Rosie ,   Israel   (01.27.11)
Don't say oi vey, say Moshiach is on the way! May G-d protect us all.
2. Right now, Dr. Gerstenfeld, the Israeli
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (01.27.11)
Jewish population is bound to secure its borders in an enlarged Israel combining The Golan and parts of Judea and Samaria. I think we are all beginning to realize how faulty it would be not to securely protect ourselves in the face of continued assaults on our integrity by external sources as well as sources (leftists, NGOs) from within. In fact, the more demonization, the more we harden our demands and invoke our sovereignity.
3. and, as was the case in the middle and late 1930s, the world
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (01.27.11)
by and large silent....!! But the same world demand of us, Jews, to lower our guards in Israel so as to please the demands of the Muslim-Arabs...!! What a cynical world..., and sadly, some Jews abroad part take in this cynicism....!!
4. A new holocaust
tejas ,   India   (01.27.11)
will come from within Israel. Sanctimonious, human right, leftist jewish elites will bring it.
5. Israel is the safest place on earth!.
JJ ,   USA   (01.27.11)
Hashem watches over it.
6. The problem
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.27.11)
As long as Israel controls Judea and Samaria, a nuclear weapon is not a problem. In Tel Aviv about 40000 people would be dead and Israel would survive thanks to the hills of Judea and Samaria. A second holocaust will happen when Judea and Samaria are turned over to Arab rule.
7. have some faith

10. mass murder
alexi   (01.27.11)
well, olmert and livni shaved barak's sellout to arafat and essentially agreed to 67 borders which fits into your narrative. Levi eshkol knew how to negotiate, you ask for 4 X what you want and meet in the middle. And walk away if a compromise is not possible even if your brothers limbs are blown off. This was olmert's weakness- he can't take blood. Livni is the same as olmert upscale Tel aviv and cannot take blood. UN resolutions says that israel can gain defensible borders and there is no explicit demand to go back to 67. Iin fact half of jordan belongs to israel. Likewise golan belongs to israel, and has been with it longer than syria. Olmert's policies have missiles in the south gaza, in the north lebanon, and hamas will gain the west bank if israel withdraws and that would happen fast. And the UN would try to limit israel's response by charging it with goldstone for every respnse that is not proportionate. israel cannot win a proportionate war as it is surrounded disproportionately. if israel wants to get by the delegimization murder scenario, it has to threaten to take out all enemies withits might which it could even if it goes down. It has to say that iranians will go down all of them if they throw missiles at israel. Livni's red lines would lead to the destruction of israel as she smirked proudly' was are withdrawing from the golan" What an idiot!
11. Not afraid
Matthew Lusia ,   Arnhem, Holland   (01.27.11)
I'm not afraid of any threats, I believe in the might and power of the IDF and the Israeli (Jewish) people. That's why I will make Aliyah, Israel is the safest place on earth for the Jews.
12. Well Reasoned and Realistic
emanon ,   USA   (01.27.11)
As Jews, we need to realize anti-Zionism is the same as anti-Israel and, ultimately, anti-Jewish. All the investment withdrawals and all the boycotts must be countered. Further, there is a growing undercurrent in the US against Jews. We must be aware and able to respond. Never again!
13. ETERNAL THREAT!!!
al mann ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (01.27.11)
The Israelites were and still are constantly threatened by extermination. Throughout history, from time immemorial the Israelites were always threatened by the sons of Esau and Ishmael. They are angry and frustrated because they haven't succeeded. Is there someone protecting the children of Israel from total decimation? Isn't it about time that history be internalized and not only objectively studied?
14. Matthew #11: It's reassuring to read
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (01.27.11)
your comment and to know of your intention.
15. Aliyah Now!!!! Right Now!
Heather Czerniak ,   Mississauga, Canada   (01.27.11)
My husband and I moved up to Canada less than a year ago from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My husband is originally from Canada and he was especially shocked at the horrendous spread of anti-Semitism in Canada. So we're both packing up the kids and moving once again...to Israel. Israel is where every conscientious Jew should be right now. Not all of us will heed the warning signs, but GET THE WORD OUT!!!! Things are about to get worse here in the West. Trust me, you don't want to stick around to see what it will be like in a year from now. Make aliyah now while many of you have at least enough money for a plane ticket.
16. #6 And a nuke on Jerusalem?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (01.27.11)
In a radius of 15 km, it would turn into ashes half a million Arabs (Bethlehem, Ramalla, Est J'lem): They are our human shields, provided the Persians are not globally antisemitic. Maybe they would not hesitate to eradicate both Jews and Arabs.
