deborah ,   Berkeley, USA   (02.12.11)
I am having so much fun reading these kind of hostile comments. God is looking down on me today, that's for sure.
7. Why exactly are Israeli Arabs celebrating this?
William ,   Israel   (02.12.11)
I'd like to hear from Israeli Arabs themselves, maybe even Rami from Nazareth. I don't understand why Israeli Arabs are celebrating like this. Are they happy that an aristocrat in the Arab world has fallen? They weren't so happy when Saddam fell from power. Are they happy at the idea that Arabs themselves found a backbone and exercised their rights by turning on their leaders? I guess they're in a good position to celebrate the Egyptians coming from the only democracy in the Middle East. Why wouldn't they be happy that Egyptians would get the same rights and freedoms Israeli Arabs already enjoy. Or maybe they're celebrating the fall of a peaceful neighbor of Israel with hopes of an end to the Peace Treaty, and war against Israel? I didn't see any "Palestinian" flags there so I doubt they would wish their future to be like Gaza under Hamas. Or maybe they simply celebrate the fall of a dictator-like govt.....well, so did Hamas, Hizbullah, and Iran....and they are extremely brutal compared to Egypt's rulers. So, for the life of me, I can't understand why they celebrate.
8. One shouldn't wonder at the outbirst of joy in Taybeh -

Israeli arabs welcome all, which potentially might harm to Israel
10. Of particular interest and importance is the fact that...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.12.11)
since the Muslim-Arab world is a single cultural-religious-political bloc, thus when a major event in one part of it, this time in Egypt, affects the thinking and action in other parts of this huge bloc. This apply to both the regimes in this Muslim-Arab bloc as well as to those eager to bring about various changes to it, be the changes democratic in orientation or Islamist ones. This phenomenon must be kept in mind when dealing with the Muslim-Arab world!
11. Tast of Democracy for Israel?
Palestinian   (02.12.11)
Palestinians are ecstatic to have another democracy beside .. Israel
12. In Reading the Talkbacks, I am Quite Surprised How
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (02.12.11)
threatened and jealous the Israeli Jews are that their fellow-countrymen, the Israeli Arabs are happy for the overthrow of a brutal dictator of 80 million of their cousins. It is also surprising how many Israeli Jews seem to want Egyptian democracy to fail.
13. Their descendants probably came from Egypt
Eitan ,   Chicago   (02.12.11)
...to dodge the draft under Ibrahim Pasha, or as freed slaves, to work on swampland reclamation or building the railroad. Anyone with the family name Masri most likely came to areas like Jaffa, Acre, Samaria, and Judea during the 1830s and 1840s. Someone should remind them that their ancestors fled Egypt for a reason.
14. #11 Israel bans racist parties
Logic ,   Israel   (02.12.11)
Egypt should also ban racist parties from running in elections. This is the only way for things to go well.
15. #12 - If that IS their reason for celebrating
William ,   Israel   (02.12.11)
Who knows right now, which is why I posed several questions in my #7 post directed towards Israeli Arabs. Israeli Arabs didn't celebrate when Saddam was removed from power, paving the way for a future democracy. Infact, they were angry, they wept...and Saddam has the blood of millions on his hands. In actuality, since we live here and you do not, we all want a real democracy in Egypt but not an Arab bastard one which Hamas brought to Gaza and has taken the role again of "dictator" over 1.5 million people.
16. Hello freedom, hello cahos.
Eran ,   Singapore   (02.12.11)
17. Hello freedom, hello starvation, hello ignorance
Eran ,   Singapore   (02.12.11)
18. #11 Interesting to note
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.12.11)
That the Arabs claim they will have a Democracy, a novelty in the Arab world Up to this point, it looks like Egypt will continue to be ruled by the Military, who will be most reluctant to lose their hold on the country Come the elections, whenever that is, be certain that at the top of the list will be a Military Man, with the full backing and force of the military behind him Any other candidates will be there for window dressing only !!
19. #12 Doug - it might interest u to know
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.12.11)
that these were the very same Israeli Arabs that stood on the rooftops cheering while Saddam Hussein was showering Israel with Scuds These are the very same Israeli Arabs who have the sole desire to expell all the Jews and steal the land for themselves Democracy in Eqypt, don't make me laugh, if you look at ALL the Arab countries, you can't find a single Democracy in the lot, Egypt won't be the exception The Military will continue to rule, as it has for the past 60 years, since Farouk was chucked out
20. Egypt
Moragh   (02.12.11)

Yes, more people have been killed in the name of your Lord, refering to him as "The Prince of Peace" is laughable
