With egyptian instability, it is obvious that israel has to have sufficeint ground in the north to buffer the fighting like the golan. Control of the jordan valley is critical as the moslem brotherhood would start fires nearby. And hamas has to be neutralized. Just as in 48, the ring of arab enemies is impressive backed up by Turley and the bleeding hearts from the EU. Israel has to have some room to flex its idf. Concessions proposed by olmert adn braverman will lead to the implosion of the state. do you want israel to be like the Turkish and iranian jews, prisoners in their own houses??!! Rather than freak out like haaretz and ynet authors, hold steady, prepare yourselves and keep heart.

"Intelligence failure? Mubarak couldn't predict uprising either." Obviously everybody was out of touch big time, to the point of self-delusion. That's why nobody can understand what's going on now: reality just hit them with a two-by-four, and they're left reeling. The bottom line, however, is that you can't expect that people subject to a dictatorial government will be happy with it. And to that extent every dictatorship is on thin ice, no matter how stable it may appear superficially.

I predicted it for several years. It was merely a matter of time and the correct spark. It was entirely predictable and anybody in the intelligence field that didn't see this coming should be fired. Mubarak is through. The use of the military and American equipment violates US Aid laws. Egypt is no longer going to get any money. Yes they are through.

The meaning of this, you can not predict when Jordan, Syria or any Arab country is going to erupt, sooooo, do not take anything for granted and be NICE to the people around you so they do not hurt you when they can :)

Stephen's Law: "Everything that happens is always a surprise, but after the fact proves perfectly predictable."

it's not the first failure, SURE will not be the last.

Egypt will descend into permanant anarchy A Mad Max society
10. no intelligence failure ?
Zev ,   Israel   (01.31.11)
this is what people who fail will usually say. Intelligence is to be aware and prepare for any contingency no matter how improbable it is thought to be. Whoever did not think that this might happen does not have much intelligence.

Mubarak and the Israel establishment (filled with Leftists) were surprised by the uprising. Somehow, Right-wing Israeli Talkbackers writing in YNet predicted the uprising. Can someone explain?