17. Dropping the Bomb......
Harry ,   Jerusalem   (01.27.11)
will definitely end the current arab Israeli conflict. Would further prove that the arab world care nothing about the so called Fals. Only an idiot would think, that if a bomb went off, it would only wipe out Israelis. I believe the real threat and worry is all the other 20+ arab countries that Iran will fry, to take control of all their lands, and then continue to take over the World. But then again, people are stupid enough to let the situation play out.
18. "Palestinians" pose the biggest Holocaust threat.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.27.11)
As the author noted, Abba Eban called the 1967 armistice line "the borders of Auchwitz". It is beyond belief that any sane Jew wants us to return to these deadly borders. That is what the Two State Final Solution intends to do. "Palestinians" pose the biggest Holocaust threat of anyone. Their covenants and media scream out for mass murder of Jews every day. Yet most of our leaders aren't listening. They keep up the dangerous sham of the "peace talks" as if everything is okay. It brings to mind the German Jewish leaders calming the Jewish community by telling them Hitler was a crank who would soon go away. Israel has to deal with the reality that "Palestinians" are mortal enemies. Not peace partners. We must face reality. Not pleasant delusions.
19. 5 , hashem watches ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.27.11)
You make me "laugh" with this stupidity . An inexisting something can't watch and protect . Remember the Shoa .
20. Matthew in Arnhem .
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.27.11)
Welkom thuis !
21. charles 19
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (01.27.11)
so you do not think that Israel surviving in a sea of hate and violence for sixty years and violence is a miracle or the fact that Israel is an economic miracle while the arab world, the US and Eurabia is facing financial meltdown and is descending into anarchy is not a miracle If you trust in Hashem the enemies of the Lo'rd go up in a puff of smoke [mushroom cloud ]Psalm 68 v3
22. 19 charles i will prove Hashem watches and more
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (01.27.11)
every concession that Israel made to the arabs caused war whereas when Israel stopped the peace process it created peace and stability .Why i believe it was G-d s way of stopping the peace process as it says deuteronomy ch 7 v16" you eye shall not have mercy on them [for if you do] they will be a bomb to you" I believe it was the divine way of stopping the peace process and moving on to the next step Joshuach11v20 "it was from G-d that there heart was hardened to you .......in order that you should destroy them"
23. YES,AND THE WORLD AND THE UN IS HELPING IT COME ABOUT
wales ,   chris   (01.27.11)
When the Nations and the UN BECOME Hostile to Israel, then the Surrounding Enemies find moral support and excuse. 1. Before 1990, Security Council passed 175 resolutions, 97 were directed against Israel (It is 55% of all resolutions). 2. Before 1990, UN General Assembly voted on 690 resolutions, 429 were directed against Israel (It is 62% of all resolutions). 3. The UN was silent when Jordanians destroyed 58 Synagogues in Jerusalem. 4. The UN was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives. 5. The UN was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall. 6. The UN was silent while for 18 months Israel was terrorized by indiscriminate suicide bombing campaign unleashed by PA leadership. 7. There are 60 Muslims countries in the UN. As well as many more are others Arab oil dependant states. 8. Israel is the ONLY MEMBER OF THE UN THAT IS NOT PERMITTED MEMBERSHIP ON THE SECURITY COUNCIL. 9. Israel is the only country excluded from the U.N.'s regional group system… Since Israel does not belong to any group, it is the only country of 190 member states that is not eligible to serve on the numerous U.N. commissions… 10. In recent years, the U.N. Commission on Human Rights has annually passed five resolutions condemning Israel. This year, they passed seven. By contrast, each of the following countries/regions has been the subject of only one resolution: Afghanistan, Burundi, Congo, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Russia/Chechnya, Sierra Leone, Southeast Europe and Sudan… 11. Nov. 29 is the United Nations Day of International Solidarity with the Palestinian People. No other people has a U.N. Day of Solidarity… 12. Israel is the only state to which a special investigator with "an open-ended mandate to inspect its human rights record" is assigned by the U.N. 13. It is the only state targeted by two special committees and special units of the U.N. Secretariat ostensibly devoted to the Palestinians but in reality dedicated to Israel-bashing worldwide, costing millions of dollars a year. 14. UNIFIL, the U.N. force stationed on the Israel-Lebanon border, hid a videotape of Israeli soldiers being abducted by Hezbollah in October 2000. After finally admitting to having the tape, the U.N. would only show an edited version (in which Hezbollah faces were hidden) to the Israeli government. 15. UNESCO, in Paris, began passing resolutions about protection of Jerusalem holy sites and access for Muslims in 1968. No resolutions about protection or Jewish access were passed from 1946 to 1967 when Jordan controlled Jerusalem and barred Jews from entering… It is Time to "Leave Egypt" by Steven Shamrak - August 31, 2002 1. Israel is on a front line of the war between Arab-Muslim expansionism and Western democracy. This war has already shifted to America and Europe. 2. According to UN own legal opinion: Judea, Samaria and Gaza does not belong to any country at the moment. Therefore, it is wrong to call them ‘Occupied territories’. They used to be a part of Jewish land. There was never Arab country in the Palestine. 3. So-called Palestinians are Arabs who moved to the territories during the last 130 year, after the Jews started re-vitalizing the land. 4. Arabs have no intention to live in peace with Jews. When Nasser, former president of Egypt, was asked: “Why do you continue to fight Israel after so many defeats?” His answer was: “Because. We need to win only one war!” Arabs aim is a total destruction of Jewish state! 5. Arabs respect charisma and strong leadership. It is the time for Israel and her government to show it and stop terror. 6. Enemies and so-called friends have never treated Jewish people as equal. They will never support Israel unconditionally, They do not respect facts where Israel is concern (remember so-called Jenin massacre).
