1. He is 100% correct..Israel is in for some major war
Al   (02.07.11)
I suggest that the Knesset stop pissing on each others head and start working towards preparing the country for major all out war. The signs are there...Can anyone remember 67? I can and I warn you the sounds I hear today are the same.
2. well i supppose it is inevetible
(02.07.11)
sooner or later...tell us something we dont already know...the gathering storm. freedom is not free
3. Another chance for Israel to show it's prowess in battle.
Dewey, Cheatum ,   and Howe.   (02.07.11)
4. #3 Sadly, yes.
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.07.11)
Sadly, yes. The true Arab feelings are shown in the Arab street's response to the revelation of concessions by the PA leadership in discussions with Israel. Another reason why Israel should not trust in "land for paper documents".
5. No. Really?
Schreiber   (02.07.11)
Well, who could have imagined it. In the Middle East, of all places. No. I'd rather stay in denial. Let's bring more pro-Two States statements by the political leadership, more pro-Land for Peace columists. Israel hasn't renounced to enough land yet! The Sinai and Gaza were only the downpayment for peace. More will have to be surrendered! Yes! Let's give away the Golan, Judea and Samaria. Yes! Let's spend more money building up infrastructure in the PA! Yes! And let's have more demonstrations against Jewish racism and in favor of embracing every single African who infiltrates into the country! At this rate, folks, some day you won't have to worry about war because there won't be an Israel anymore. It will be another chaotic Judenrein region with Muslims killing each other, with a million Africans armed with guns and machetes defending their own fiefdoms in what used to be Tel Aviv, Eilat and other cities. Back in your new homes of refuge abroad your grandkids will ask you how did you allow this to happen? And you'll tell them that it was done with the best of intentions: kindness to strangers, compassion for the Palestinians, fear of disapproval by the USA and Europe. And your grandkids will ask you, do they like us now that we don't have a country anymore? And you'll have to admit that they dislike you more than ever, because it was not about the Palestinians, but about the fact that Jews exist at all.
6. Government priorities
Schreiber   (02.07.11)
Just as I took a peek at Ynet, I spotted a Breaking News Update reporting that there is a warrant for the arrest of elderly rabbi Dov Lior. Right next to it is the headline with Ashkenazi warning of an all-out war against Israel. That's Israel's fatal insanity. The leadership can't tell friend from foe, and when they do, they turn against their own while protecting their enemies. They accuse the rabbi of incitement, while they allow the PA to spew all kinds of murderous propaganda. Crazy? You bet! And this kind of insanity is fatal, that is, it only ends with the demise of the patient.
7. and if the coward Barak is defence minister
chaim.s ,   brooklyn ny   (02.07.11)
Israel will be defeated, get rid of that pathetic leftist coward before it's too late
8. Pork and unclean foods should be banned from Israel.
Rivkah   (02.07.11)
That will help to protect the people. Stop flaunting sodomy, stop robbing the poor, and stop sinning. YHWH's favor is the best protection for a nation and for that the people must obey His commandments.
9. It's all written in Prophets...end of days
Laura ,   Jerusalem ISRAEL   (02.07.11)
Just remember, the G*D of Israel never sleeps. Just when it could all look black, Hashem will be revealed and the people and the land of Israel will finally be a nation unto G*D and a light among the nations.
10. Ashkenazi is right
Brod ,   USA   (02.07.11)
Ashkenazi is right to give this warning to the nation. The dark forces are fanatical and caliphatic. Israel must be ready for an all out war.
11. Are the leaders as high in quality as the youth?
Bodkin   (02.07.11)
Ashkenazi praises the "incredibly high-quality youths" who will fight for Israel. But are the ones who will lead them into battle of the same quality? Will future military operations resemble 1967, or 2006? Sharon marched toward Cairo in 1973. Halutz was distracted by his stock portfolio during the attack on Lebanon. Will the IDF be led by a Halutz or a Sharon?
12. Brod - Wacho - wants no peace but wars
Pedro   (02.07.11)
too much old book or bible has no legal binding
13. war
howard ,   torquayuk   (02.07.11)
israel will need every man it can muster, when it finaly happens ,start regonising the half jews because you are going to need them
14. Can Israeli leaders learn the secret of victory?
Jouko ,   Kuopio, Finland   (02.07.11)
Bible teaches clearly f.ex. in the Book of Judges that Israels relationship to GOD was much more important than military superiority. But it is not so easy to learn from the Bible - we repeat the same mistakes again and again.
15. you have jewish autonomous oblast
me ,   my country   (02.07.11)
16. Happy to help arm your troops
Cameron ,   USA   (02.07.11)
Those American jets sounding better & better, eh?
17. To #8 I agree 1000 %
Patrick ,   Paris France   (02.07.11)
We have two best protections: First and unbeatable one is G protection :-))) Second, our beloved army. Do not smile, if you think differently you are just not rational.
18. is he saying the IDF is unable to fight conventional wars?
zionist forever   (02.07.11)
" Because of the new spectrum we must prepare for a conventional war... it would be a mistake to prepare for non conventional war or limited conflicts and then expect that overnight forces will operate in an all out war " If the IDF is currently not prepared to fight full scale wars then Ashkenazi has obviously not been doing a very good job as chief of staff. The IDF is not a counter terror force it is an army and that army must be able to face any conflict be it terror or conventional war without having to specially prepare for it. If the IDF is unprepared for conventional war the Ashkenazi needs to be criticized for that.
