It is no secret that the Department of Education in California at the State level have banned all MSUs for at least one year following this incident. There has been an ongoing investigation into the MSUs at all campuses especially at Irvine where in 2003, the graduating class instead of donning cap and gown decided to dress a la homicide bomber, some with real bomb belts. There has been a succession of chancellors at this particular university that came very close to losing it's charter. May that truly happen if this is to continue - a la bezerkely!

You should perhaps read up on public forums and limited public forums. The courts have clearly stated that time and place restrictions CAN be placed on speech. Can you actually argue that it is acceptable to disrupt an event because you disagree and not expect to be punished? If there had been a Q/A session and they had participated in THAT, they would have a much better defense. Protesting outside is protected, disrupting inside is NOT. They didn't have the right to disrupt the event, it is not protected speech. I'm curious, if they had been christians and did EXACTLY the same thing to an ambassador of Iran would you still think the were within their rights? If it mars their future, so be it, if you do the crime, DO THE TIME.
