1. Thank you Obama
Gary   (02.06.11)
for deliberately handing the entire middle east to the Islamo-Nazis Obama=Satan
2. What was lost?!
Bannister ,   US   (02.06.11)
The whole uprisings have no islamic image and even the islamic groups within tunisia and egypt have declared that they are not seeking to turn their states into another islamic republic.
3. where is the new Mideast going?
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.06.11)
to a stable democracy. this is out big dream. totalitarianism is not the solution for Mideast Political and economic problems, the Mideast People are tired of repression and militarism, they are eager to breathe the air of democracy. Roy Nahmias, your analysis is choking me : (
4. hey retard no. 2 you actually beleive this?
(02.06.11)
dude you have been forced to drink of the kool-aid once too manytimes if you really beleive this crap you are writing about
5. Define: "pro-American camp". define: "America-2011"
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.06.11)
6. Keep dreaming, Salma. You're too few to do it.
Brian Judean Peoples ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.06.11)
Salma, the sad truth is that not enough Arabs are interested in true democracy. You have no home-grown revolutionary leaders who are inspiring you to speak up and fight for your rights. The Palestinians, especially, are a good example. Despite being on the verge of statehood for 2 decades, you can't get it together enough to make those tough choices to become the first true Arab democracy. Your millions of descendants of Palestinian refugees are not going "home". You can't accept that yet. Your demand that we recognize "Palestine" as the homeland for the "Palestinian people" is not being matched by acceptance of Israel as the homeland for the Jewish people. Repression and militarism are alive and well in the west bank, and absolutely thriving under Hamas army boots in Gaza. You Palestinians are 2 years overdue for democratic elections, yet you can't go there. It's not good enough to dream, Salma. You have to work for it too.
7. ME in Evolution....
Freha Barbladi ,   Gibraltar   (02.06.11)
The title to his Article (analysis?) Mr Nahmias is ahead of his subject. The situation in this very strategic part of the world raises some troubling concerns in the chancelleries of wanneebe superpowers: Brazil, India, Europe, and finally USA and the most important potential beneficiary: CHINA. One has to look back for an historical prespectives: the french revolution, which was driven and abbeted by the France's changing DEMOGRAPHY. The tools to analyse the current chaos of the ME are still the same as it was then, and one can conclude various similiraties and expectations that are as neutral as ever. Sure, we shouldn't put all the Arab States in the same bag, but there is un fil conducive that all of them share: Highly educated people in a very great numbers willing to take a chance changing their future at HOME, as in the West, which was always a safety valve for such an uprising, the economy is not in a position to accomodate the demands of the Tunisians, Egyptians and.....in the Western place of work.
8. #2 The Iranian revolution was not Islamic either
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (02.06.11)
At its beginning. The Islamic organizations are not stupid. They won't raise their profile right now. They let the masses do the riots and topple the government for them, with all their chants about freedoms, equality and human rights. And then when a leadership vacuum is formed, they easily slide in. Wake up from your naivete, Bannister...
9. How naive you are #2
David M.   (02.06.11)
It would be better if Roy Nahmias were wrong. I am sure he would agree to be wrong as well. What Muslim Brotherhood claims while attempting to cease power has nothing to do with their real aims. The fact that Iran and even our dear Salma #3 cheer the changes is the best proof that they are not good for Israel. Islamic, fundamentalist governments are a disaster for Arabs as well that will make their societies to fall behind even more.
10. #2
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.06.11)
The revolutions are based on real problems, but that is not the point. I will give you the short version. Someone will have to pick up the pieces after the current leaders go. They will need money and logistical support. No one will ask the Americans for help, because they will be accused of being puppets and they know that Obama will stab them in the back. That leaves only two sources for support: Russia and Iran. Russia will give them a new dictatorship. Iran will give their life meaning in Islam and Jihad. As I've written before: Obama the Jew-hating racist played checkers. Ahmadinejad played chess. Guess who won?
11. The US lost the Initiative by the Idleness of Obama.
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.06.11)
By Obamas Diplomatic Usefull Idiocy, instead of striking Iran Militarily, as all Moderate arab Leaders Wanted, The US has by The Chamberlaining Jerk Obama, lost all Influense in the Middle East. By the US idleness, the Powervacum Created, has been filled by Radical Islam and its initiative thus - http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4023909,00.html And its Result - http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4024153,00.html Life is a constant flow, but the Policy of Obama and his Government , Pushed it in another weong direction, and the Radicals took advantage of this Usefull Idiocy. Now the US will reap its Fruit of Her Foolishness. This is how the US lost the Mideast, and now it is to late to reverse the outcome. The only Good thing the US could Possibly do now, is to strike Iran Militarily, but even that will not make her regain the trust of the Moderate Muslims. However - this above could also be Blamed on Israel an Her Leadership, sitting idle and not striking iran in time. That the US would loose all the Middle east, has been seen by any sober mind for several years now. So Israel - Action is Required, or Action will be taken against You. GOD Bevere. Orao.Srbia.
