31. Khamenei rhetoric may well backfire
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.04.11)
I've been able to cover these events better than journalists on the scene becaue they've been hampered by pro-Mubarak undercover provocateurs while I've been able to monitor al Jazeera almost continuously--which is more than some of the al Jazeera reporters themselves have been able to do (see the updates, beginning a couple of day ago, in our Web Café, URL below). Interestingly, this may be the future of news reporting. An anti-Mubarak spokesman from among the protesters commented on the statement by Khamenei, explicitly explaining that he was using diplomatic politeness while effectively dismissing Khamenei's opinion as political wishful thinking in an attempt to take political advantage. There has been a phobic concern among Egyptians, fomented by the pro-Mubarak supporters, that the Egyptian thawra (revolution) was not Egyptian but a foreign--Zionist--plot being perpetrated by Israeli spies on the ground there. However, the millions of anti-Mubarak protesters ALL know better, AND resent the pro-Mubarak regime provocateurs attempt to subvert their grassroots Egyptian thawra. For Khamenei to agree with the pro-Ms is not going to work out well for Khamenei any more than for the pro-Ms. Paqid Yirmeyahu Paqid 16, The Netzarim, Ra'anana, Israel Israeli Torah-reverer & Orthodox Jew: Teimani, Baladi, Dor Dai Advocate for Logic as Hermeneutic Halakhic Authority Welcoming all who choose to keep Torah (When questions to me go unanswered, they have refused to post it. 33. INSPIRATION FROM IRAN
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (02.04.11)
Is there, without doubt. You may twist and turn to say otherwise. If successful,Insha Allah, what impact it has in the region, will turn Obama's hair turn grey in no time.
34. The Sad and Delusional Khamenei
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.04.11)
I guess he forgot the recent protests against his own government for the rigged elections they had recently too. There was an article in this paper about week ago, that spoke of the 64 hangings Iran had committed, in just the first month of this year. Among the rapist and murderers they hung 8 protesters. Hoping the world would not notice, and frankly, for most part is WAS ignored by the world. All anybody has to do is Google FreedomHouse.org and look at the world map of freedom of the press (it's color coded and you can zoom in anywhere in the world). Only ONE country in the Middle East is listed as Free, ISRAEL. All others are rated as NOT Free, with I believe only Two rated as Partly Free, I think Kuwait is one of those. Of course IRAN was NOT Free, as most know. So for these guys to lecture the world that fanatic Islam is waking up is nonsense, when their own people had to be put down with violence.
35. To: Tim at No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.11)
I suspect they have gone quiet because it is one thing to talk tough from a bunker and from 2,500 kilometers away ... maybe not so much when it is becoming increasingly apparent that the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel is going to be nullified, and Israel will take back Gaza and the Sinai and it won't be a careful operation seeking to minimize collateral damage as was the one in Lebanon in 2006 and Cast Lead in Gaza. Israel knows how to go to war. Iran barely managed to eke out an embarrassing draw in an eight-year debacle with a vastly inferior Iraq. Hamas, Hezbollah can only skirmish. Not a good idea to tweak a nuclear power in these uncertain days.
36. It's freedom revolution, not Islamic
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (02.04.11)
and you are next Khamenie
37. Islamic awakening
clifford s ballard ,   usa   (02.04.11)
Yea sure Dipper Head.
38. Khamenei is next: what is he babbling about?
EZ ,   US   (02.04.11)
Iran is now firmly in the crosshairs for opposition uprising and a massive aerial military campaign that will obliterate Iranian naval ports, nuke sites and all major army bases. The Iranian beast will be terminated and the people will turn to a free democracy and they will relish it. The Persians are smart people: the islamitization fanatics are uneducated, backwards people who hijacked Islam and turned it into a blood cult. This is the final chapter for aggressive Islam. Tomorrow, Islam will be a door to door sales pitch like every other religion seeking adherents but there won't be public hangings and stimulus anymore. The future came soon enough, now those who find themselves on the wrong side of the fence are still babbling away but with less "teeth" since the reality is: they're scared to death! And rightfully so. Their "end days" have arrived.
39. # 33 Mahmood
Hal ,   Usa   (02.04.11)
Imagin if you will Mahmood, the inspiration the oppostion in Iran is getting from the Egyptian people revolting against Mubarak. You will, I'm sure, continue to genuflect before your heros in the Islamic Phantasm of Iran's 32 year national nightmare, but you know very well that the Arabian forest fire is heading to Iran as we speak. The impact of that alone will turn your hair grey and your pizza pie franchise pipe dreams a disaster by any definition.
40. 31 - "I... cover these events better than journalists"

Ken ,   Australia   (02.04.11)
Right on brother, you got the signature on this totalitarian looney, this guy should be locked in a mental asylem with the lowest form of wackos known to mankind, he would most probably lead them also, in some crazy wacked out revolution which would lead all the wackos to there ultimate destiny - The ultimate insane asylem, kohmanis cure for the world, become completley insane, lifes greatest gift of all.
42. To: No. 33
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.11)
Actually, I believe the inspiration had very little to do with Iran and significantly more to do with rising unemployment, rampant inflation, grain and wheat shortages and poverty. You had it backwards, dear. The rising tide of unrest in the Islamic Republic of Iran will look to take inspiration from Egypt, and throw off the tyrannical yoke of the mullahs.
43. Iran: Riots sign of Islamic awakening
RC ,   USA   (02.04.11)
Coming straight from the horse’s mouth, but the West just does not get it. Already lost Lebanon, Iraq is now politically influenced by Iran, and Egypt is most probably next. I hope Israel starts getting ready for what is coming in the future. The lefty’s better open their eyes wide open, and see that these Islamists do not want peace; they have openly declared they want to eliminate Israel.
