Syrians r Already planning protests and when the do, damascus will burn and Assad will flee like a dog. He is a dictator and Syrians have it much worse than Egyptians do but what Assad has in his favor is an enemy ( Israel ). Dictators need enemies so they can be the champion of the people against that enemy. If Assad made peace with Egypt he would no longer be there to protect his people and they would start thinking what is this guy doing for us we are fed up with him and want to choose our own leaders.. Also if Israel made peace with Israel it would be seen as a sign of betrayal by Hizbollah. Assad is now making peace with the zionist entity breaking his ties with us (as he would have to do ) Loyal Hizbollah have been fighting the zionist entity all these years while Assad sat back and did very little to help them. He would be looked on as a traitor and they would probably want him dead. So he would either be overthrown by his people of killed by Hizbollah. It was Sadat who made peace and the Egyptians have had 30 years to come to terms with that fact so Mubarak is not the traitor he is just running the country badly and the people want change. I am not even sure its democracy the Egyptians are looking for its just not Mubrak and if another dictator came along but one they liked they are so used to dictatorship they might be content with that. Its Assad who would be damaged by peace with Israel not Mubarak although if the wrong people replace him hostility to Egypt may change.
