1. she says there not turning there back
Josh ,   montreal   (02.01.11)
Merkel says there not turning there back on Mubarak while they serve his kidney's on silver platter, i mean what have they done on this issue besides degrade him as a leader and promote his downfall, all this because of the food crisis in Egypt, and not 1 western countries offers any help, they just sit back and add fuel to the fire. how they can tell Israel there trusted allies, while continuing to degrade Israeli leaders in the press, which unfair bias in there damands for negotiations, i mean when you tell an ally that there sovereignty should be decided in negotiations while settlements must stop before those negotiations happen, what type of friend is that?
2. honorary doctor my ass
(02.01.11)
go back to the deutchland- andwork on your own problems there frau merkel. and quit interefering with our land or else you will wind up with some left over jews to once again inhabit the rhineland.
3. Indeed, don't miss!! This should be addressed to the Arabs..
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.01.11)
...who have not missed any opportunity to miss an opportunity for peace. Will the Arabs prove this astute observation correct once again...??
4. ISRAEL should TRUST no ONE!
WITH all due respect   (02.01.11)
5. peace
larry ,   Israel   (02.01.11)
a Peace deal with the Palestinians. or a peace deal with the Jordanians or a peace deal with the Egyptians is just peace on a piece of paper ,it can be torn up, as soon as they are over turned in an arab uprising . Better a stalemate !!
6. ARBEIT MACHT FREI
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (02.01.11)
Now ..where have I heard this before ?
7. Lapdog of Barry and Hillary. Do your own dirty work, Yanks.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (02.01.11)
8. @ #4
shlomo ,   USA   (02.01.11)
Great idea! LOL, The right wing Israeli mantra: Trust no one, not even American Jews. And when tourism dries up and no one buys Israeli products, how is that lack of trust going to serve Israel. Who do you think is one of the leading advocates for the US support of Israel? Christians? If you trust no one no one will trust you, it works both ways. Total distrust is self defeating. Try it sometime with your friends and family and see the result.
9. Obama most certainly stabbed Mubarack
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.01.11)
in the back. Let's not butter up the public with misdirection on what Obama has done. Obama and the CIA probably staged this coup. They were immediately on the news programs pushing this coup. Is everyone just blind and stupid? Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as Jimmy Carter are involved. They are pushing this disaster on the news channels in the United States. They might as well be putting Bin Laden into Egypt's Presidential Palace. This is only going to lead to a muslim theocracy...pushing Sharia Law and the oppression of anyone who isn't a muslim. Khaffers will be the ones with no rights and no Democracy. Cows being led to the slaughter.
10. There's a historic chance for Merkel
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (02.01.11)
Give here a historical chance to f... off.
11. Vile Racist Jew-Hate of Germany.Peaceful Jews are a Problem?
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (02.01.11)
It was also unacceptable to G-D hater Hitler and his filthy Nazis that Jews lived in Europe. Jews, continue living, breathing and building in the G-D given ancestral Jewish homeland of Judea, Samaria and holy Jerusalem.
12. Let them impose a solution on the arabs.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.01.11)
13. Painful concessions
Freddy ,   Israel   (02.01.11)
She says that there should be painful concessions from both sides but still requests only Israel to do them... When will we hear a leader name the painful concessions the Palestinians have to do ? Does she mean that it would be painful to abandon their dream to flow Israel with refugees ? or to temporarily abandon the terrorism ?
14. PLEASE shut her up
Esther ,   Israel   (02.01.11)
Israel (Jews) will NEVER trust a German
15. There is a time & place for everything.
tiki ,   belgium   (02.01.11)
Mrs. Merkel, usually a very pragmatic woman, but now she's talking nonsense. The only thing that MUST STOP is the "stop the settlement mantra and the "now is the unique and last opportunity for peace nonsence. NOW is 'not the time nor the place to continue with this useless blabber. It's about time that EU leaders start conveing this message to whom it concernes..., the Arabs, the Pals, it will be more rewarding.......IF the'll want to hear it. It's "because they convey the message to the wrong parties 'all the time, the ME is in such turmoil.
16. A German leader should best know
BH ,   Iowa   (02.01.11)
the foolishness of dividing a city. Divided cities simply don't work. Merkel may think she means well, but she's a fool nonetheless.
17. MERKEL: Yes, I know your peace treaty with Egypt is gone
Schreiber   (02.01.11)
MERKEL: But Israelis, listen to me, you must absolutely give up more land and reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians. It is essential for world peace, and I'm sure the Palestinians will respect the letter and the spirit of that agreement. Really (giggle). Believe me. So be good boys and girls and stop building those nasty settlements, withdraw from the area, and leave a Jew-free land for the Palestinians. I say this as your friend. Germany loves you. Believe me.
