3. He's lucky that secular law rules the day
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (01.26.11)
Or he would have been put to death for the murder he committed. Strange how many of my co-religionists say that the seculars have no values, yet here they are valuing Jewish life more than those who call for Israel to be a total Torah state with the obvious inclusion of the death penalty. Hey religious Israelis and supporters of Feiglin - do you think he should have been put to death in accordance with Torah rule??? Or in a Feiglin world there would be a king of Israel who would grant pardons to all right wingers who kill left wingers they don't agree with?
4. He should be behind bars till he dies.

Who are you to decide somebody's faith? Are you God? Do you decide who has to die and who does not?
7. what about dozens of palestinians who serve multi life
shadi- Gaza ,   gaza strip   (01.26.11)
sentences in Israeli jails ??? will they be freed and reunited with thier families?? any eventual agreement with Israel MUST grant the release of all pal'n prisoners. the release of all prisoners means that the state of Israel save millions of NIS ( The annual cost of the services for the pal prisoners ) and redirect the budget into some beneficial social projects for the Isaeli people especially the unemployed whose figures are going up
8. another HERO

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.11)
multi life sentences means that they have murdered more than one Israeli . To free them all ? many of those who were freed have again tried to murder Israelis . This guy has'nt murdered "blindly" , it were political opponents [ not an excuse of course ] , while the pal's in jail attack people just because they are Israelis , maybe sometime even murdering Israeli Arabs .
12. "According to Avrushmi's aides"???
Miri ,   Ashdod   (01.26.11)
What the heck does he need "aides" for??? In prison for 27 years, has "aides" and already tries to slap a cameraman outside prison and take his camera away minutes after release. Terriffic Guy!! Sounds rehabilitated to me.
13. Valid reason for Y.Amir sentence review.

15. Thanks Birdi. I think Gregg needs a stronger cuppa joe
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (01.26.11)
Uh, Gregg, read my talkback again. I said he's lucky that there is secular law, not Torah law, so that he served time and was released back into society alive. I don't decide his or anybody else's faith, nor do I decide who has to die. That's in the Big Guy's hands, except when some criminal shmuck goes out and kills somebody - like Avrushmi did. Avrushmi pretended he was G-d, and took a life. Instead of killing him in return, society (yours and mine) stuck him in prison for 27 years where he couldn't kill anybody else on the street. Am I nervous that he's out of jail? Well, yea, given that the above report indicates he isn't so remorseful over killing an innocent person. And of course, as everybody knows I'm not even the messiah. I'm just a very naughty boy....
16. Jewish terrorist with blood on his hands
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israerl   (01.26.11)
I understand releasing political prisoners as part of prisoners exchange or information. But what did Israel gain from this terrorist's release?
17. Rami 16 , this murderer served his time
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.11)
Israel released this kunthar too . He also had served his time .
18. to brian@15

Well Brian, looks like rather sooner then later, even naughty boys like you will need to learn to play with wild boys llike Avrushmi as one team...They hold the future of the Jewish State and they are the Front of the Jewish People...

Israel Forever ,   Israel   (01.26.11)
Samir Kuntar was released for the 3 dead ( Israeli soldier's ) bodies. Get your facts straight.
20. really confused this time
observer   (01.26.11)
This (albeit unrepentant) murderer has served his time and is now being released. However, the tone of the article appears to not be so pleased with this. I realise that he killed one of their own, a left-wing demonstrator, but do they not accept the rule of law? If 27 years is what he got, and he duly served his time, whether he is remorseful or not, so what? Are other criminals judged for their remorse before release? Perhaps he's a psychopath who can't feel remorse. Perhaps he had a political agenda that he still believes in. If revenge is the purpose of prison, I understand the ill-feeling completely. But I thought that Israelis claim it to have a rationally based justice system. Do the left not agree with this either?
21. #£ Death penatly - yes. Banning of "peace now" - yes.
Faruq   (01.26.11)
Enemies of the state do not deserve the freedom to live in the state.
22. murder.
payer ,   planet earth   (01.26.11)
that murderer who killed someone of his own people should have the death penalty. he can kill again. society has to be protected from him! he has to dissapear from the face of the earth!
23. 19 , when correcting don't make ERRORS
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.11)

3 soldiers. 2 Jewish soldiers 1 Druze soldier. All 3 returned in body bags. It is well know that as we age our memory fades.

LOL, Charles you are wrong this time. Three dead soldiers were returned to Israel. Two were Jewish & one was Druze. Remember now ?
28. Birdi , mfa says two
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.11)
Look at ministry of foreign affairs . They say TWO . The decisuion was approved by 22 of 25 ministers to exchange kuntar and others for two Israeli soldiers .
29. Birdi . google samir kuntar
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.26.11)
On July 16, 2008, Hezbollah transferred coffins containing the remains of captured Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev,[33] in exchange for Kuntar and four Hezbollah [ wikipedia ] The mfa site gives the same numbers . And i remember that TWO coffins were transfered to Israel .
30. # 28
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.26.11)
two Jewish soldiers were kidnapped, were returned to Israel in body bags. The third soldier was a Druze who was killed during the fighting (he was not kidnapped) his body was also returned to Israel.
