1. What a freakin moron!! Egyptians want a govt. FREE of Hosni.
(01.29.11)
2. Mubarak Doesn't Get It!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (01.29.11)
As with all the other Arab countries the Egyptian government is corrupt and rotten from the top down. We are seeing an explosion in the Middle East and hopefully, a move towards democracy - if they can handle it.
3. Ha,ha,ha. Hosni will be lucky if he survives the weekend
w/out a bullet in ,   his head.Time to go!   (01.29.11)
4. Why not dr. Zawahiri to replace Mubarak?A surgeon.
Husain ,   3rd Russian capital~KAZAN   (01.29.11)
5. More freedom???
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (01.29.11)
That these movements are to open Muslim countries to freedom and democracy, I have serious doubts, also might be the reverse, and ends up falling into the hands of governments like Iran, but theocracy, but dictatorship, less freedom. Hopefully, I was wrong.
6. Just as communism fell across all of Europe,so will be the
The slaves have had ,   enough of Pharoh!!!!   (01.29.11)
death of ruthless evil religious dictators all across the Middle East. It's been a long time coming. Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty we're free at last!!!!
7. Hosni may not have been good, but he's not a psychopath.
David ,   Hartford USA   (01.29.11)
If the Brotherhood takes over, and there's a very good chance it would, then Israel would have whackos on all sides- and a three-front war would be a very real possibility. Israel would probably have to rely on tactical nukes to disarm Syria and the nutjobs in Lebanon. Egypt can be put down with conventional weapons (as they know so well). Whatever happens, just don't let Jimmy Carter near anyone!
8. David, no.7 - You're forgetting some other players
Bodkin   (01.29.11)
It's not only Egypt, Syria and Lebanon who are of concern. Other forces which might join the fray against Israel include Iran, Turkey, Hamas, and even Jordan, should the uprisings there lead to an Islamist takeover. And could America be counted on for any kind of assistance? And to what extent would Russia and China play an antagonistic role? Heck, even North Korea might get in on the action somehow. Despite all the above, my money's still on Israel.
9. sorry but i fail to see the humor here
(01.29.11)
with nuts to the east, west ,north and south, israel is not that big of a country. now you got lots o arabs out of work with something of a big chip on their shoulder. and now there are some 400 million who suround us folks. no i do not find this very funny at all. 1981 jimmy carter shoved this sinai deal down our throats for a worthless piece of paper good for 32 years until it expires with hosni. now we gonna give away golan and west bank? ih hope not. this is not good.
10. Bodkin # 8
Ginette Golden ,   TORONTO, CANADA   (01.29.11)
Right on my friend! My money is still and will always be on Israel. I have a fantasy and that is to watch all the Arab Muslims A.K.A. extremists A.K.A. destroyer of human life, eat each other until there are none left. The more I think about it, the more I like my fantasy! Shabbat Shalom,
11. Mubarak will be gone...
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (01.29.11)
All he is doing is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. He will transfer his assets and split. What happens next is anybodys guess.
12. #9, Strategy is owned by Dr. K, not Clinton
Paul Freedman ,   Falls Church, USA   (01.29.11)
Hey, where we are is not owned by President Clinton but Dr. Kissinger, who forced Israel not to decisively destroy the 6th Egyptian Army in 1973 (that Sharon had surrounded) but to disengage and permit a later opening for a peaceful solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. So Camp David was a follow-up on a strategy that was set some years before--a strategy that may have run its geopolitical course. Might tell us something about the general life of peace agreements, or not, depending on how Mubarak fares. Problem is that the Western intelligentsia are tired of Israel, Zionism, and "the Jews" cutting down the margin of error for the Jewish state.
13. Obama finally finds his voice
Danny   (01.29.11)
Weird when an enemy like Iran does the same thing, he is weirdly silent.
14. Obama has exhibited how novice he is in Mideast matters
Said   (01.29.11)
should not give advice to anyone. His knowledge of the regional and its peoples, and his understanding of the history of this part of the world does not qualify him to say a word, to anyone!