18. Israel has no obligation to create a terror state.
USA   (02.01.11)
Or to recognize such a state. There is plenty of Arab real estate where a phony state can be created. PA state train has left the station in 1990'S.
19.  I will tel"l you that you are missing an opportunity"-Merk.
Alan ,   SA   (02.01.11)
She is right! An opportunity to commit suicide by Pal. On the contrary=Its time nowadays to be even more careful with wonderful EU and Obama opportunities.
20. #6-no...its OPPORTUNITIES MACHT FREI!
Alan ,   SA   (02.01.11)
21. Panic! Panic sets in...
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (02.01.11)
The EU knows the foreboding future: a unified Islamic alliance (Caliphate) is in its incipient brewing state...Turks in "Almanya" (Germany). They won't stay far away from their brethren already ensconced in Europe and the "Reconquest" shall begin in earnest. Get this: no amount of pressure on the Jews will placate the raging Islamists; - 700 years of backwardness, poverty, hunger cannot be eradicated. They cannot feed their ebullient population with sand...what else they have of value: oil money is not enough. And for those on the Marxist leftist side: remember your prophet's wisdom: material needs control one's mind and your vile Israel hatred will not produce bread for the raging scum.
22. Tell Merkel Israel is not for sale.
bruno ,   portugal   (02.01.11)
Mrs. Merkel is a disciple of Mr. Moon from the UN . There is only one thing I understood about her message to the Jewish state. Either she is trying to ensure her job as the German chancelor or else she cannot disagree with the UN. What poor and decadent politicians we have in Europe today. The weaker you are the better is the rule of the game if you want to become a successful politician in Europe. No wonder they'll put Europe for sale one of these days...
23. ISRAEL IS MAKING A HISTORIC STATEMENT BY BUILDING!
stude ham   (02.01.11)
we do not need a complete foreigner to tell us how and where and when to rebuild on our reclaimed lands. the foreign invaders had plenty of time in the last century to make peace with the jewish reconstructionists. instead, they made war and lost it all. merkel is obviously ignorant of history. BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
24. Merkel , you are a sham.
Matt ,   UK   (02.01.11)
How dare you lecture the Egyptians about democracy. How dare you threaten them with what was done to the Gazans after their free and fair elections. The peoples choice is the essence of democracy and you do not get to tell them who to chose. Gaza will have its day when Israel and Egypt dictators collapse. The writing is on the wall for those who have bankrolled the tyrannical Arab regimes.
25. what a stupid statment to make
chris ,   wales   (02.01.11)
The European leaders are like a Parrot ,Bla bla bla LIKE A BROKEN RECORD..the same old Red herring..It doesn't wash..I Never hear Europeans tell Abbas that Denying the right of a Jewish State is an Obstacle to peace, and that Ethnically cleansing Jews from Judea and Samaria is not going to happen. is it time an Israeli Politician will get Indignant with them and tell them they can cite the same ole mantra over and over but we will not listen!Only then will the EU Take Israel Seriously! Israel is too diplomatic!
26. Free advice ?
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (02.01.11)
Who needs Merkel's advice ? She is not taking the risk for herself and for her country of being thrown to the sea, although three millions of Muslim under her care will backfire rather sooner than later.
27. MERKEL HAS MISSED AN HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY....
(02.01.11)
...to keep her mouth shut when and where it was best not opened. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
28. Who would tell Merkel that settlements are legal
Seppo ,   Finland   (02.01.11)
Obama and Clinton keep on saying that America DOES NOT ACCEPT the legitimacy of settlements. Even if they don't accept the legitymacy their OPINION does not make them illegal. Merkel does not believe what American lawyers have told to Obama how to behave legally. She keeps on repeating that they are illegal. Why Israel should stop something for which she has legal rights. Merkel just wants to appease Arabs following Winston Churchill's footsteps who already divided Palestine giving Arabs 76 % of area promised to Israel.
29. I apoligise
Carsten Schmidt ,   Germany   (02.01.11)
In such a situation as the current one it is unpolitical and stupid to repeat the silly dogma of the settlements being the obstacle to peace. The arab world is in turmoil and she is talking about the settlements. This is so embarrassing! Where was peace when the settlements even didn't exist? Where is peace in Gaza? At the border to Lebanon? Mrs. Merkel, are you out of your mind?
30. its exactly as merkel says...
eporue ,   europe   (02.01.11)
there is no "peace", there is at best a "calm"... and that is unsustainable... and the settlements are the main obstacle to an agreement with the palestinians. that she said, and its right.