19. 7
zionist forever   (02.08.11)
I am no fan of Barak but whilst he has made some wrong decisions as minister of defense he has done some things right. He agreed to restart the Merkava program which Amir Peretz ordered be killed and ordered more Merkava 4. He gave the for the development of the Namer APC to replace the old T 55 & Centurion tank conversions. He also negotiated a hell of a deal for the F35. We are allowed to add an extra suite of Israeli systems rather than off the shelf. Also 20% of the wings for global F35 sales will be made in Israel. Whatever you think of the F35 Barak negotiated a good deal on that one when under Bush all we were being offered was an off the shelf plane which every other buyer except the US is getting. So I think Barak deserves some credit although as a PM he was awful and he hasn't been the greatest defense minister but he has done plenty of good things which he does deserve credit for. We also can't get rid of him because he is keeping the coalition stable and his quitting Labor gave the government the potential to survive another 2 years
20. 17 Patrick, Paris, France: Amen. Praise the Lord and pass
Rivkah   (02.08.11)
the ammunition.
21. RADICALISATION of the MIDEAST !.
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.08.11)
The Shia-Islamic Al-Mahdi vill first Conquer and Overtake Irak in a civil war. Then he will Overtake Saudi-Arabia in a Coup. Afterwards Egypt with the help of Ethiopia and Libya. GOD bevere. Orao.Srbia.
22. Why isn't the defense budget increased?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.08.11)
Israel needs to order more fighter aircraft, build more tanks, order more ammo, buy more anti tank missile systems as well as more Iron Dome batteries and interceptors. More artillery batteries and anti air craft batteries.More training and increase the amount of draftees. Prison or the I.D.F.! The money sitting in government bank accounts will not help in a war. Also we need to save money by eliminating the child allowances of draft dodgers. Use the money for defense.
23. Rivah, how then do you explain the pork BBQs in 1966?
mea   (02.08.11)
Stop your stupid proslytizing. All you do is offend, like all Christians who cannot absorb that it is offensive to have someone else shove at you. What you Christians do not fathom is that none of us are interested in your play book or your fantasy characters. I've seen Christians davening at the wall embarrassing themselves, refusing bread at Pesach as if it made any difference. And it makes no difference to Jews if your Jesus supposedly "likes" anything or not. He is not the messiah, period.See this is because your religion is just that., YOURS. As I told a wingnut here, what if I told you that Jesus Christ is Satan. She was very upset when I insisted Christ is Satan. I waited several days and watxhed her totally freak out, call her church get counseling call off our friendship, etc, THEN I told her she finally seemed to have a taste of the offense you Chrisitans cause in other people when you proslylize, offend, insult OUR faith, and then congratulate yourselves for "convicting in the spirit", when in fact you have deeply offended us and not respected OUR beliefs. Get it? Probably not. I suspect your name is actually some Chrisitan name like Roberta and like so many wannabes you changed it to something sounding Jewish. As for your pork theory, dear, I know people on a moshav who had a pork BBQ every Yom Kippur and it appears using your theory that Israel was able to decisively WIN wars afterwards, so although I never eat it myself, I would have to say your idea is not worth a hill of beans when it comes to tracking outcomes.
24. War again
Ali Gabor ,   Zagreb   (02.08.11)
In the end only the jews will live on planet earth....must be very boring then!
25. Perhaps not such a bad thing
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.11)
Apart from the fact that wars kill and maim and destroy the flower of our youth, Israel does not have problems with winning wars. It's the peace we seem to be intent on losing .... That said, perhaps an unconventional war is the way to go. Descend to the miklat, Inflict some well-placed damage and then wait for the cloud to dissipate. The Arab and Islamofascist world seem intent on heading straight back to the seventh century. Let's help them. It's the least we can do. A pox on BOTH their houses.
26. To: Cameron at No. 16
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.11)
The price was just too high, dear. Obama is not going to build an ersatz "Palestinian" state at our expense. And we will continue to grow our settlements in Judea and Samaria, and build in Jerusalem. If we have to, we will resurrect the Lavie and put everything in the U.S. aircraft arsenal to shame. We can, you know.
27. To: Howard at No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.11)
Israel is a nuclear power, dear. Don't think we cannot or would not.
28. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.11)
What is so freakishly wrong with your "religion" that you keep trying to tell us all about ours?
29. All-out war might mean the destruction of Mecca
Bodkin   (02.08.11)
In the event of a truly massive all-out war in the Middle East, especially if Israel is pushed to the brink of extinction, there will be a huge spike in Islamic radicalism around the world, as they sense their moment of conquest has arrived. This in turn will trigger an attempt to crush the spiritual source of the Islamic radicalism that plagues the world. And that source is Mecca. Just a prediction.
30. Israel prepare for civil war
Avi ,   Israel   (02.08.11)
growing radicalization i guess he is refering to the power of the riaght wing religious camp ? The time will come when we are no longer prepared to accept the likes of Eli Yisahi and his corrupt bunch of thieves, imposing their so called life style on secular people , the time will come when secular jew will fight religious jew and i for one will be first in line to sign up.