15. Mubarak will be history in a few days...and so will
Edithann ,   USA   (01.29.11)
the US and Israeli influence ....hahahaha....we're getting our asses kicked all over the M-E . And now with the Palestinian Papers being released and the Palestinians realizing the extent of the dishonesty of Israel and the US...I would imagine things will change very soon on the Palestinian front also...... Palestine will demand reparations for all lands lost since '48...and all settlements remaining on Palestinian soil to pay property taxes to the new Palestinian government, which is already in the making... Can we say Diaspora again? TATA
16. haha #7: " just don't let Jimmy Carter near anyone! "
(01.29.11)
17. Obama, has suddenly become a non-factor...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.29.11)
and nobody really cares what he says. In the end, Mubarak will do what's good for Mubarak.
18. What does a fish do when taken out of the water?
Nour ,   One-State   (01.29.11)
Jerks around violently, looking for its comfort zone, and gasping for breath. That's exactly what the Dictator of Cairo is doing. He is just delaying the inevitable: his official ouster, and his death. Apparently he still does not accept his mortality, and the death of the phony "political process" with Zionism.
19. Obama Hussien is Americas # ENEMY! the man is a danger
Danny   (01.29.11)
to the free world!!!!
20. To the hysterionics: I hear Bin Laden is looking for a job.
Observer ,   Globe   (01.29.11)
Get it? Careful what you ask for. Yes Egypt needs big reform, probably even less than Saudi Arabia and Iran and most muslim or arab countires...BUT going ballisti8c and destroying everything and sacking Hosni will bring you a Qaddafix10 instead.
21. Sacking a Mubarak..... and getting an Iraq in his place
Observer ,   Globe   (01.29.11)
.... sacking a Hosni and getting a Qaddafi in his place. You think some superman ghandi will emerge? No such thing. Either you are pro west or pro Islam/communist countries...no in between. So sack Hosni and get Egyptastan where unemployment will match irans 30%. you think 12% is bad? try 30% see how that tastes. best thing is if hosni does what he sayd, new government, more freedom, new economic plan to help his country, etc.
22. Obama playing 1 on 1 basketball in his head. Iran revolution
Observer ,   Globe   (01.29.11)
he was a cricket in the wheat fields, here he is pissing all over the pro west mubarak. I tell you, this dudes brain on foreign policy is that of a useful idiot.
23. Deja vu or Back to the future
Erudite ,   Australia   (01.29.11)
Why is it when the U.S.A. votes in an idealistic leftist Idiot an Islamic country falls to the hands of Terrorists.Egypt like Iran will sooner or later become a enemy to the West.......The domino theory is alive and well in the Middle east . ...........God help us all.
24. Mubarak is coming to israel and Camp david accords is void
Egyptian   (01.29.11)
25. #12, Western intelligentsia have never had stomach
Anshel ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.29.11)
don't have to go too far in history, 1938, Neville Chamberlain & Co. caved in to Hitler, gave away part of Czechoslovakia, we all know the result, in 1945 Churchill and Roosevelt caved to Stalin, they gave away Eastern Europe, we all know the result. In 1981 Carter caved to the Ayatollah, we all know the result. In 1952 a young army officer Nasser took over Egypt, we all know the result. The revolutions in the Arab world don't bring solution's to its people, another strongman will emerge a who knows? and what will happen to the peace treaty with Israel, what will happen to the border with Gaza and with the so-called democratically elected Hamas. So, why worry about the the Western spineless intelligentsia?
26. # 21 No partner for Israel at all after this..hahah (end)
Edithann ,   USA   (01.29.11)
27. Obama is a disaster
Christian ,   Sweden   (01.29.11)

28. #15 Mubarak not going anywhere. End of your theory. TATA
(01.29.11)
29. #17, Noodles...You are right, Nobumma
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.29.11)
is toast and Israel must do what needs to be done, if Egypt collapses, the Golan MUST be taken back immediately !!!!...the Muslim in the White House has NO power at all to prevent this from happening...!!!!
30. #18 said the piranha
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.29.11)
Masters of the "phony political process", your leaders are nothing to write home about. Remember Arafat? He stole the Palestinians blind and controlled every aspect of Palestinian life.