12. #6 higgledy piggledy !
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.06.11)
Brian, who killed democracy in Palestine ?! The Palestinian struggle for democracy has been long and painstaking, we have given many sacrifices For freedom and democracy.....In 2006,we hold parliamentary elections , Although these elections were praised by the world , the results were never accepted by "Israel "or most Western governments because they did not like the outcome!!!!!! Even when Palestinians managed to create a national unity government we were kept under siege and embargo, In fact it is not Hamas or Fatah, the problem is that you don't really want a viable, prosperous Palestinian state on "your borders", you always find every Palestinian group unacceptable ! P.S: I'll keep on dreaming until my dreams come true .
13. #2, oh so it must be true then
Danny   (02.06.11)
because Islamic parties never ever lie. I remember the leaders of Iran making it clear they intended to make an Islamic dictatorship. I also remember the AK party stating they would arrest anyone who speaks against them under a vague conspiracy charge. Hizbollah made it clear that they would kill Rafik Hariri and others if ordered to do so by Syrian-Iranian commanders.
14. Status quo is over
berlonski ,   berlin   (02.06.11)
What a dangerous thinking! The status quo in Arab dictatorships is crumbling in front of our eyes and Roee Nahmias is putting all hope - on the status quo. I think especially Israel needs a better and more creative approach than this running after what soon will be ghosts of the past. Face reality!
15. Middle-East
mark ,   US   (02.06.11)
First of all the middle east doesn't belong to USA or Europe. second, the people of the middle east will determine their destiny based on their aspirations and dreams not what works for the western world.
16. lets plan taking back Sinai
think tank ,   dont need 2 bgenious   (02.06.11)
If moderates in the muslem world are seen as pro american and are a minority, and the non moderates are the majority, there is nobody to make piece with. We should stop kidding ourselves and trying to make piece with the Palestinians, knowing that moderates are not moderates, and even if they are, the people behind are not, let's stop this disturbing attitude of separating between the people in Gaza and the west bank. Hamas has already demonstrated my point.
17. and if the radical islamist terrorists
Barney ,   USA   (02.06.11)
take egypt then US aid will stop. Tourism will stop. The population will suffer a loss of even more freedom. Will live in poverty. Will blame Israel for their problems because they aren't smart enough to establish a true free democracy. Given the chance to vote they vote for their own misery. They would rather hate and suffer. Sad
18. Obama the islamist behind closed doors
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (02.06.11)
is another Carter. Obama wants to see the end of the Jewish state and i wouldn't be surprised if these riots were paid for by the US admin. The only good thing here for Israel is that she will be more justified to fight her corner all the more deadlier. We are with you Israel til the bitter end.
19. We need democracy and justice even
Yossef   (02.06.11)
in arab lands. This will be good also for the jews :-)
20. Nr 11. - Further -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.06.11)
-A SUSPICION - ? http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4023909,00.html Comment - Could something of all this, or all of it, be Instigated By Iran as a Tacktic to avert attention to Herself and her Nuclear Pursuit ? Surely this Idleness of Bouth the West and Israel, has given Iran Years to prepere for a confrontation, and Develop a proper bouth Strategy and Tactic for it. Sitting Ducks are Easy targets. Iran has Outsmarted bouth the West and Israel as it where. Orao.Srbia,
21. Why Obama? 78% of US Jews voted for him
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (02.06.11)
Why are so many people who are unable face the truth: Obama is the brainchild of the Jewish Money (Soros), N.Y.Times, and the Marxist Jewish elite in the US. Obama, a simple street agitator presidency is the result of the 78%- Jewish support then and even now. Jstreet-Jews, N.Y. Times etc. not enough proof? Now is the time to look into ourselves and stop blaming somebody else....whom do you want to fool?
22. Democracy fo All?? Of course, unless...
Vitor ,   Lisbon, Portugal   (02.06.11)
1) takes away our tittle (quite handy indeed) as the only democracy in the Middle East. 2) topples a dictator, that treats its own population as we wouldn't like to be treated ourselves, just because he's good for our interests. What a bunch of hypocrits!! The mask always falls when it needs to.
