3. Camp David Accords
Cotler ,   Canada   (02.13.11)
under the terms of the 1978 Camp David Accords Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin agreed to obey UNSC Resolution 242. Regrettably, Israel reneged on its commitment. "In that agreement, Begin, on behalf of the Israeli people, agreed to comply completely with United Nations Resolution 242. He agreed to the full withdrawal of all political and military Israeli forces from the West Bank and Gaza. This was presented to the Knesset and the members of the Knesset voted 85% to approve the Accords. Since then the situation has deteriorated."
4. Oooopss!
SyrianFreedomEagle   (02.13.11)
Now, this looks like big trouble! How come that israyeils thought that only the Muslim B. is against this "peace" treaty... So the liberals in Egypt are also against it... Could it be that the majority of Egyptians are against this "peace" treaty? Could it be that the majority of all Arabs are against this "peace" treaty? Ooopss... Could it be that only a minority of Arabs are for this peace treaty? Could it be that only Arab dictators are for this peace treaty because they need the approval of Washington to continue their mass crimes against their own citizens? This is really a big OOOPPPSSS! Imagine netanyahoodi running around, saying "Please make sure that Muslim Brotherhood and the Liberals do not succeed in the elections" and "Please bomb Iran because we are afraid of the bomb".... So this is a multiple OOPPPPSSS

UN Res 242 does not require Israel to withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza: (i) Withdrawal of Israel armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict; (ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force. It never said to withdraw to ALL the territories and only when all the resulotuion has been adhered to by all parties in a treaty which the Palestinians have refused to do. Also there is this: In a statement to the General Assembly on 15 October 1968, the PLO rejected Resolution 242, saying "the implementation of said resolution will lead to the loss of every hope for the establishment of peace and security in Palestine and the Middle East region."
8. I TOLD YOU SO

I could have told you all 30 years ago but no bastard wanted to listen.
9. For those who are dreaming about getting back the Sinai
Anthony Davis (LA)   (02.13.11)
It is kind of funny to observe how Israelis are blended by their military might. To be honest, your performance up until does not justify your over-self-esteem... Remember, in 73 Egypt kicked your ass. Remember, in 06, you could not succeed in eliminating a bunch of fighters with light weapons... Without our ongoing military support to your tiny nation, you will be eaten up within hours... I hope that you don't make stupid decisions because our support is not unbounded. Take care!
10. egypt
avner ,   buenos aires, arg   (02.13.11)
ill be glad to enlist in the idf, and fight against egypt. im sure many jews around the world feel the same as me. we want peace, but dont provoke us!!!
11. give us back the gas & oil fields
zionst forever   (02.13.11)
Israeli companies developed many of the gas & oil fields that Egyptians are profiting from today. Give us back whats ours then we can talk about changes to the treaty. Lets also include Yamit settlement, thousands of jews were made into refugees for that treaty and they want a right of return to their homes.
12. No basis for changing Peace Accord
William ,   Israel   (02.13.11)
The idea of a peace accord is to mold future generations into those accepting peace and erasing animosity of past generations. The Egyptians had since 1979 to prepare their people for peace and for acceptance of Israel as its neighbor. They did neither. Infact, it was the regime (and the Muslim Brotherhood) who have used Israel as their enemy for every ailment under the sun. Until the Egyptians are trained to be people of self-responsibility and peace, there is no basis for revising the peace accord. Under current conditions, tampering with the Accords could very well lead to war, which hurts everyone.
13. #4 - you didn't read the article - Ooops!
William ,   Israel   (02.13.11)
I assume its because you're a product of the Syrian Arab education system. But I digress. This party member simply said they wanted it to be revised but not cancelled. Where as, the Muslim Brotherhood wants the peace accord cancelled, and belligerent actions against Israel in the immediate future in order to aid Hamas in erasing the Jewish State. Big difference. But the army is in charge now, so that ends that.
14. Bye bye Kadima
Rachel ,   US   (02.13.11)
If the Egyptians are questioning whether to uphold Camp David, they're guaranteeing Bibi's re election.
15. #1 - Revise Camp David and Israel gets the Suez Canal
Scott ,   USA   (02.13.11)
16. #9 Anthony - Egypt lost the 73 war, dummy.
Scott ,   USA   (02.13.11)
All the Great Crossing proved that a quarter of a million Egyptian assault troops can beat 900 Israel reservists when taken by surprise. Within two weeks, Israeli tanks were 101 km from Cairo and with nothing between them and Tahrir Square. And Egypt ran crying to the United Nations. And if the Hezbutts won in '06, how many attacks have they tried since the war? Duh...
17. #3 - in addition to response #7
William ,   Israel   (02.13.11)
The authors of UNR242 publicly stated many times that their intention and the wording used in the resolution DID NOT specify returning to pre-1967 borders. It was the Arabs who twisted the meaning of UNR242 by using a French translation (not the original language). The authors made it a point to mention - again and again - that the purpose of said resolution was to ensure secure borders that would end all future aggressions. They stated that pre-1967 borders were not secure enough to keep future peace and therefore not required in the resolution. By the way, it also called for the end of Arab aggression but we see that didn't happen either, did it?