44. #33 Mahmood
Mohamed Al-Dafuk ,   IL   (02.04.11)
Question to you Mahmood: If you are so inspired by Iran, how comes you live in the UK? Why don't you join your brothers and sisters (which you can't see under the rugs they wear) and get inspired live?
45. #33 yes but that doesnt change the fact that all who follow
bah Barbarians ,   good luck   (02.04.11)
false gods are still like fish on a hook on a line. feel that sting in your jaw? good luck spitting that hook, ain't going to happen. Yeah you all may win the battle but you do lose the war in the end. so feel free little fish to boast and we will still laugh at your foolishness. Because this race has already been won and you didn't win anything, nada! DANNY
46. He's right...
p3orion ,   San Antonio TX USA   (02.04.11)
...which is why we should be very concerned about our President so fully embracing the rioters. They're shouting for democracy, but it's just an example of Taqqiya, the use of deception in the advancement of Islam. Once the mullahs are in charge, this little taste of freedom and democracy will be only a memory.
47. Persian cat - there is no aparthied in Israel
Daniela   (02.04.11)
you are welcome to our country and double check. Many Israeli Arabs would not go to live in a palestinian state, they would prefer to keep on living in Israel. you are so far from reality, I'm really sorry for you.
48. Give me a a braek, Mr. Khamenei,

Your dougnut making must also be suffering and I can understand your agony.Try hard as few of the Americans can still afford to eat.Yes, inspiration is very much there for your information. This message goes to Sarah as well because she plays the same tune as you do.The inspired people of Egypt will prove to you in the coming days.Be on board.
52. bravo Salma, well said
PAL-UK   (02.04.11)
NEXT FRIDAY PROTESTORS WILL BE TRATORES IN Khamenei EYES
53. Iran is 30 years ahead
IRAN#1   (02.04.11)
That's the only difference. Look at the progress Iran has made since the revolution. Of course everyone in the region wants to be independent like Iran. DO you think the Egyptians are happy to have USA or EU tell their President what he needs to do!?!? They want their dignity back and they will have it back and when that happens it is bad news for u-know-whos :)
54. Pres Mubarak
JMWinPR ,   Ceiba, Puerto Rico   (02.05.11)
If you listen very, very carefully they are not asking Pres Mubarak to step down, but Pres Obama. They want Ms Palin as POTUS.
55. To 50 iran #01
Maxime Love Israel ,   ISRAELOAMERICAN   (02.05.11)
The other way around mahbul. Iran is 30 years behind and That is why your brain is in your derriere. You truly are a master piece of art work done by your great Ahmadinejad.
56. # 51 Mahmood
Hal ,   Usa   (02.05.11)
Mahmood, your doughnut making slur is a bit bratty on your part. I prefer bagels. I'm sure you got that from your girlfriend Peter il Viennese. His illusion is that I am a fat, doughnut eating redneck Homer Simpson character. LMFAO. Since you understand my agony, let me inflict a little on you. Tell me Lord of Doom, where on Earth did you get the idea that few Americans can still afford to eat, old copies of Pravda, yes? Amazing. I thought at least the BBC would have proved to you how imune from reality you are. Now, getting back to your most recent obsessive word blather, inspiration. How obtuse can you be Mahmood? You have it ass backwards as usual. The "who" that is being inspired are the young people of Iran. That is why Khomeine is urinating down his dress. The whole world is witnessing the revolt of Middle Eastern youth. They absolutely do not want what the Iranian Islamic Nightmare has to offer. You live in a modern country that has full access to all manner of media, libraries and, well, educated people. How you come up with hairball after hairball of twisted political nonsense is alarming. Have you been checked for Munchaussens disease? I can't wait for your spin on the Egypt situation when your rather delusional opinion blows up in your face, which it will. BTW Mahmood, I wouldn't piss Sarah off, she might play a tune on your rather fragile psyche. Probably Ha Va Nagila, he!!
57. #53 - 30 years of success or 30% unemployment?
William ,   Israel   (02.05.11)
You Iranians have an odd way of measuring success. But then again, you called the Lebanon War a success, and Hizbullah lost a huge part of its arsenal, 15000 foreigners are stationed on Lebanon's south, the terrorists lost close to 1000 of their own "men", and Nasrallah still lives in a cave near the Syrian border. Iran as a whole does not have its dignity back. If it did, it would have a real open society and not one run by Holocaust deniers, homophobes, misogynists, and attack anyone who even utters a word of opposition. If Iran had dignity, Zoroastrians and B'hai wouldn't be on the chopping block, and Nasrallah wouldn't have dared to utter "There is no Persian culture, only an Arab one". I believe Egyptians know what dignity is...which is why the crowd almost tore several people apart when someone accused them of being spies for Hamas and Iran.
58. Persian cat - check story about Muslim women visiting Israel
William ,   Israel   (02.05.11)
Two separate delegations of Muslim women traveled to Israel in the past 2 years - one from the UK and one from Tunisia. Both groups went on record to say how different Israel was compared to what Muslims spread as rumors. They were shocked to see the open society, the working infrastructure, Muslims freely traveling and working along side Jews, and Jews not attacking them the minute they saw them. It looks like its time for you to make the trip and finally see reality for what it is, and stop holding on to lies which make you sleep better at night.
59. Answer to "Iran is 30 years ahead"!!!
Koorosh R ,   San Francisco   (02.05.11)
Yeah, righ! probably that was the reason for Iranian uprising a year and a half ago! Or perhaps, you are so blind that you didn't see it??!! So long criminals like your master Khamenie, people will bring them down one day.
60. Actually Iran is 3000 years backward
IRAN IS FINISHED   (02.05.11)
and will stay this way until the bitter end.