23. Western gov'ts and media bias have been exposed once again
Marcella   (02.06.11)
Two current reports: - IRAN - government has hanged 66 persons since the end of 2010. USA government and media are silent. - EGYPT - Two Christian Coptic families massacred during the uprising - a continuation of Muslim persecution of Christians and other minorities in the country. (See Israel National News.) USA government and media are silent. Western governments and mainstream media have been almost oblivious to the greater brutality of Iran, a country that has been allowed by the US administration to carry on with their nuclear build up and murderous dictatorship with only mild criticism. The US declined to get involved when people massed in the tens of thousands asking for greater freedom and for support from the West. And Western governments and media are also oblivious to the brutality of the Egyptian masses they claim are ready for "democratic rule". HOW are they ready, when they can't even respect the right to life of religious minorities, or the right to life and safety of their daughters and wives? This is the moment when our governments and media should be thoroughly exposed for their bias and the terrible upheaval they have helped to unleash in the Middle East. This exposure should include their bias against democratic Israel and in favor of creating a country for Palestinians, who can't govern themselves without force and corruption, whose factions can't get along without oppressing or killing each other, and whose family values have a great need to evolve to a more humanitarian standard. I would like to see columnists REMEMBER PRIMARILY ISRAEL in their analyses, because what is toppling the less brutal regimes in the Middle East while propping up the Ayatolahs and the Muslim Brotherhood, is the same force that wants to DISMANTLE ISRAEL, one worthless "Peace" at the time, to install a Hamastan in its place. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PS: US government hypocrisy is even more blatant when you go to the State Department International Terror List and see the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade included there. At the very same time the US is financing, training and arming that same Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade to become part of the "Special Forces" in the state of Palestine they are helping to create out of Jewish land. If we are to judge by their acts rather than their words, the USA is building up the Islamists in the Middle East, and turning its back on those with secular and democratic values.
24. what do you expect?
daniel   (02.06.11)
it was gonna happen sooner or later, it was just a matter of time. nothing was lost, per se, as there was nothing to be won in the first place. you can't control people's minds, and that is obviously what the west is attempting to do. too bad.
25. #3
T.I ,   Israel   (02.06.11)
I wish it was true, MB might disappoint you.
26. 23 - Hasbara bulls..t sales agent ,...
split ,   US   (02.06.11)
Christian Palestinians do suffer for decades just like their Muslim bros. under Israeli occupation. Christian pilgrims are assaulted and spit on every day in Jerusalem. Bibles are burned by fanatical Jews in Israel at noon on public squares but your job here is to point your hasbara finger at others, the Muslims, right ?,.. Under how many nicks do you hide and spew your hasbara venom on ynet forum ? ,...
27. Salma #12 can't kill what never was
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.06.11)
First off there never a Palestine to kill. Second there has never been any Arab democracy to kill either. You may not like the fact that we can act as a sovereign nation and when you elect racist people who state their goal is our genocide we refuse to have anything to do with them. What a fucking surprise you stupid bitch. Keep it up and you will get an Israeli government that says to hell with the rest of the world and starts treating you are the racist apartheid murderers that you are.
28. Yes this is the beginning of the end of Pax Americana
IRAN#1   (02.06.11)
Most media pundits have mistakenly compared the events in Tunisia, Egypt, etc... to Iran's revolution. The right comparison should be to the events in Eastern Europe following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The USSR satellites went down the garbage bin of history and as we see with the end of the US/Zionist ponzi scheme in the Middle East their puppets bite the dust one after the other.
29. Jews Put Obama In The White House
Dan ,   USA   (02.06.11)
The money that thrust Obama into the presidency came from Jews. Penny Pritzker of Chicago, elitest far left wing, but Israel hating, Jews, Jewish socialist and communist college professors, famous Hollywood Jews and Soros and his billions. And do you know what? They will spend just as much, if not more, to keep him in , in 2012. That way they will ahve until 2016 to make the U.S. a socialist country and do away with Israel.
30. #29.Dan: The proof is out there
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (02.07.11)
"Israel is the problem". - so he said. Soros has written an article in the Washington Post Feb. 3. 2011. in which he is openly rooting for the destruction of Israel. The war on Israel by the Communist Jews are now in the open, no more attempt is made to hide it. And the Washington Post is a prominent Jewish run radical leftist paper. Unfortunately my experience is that posts containing informative URL-s are implacably deleted. Antisemitic links are not though.....
