjoyed by the vast majority of New York Irish or non-Irish but hey- everybody is Irish on st. Patricks day, Right! What you are attempting to do, again I have to point this out to you, is paint the Irish as a typical stereotype because you are upset and frustrated by the actions of my government (which is only something other EU governments will follow suit with anyway). But as I have said before, playing stereotypes is not a smart move. It just shows lack of intelligent argument on your side. I wouldn't lower myself by brining up all the stereotypes of the Jew in an argument with you. So give it a rest dear and make some intelligent rebuks. As regards WW2 you really dont know what you are talking about. You make out that Ireland through the IRA was collaberating with the nazis. What an unbelievable lie. First of all,(and I know you will never get this) the IRA is an enemy to the Irish state, the Irish government and the Irish people. They are a fringe group of terrorists that are seen as a threat to democracy in Ireland and are hunted down and dismantled by the state. You claim that splinter groups such as the continuity IRA are what Ireland is. How dare you. You are so ignorant and intellectually inept as to put forward this BS notion. All forms of terroist activity is outlawed in Ireland and we're pretty good at keeping those misguided morons down. So stop with trying to insinuate that Ireland is a state that supports terror organisations because even your government (Israel), washington and the British government dont believe that. Ireland was not neutral in WW2. Thats a well known fact with anybody (obviously not you) that has a good fix on european history. The new Irish state at the time did a lot to help the allied effort. We weren't in the war directly but everyone knows which side we were on. There are numerous examples of Irelands support of the allies but rather than mention them here I encourage you to educate yourself on european history. You say that you can make me go home in tears. Really? how would that happen? Honey I could whip you in an intellectual argument any day of the week. Something else I would like to point out to you is that you never have acknowledged to good work of the Irish defense forces on the Israel/Lebanon border in the 1980's where they bravely held the peace between the 2 factions under a UN mandate. I reckon this probably makes your whole argument redundant and is a source of embarrasment to you.

Most of the western states are hostile towards Israel, because of their own interest. You have to remember there are 1.6 billion muslims against few million Jews, plus the main REASON western countries are afraid of OIL,OIL,OIL. I can give you GUARANTEE that in PRIVATE conversation, they agree 100% that ISRAEL is JEWISH LAND. READ THE BIBLE.

You come onto an Israeli news website telling us you dont care about Israel, that Israel is a dump, that the pallys deserve a state. Who are you to speak for all the Irish citizens? by saying "we believe in a free pally state" You throw insults at Sarah B. left, right & center & when she answers your posts, you take offence & spew garbage. You may have been to New York on St. Patricks Day but you have never been to Israel & you have no clue as to what the real situation is here. You could not take on Sarah B. in an intellectual arguement if you tried as your intellect is zero comapred to hers. Plus your spelling is atrocious. I have refuted each of your puerile arguments with documented evidence in support of my statements. You, on the other hand, have offered nothing but feeble and unsubstantiated, inarticulate arguments. Can you do better than launch insults and personal attacks? Or does your limited intellect preclude that?
90. Ireland? No Surprise.
Will ,   Ireland   (01.27.11)
A lot of ignorance in your post RayS, Thousands of Irish volunteered to join the British in WW2 despite Briton's history of oppression in our country. Hundreds of others joined other Allied forces, if you include the hundreds of thousands of soldiers of Irish decent in Britain's and US armed service they probably made up a disproportionate proportion of Allied Army's. In fact Irish soldiers are some of the most decorated and most respected wherever they serve.