IZL   (02.14.11)
You are right, Egyptian soldiers did so well in 73, they went all the way to Haifa!!! Hezbollah did soooo well, they went all the way to Eilat in 2006!!!
19. #9 - "Egypt kicked your ass in 1973"
William ,   Israel   (02.14.11)
Really? Its pretty much accepted globally that Israel won that war and took out a great deal of Egyptian military at that point. Infact, it was 1973 which fully destroyed Egypt's military and they almost lost Cairo. Sure, its easy to beat Jews when the majority of them are fasting, sleeping, praying, and physically weak. If that is a success to you (and it certainly is to Egyptians) then imagine what happens when we're well-rested and fed, like during the 6-day war. Lebanon 2006 - "couldn't succeed against fighters with light weapons" - mid-range rockets are light weapons? Anti-tank and personnel weapons are "light weapons"? IEDs are light weapons? These aren't Bedouin on camalback with AK-47s. Hizbullah used heavy weapons and guerilla tactics that put all Lebanese civilians at risk...something that tied Israel's hands during that war. And according to Hizbullah - if just Nasrallah remained alive in Syria from the war, it still would be considered a victory for Hizbullah. Yet, they lost 1000 men, all of their rockets and several bunkers, got pushed north of the Litani, have 15000 foreigners on Lebanese soil, and resulted in Nasrallah apologizing in public to the entire nation for his unilateral (illegal) war which cost billions in damage and economic reversal. Take your aid and shove it where your head resides. The US didn't provide significant aid until after 1979 and we did just fine in kicking ass until that point. Israel is one of the top 5 military industries in the world, and the US seeks Israeli help often on projects. Plus US ties Israeli hands to limit development, production, and sales of our own military equipment which competes with your's. Go send your military aid to Egypt. They appreciate it so much they verbally thank you by cursing the US often. Idiot.
20. If Egypt break commitment US will justify Israeli attack.
Martin ,   Cooper   (02.14.11)
US support for Israel is unlimited at least as long as people like myself pays taxes!!!
21. mr noor is liberal but
fad egypt   (02.14.11)
he is like any other leader of the so called liberal parties elwafd, eltagammoa , elnazzery , the nationalist arab parties all of these parties their leaders are the puppets of the muslim brotherhood there is a strong relationship between these parties and the MB in 2005 mr noor came in the second place in election after mubarak most of his votes came from the MB camp also the baradaee is a friend of the MB because although these people are traditional or non religious they are appeasing the MB to strength their positions because the MB is the strongest and most organized opposition parties
22. reversing camp david
fad egypt   (02.14.11)
is violation of the international law egypt has been violating the agreement since 1979: 1- no normalization whether political,or economical normalization yes egypt signed the quiz agreement and exported the natural gas but that was considered as a crime by the people why? 2-because there is incitement against israel on a daily basis in the media and in the institutions so the result is that 80 percent of the people are hating israel 3- smuggling of weapons from sinai to gaza israel should stop the policy of appeasement and the policy of the so called land for peace the hills in judea and samaria and the jordan valley are of much importance than a peace agreement when it comes to security and peace of israel
23. the end of land for peace
dani   (02.14.11)
congratulations obama and all appeasers. you have proven correct the thesis of ya'alon and benny begin. no israeli will vote for dreamers in labor, and kadima's position cannot be justified either. israel will lurch further rightward in the next election, and bibi can begin to plan for his next term.
24. No. 9
Boris Yasdnilkov ,   Fernandina Beach, US   (02.14.11)
No. 9, note only do you have a distorted and incorrect view of history, you do not speak for many Americans. In fact, if your comments were not so ignorant they would be laughable.
25. No 20.
Boris Yasdnilkov ,   Fernandina Beach US   (02.14.11)
I'm with you!
26. Didn't take long
citizen   (02.14.11)
for a 'political figure' to come out against the treaty -- well, we'll see. Meantime, Egyptian parliament has been dissolved, the army has taken over (and the picture tonight from the square are not pretty) and, at the rate things are moving, the poor may soon not even be able to live on $2 a day. So go ahead Nour, tell us how exactly the treaty is not serving Egyptian interests.
27. Yes, please revise it
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (02.14.11)
Take your Gaza back. It's your land. The same should happen with Jordan. Take West bank back and get the whole trouble over with.
28. Oooooops?!? TO SYRIAN FREEDOM EAGLE
Koorosh Rahimi ,   Tehran, Iran   (02.14.11)
In your dream! For now, you and your poor, illiterate and dysfunctional government in Damascus are beggars expecting a hand-out from the Iranian government., which means from our resources in Iran. You haven't been able to get back your own Golan height for decades For now, speak for yourself, as, most iranians have enough grudges and bad feelings against your country, Palestinians and particularly Lebanese Hezbollah.
29. Anthony #9
Tim   (02.14.11)
I apologize for my moron compatriot. Of course, Israel smashed Egypt in 1973. Sharon surrounded their army and taught them a lesson that brought them to Camp David. The events in Egypt this month show all Americans who are our only stable friends.
30. I AGREE! US should CEASE ALL MONEY to Egypt!
Fact Finder ,   US   (02.14.11)
It ain't like the Russians are in a financial position to do anything, China doesn't care and no Arab nation will step in because they're scared of their own fate. Camp David is dead: Egypts military was repeatedly defeated by Israel and is in it's worst shape in decades! Let the idiots vote in such a leader where they decide "their own fate"....uh, that would be sinking deeper into 3rd world status and losing the Sinai. This "fever" better not be about zombies coming into power or someone is in for a major surprise and it ain't the US or Israel. We're almost out of Iraq, soon Afghanistan, we've freed up tremendous military resources: if the militants want to play ball, they should look carefully at what happened when the knocked down two buildings in America: we knocked down and out TWO COUNTRIES and brought the terrorists to their knees: now they only have 13 year olds to do their dirty work and it aint helpin the Arabs or muslims One bit. Tread carefully rebels and do the right thing: advance freedom and democracy. Any other route and you'll be ground out like a dirty habit.