24. dehumanizing israel
moron ,   galut   (01.27.11)
it's enemies atart in jewish press
25. Gerstenfeld's blatant omission...
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor   (01.27.11)
is of course that It was Israel that introduced nuclear weapons into the Middle East and is now threatening Iran. If I were an Iranian I would want my government to get nuclear weapons as soon as possible to cancel out the real and present danger of a nuclear attack by Israel on Iran. Gerstenfeld is also hiding behind Abba Eban's ridiculous notion of the 1949 borders as "Auschwitz borders" to whip up the hysteria and the warmongering. The Arab World in its Beirut Peace Initiative of 2002 has offered Israel peace and stability within the pre-June 1967 borders. This will be guaranteed not only by the USA, but by NATO. But Israel is hiding behind and even abusing the memory of the Holocaust, while in the mean time grabbing more and more Palestinian land and continuing to violate international law. Enough is enough. Stop hiding behind the Holocaust. Stop abusing the memory of all those who died in the Holocaust by ignoring systematically international law and the principles as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights when it comes to the treatment of the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories.
26. To number 25.
Alice ,   UK   (01.28.11)
Every inch of Israel was given to the Jewish people. Sorry to hurt your feelings.
27. To number 23.
Felicia ,   Israel.   (01.28.11)
Thank you for telling the truth. Everything you have written is 1OO% true.
28. #25 Ben
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.28.11)
It would help these talkbacks if you used facts, not your imagination. Israel never threatened Iran. It is surrounded by much larger countries that want to annihilate it. If Israel was so quick as to use nuclear weapons they would have used them when attacked on Yom Kippur. Saudi Arabia has admitted that the Peace Initiative is meant as a "suggestion" to the Arab governments: they cannot guarantee what each government would do. And in the end, it is a piece of paper. The Arabs have a habit of not keeping agreements. There have been 63 years of war? Fine; withdraw to the 1948 armistice lines (they are not "1967 lines") after 63 years if peace; real peace. And READ the many reliable reports from non Israeli sources: Gaza is not starving! You may also want to mention a 'minor detail': Israel withdrew from Gaza and got Hamas. They are the cause of the Gazans suffering. And they are the ones ignoring international law and the principles as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as most Arab countries.

30. #25 Ben's nutty opinions
Phil ,   Ireland   (01.28.11)
Yet again Alofs supports right wing etremism by wanting Iran to get nuclear weapons. Great call!! If you think Israel can have peace and stability within pre-June 1967 borders, then you're even nuttier. It didn't work pre-June 1967 when Israel was within these borders, so what makes you think it will now? The word of the Arab World? A world which is in turmoil. Countries who cannot control their own terrorists. Countries who allow open Anti-Semitism to run rife. Countries whose own leaders are under threat from within. Neither the USA nor NATO can guarantee the word of such countries. If you really care about the Palestinian people, then speak out against the human rights abuses inflicted on them by Hamas and the PA. Speak out about the human rights abuses of Palestinan terrorists when they murder Israelis. Yes this does happen but not once do you speak out against it. Hypocrite!! Six million Jews died in the Holocaust and now the aim of the pro-Palestinans is to drive another six million into the sea. "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" is the chant from these "human rights" activists. Hardly a promise of peace and stability within pre-June 1967 borders do you think?
