1. Galant
Gershon   (01.28.11)
Are there no honest people left in Israel? How could this guy be made Chief of Staff now that it is known that he planned to steal public land?
2. More emotional appeals.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (01.28.11)
"He gave his whole life for Israel", what a lot of old old baloney. He chose to be a professional soldier and has been paid for his services. Seems that a character fault and his inability to realise that the rules of selection have changed will prevent him from being commander in chief. He should have thought about this along the way.
3. inorder to head israels army...
(01.28.11)
you have to be good at stealing land, without being cought in the act!
4. As things stand, he shouldn't become Chief of Staff
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (01.28.11)
....Notwithstanding..(if it's not too late)...if he admits that he screwed up and behaved arrogantly with a heartfelt apology...let the Israeli public decide in a referendum whether he gets the post or not... after all...he's only human and yet, maybe a great commander to boot ie give him a chance
5. "He gave his whole life...."
Freha Barbladi ,   Gibraltar   (01.28.11)
Gread saying: but is he fit to be IDF Chief; that is the question. Sure, multitude of Israelis have given their whole life (some left it as HEROES on the battle fields) and the Nation is surely recognised their deeds with care and pride. Galant has missed the opportunity not because he failed to serve his country, but because he failed in his caracter. It is too well known that people with "defective prespective about their worth" are their worst enemy. Here, in just one instant of his multifaceted great man, his whole world changed, but because of his doing. On that , our sages have quite whole library to tell us what to do with Galant: let him go home, not to the Army.
6. shame on left
moti ,   usa   (01.29.11)
burning mans carrier over a drive way!!! LET THE MAN HAVE THE DRIVE WAY..... open land subburb, making it sound like he took hundreds of acres
7. Things that we know that we don't know
Pinhas Bayit ,   Bet HaKerem   (01.29.11)
We all know when we're being dishonest and when we are lying. We don't know if and when we will be found out for those sins. Often we know that the things we do are for public praise and support, not because we should do them anyway. Yoav Galant knows about his theft of public land and his lies in an affidavit denying it. If he doesn't then he's a psychopath and shouldn't be entrusted with the lives of our sons. And if he knows the truth then he should step aside from his candidacy for Chief of Staff, and not allow his arrogance to lead him blindly on, because he is tainted and he cannot be trusted with the lives of our sons and if he stays in the running and actually gets the role he doesn't deserve, then he is guilty of bringing our army and our state into disrepute and we the nation should not allow ourselves to be so shamed.
8. Another crook
Yobo ,   Australia   (01.29.11)
How can you trust a proposed Chief of Staff devoid of morals and character to defend his country and my children if he lies and enriches himself by stealing public land? This is the similar conduct of graft, corruption and cronyism that is endemic in Israel by Presidents, a Prime Minister and convicted Knesset members.
