1. suspect photo
eliyokim   (02.14.11)
I notice that in the suspect photo the person is wearing a kippah, so I'm curious if that is the real suspect, or if this is just another attempt for ynet to slander the observant community...and if so that is the most despicable case of journalistic integrity I have ever seen and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
2. shocking to show suspect's face
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (02.14.11)
It is considered poor manner's to show the face of the 'suspect'. Perhaps he is yet innocent and some one else is guilty; yet now his face is shown as the guilty party and his reputation is ruined.
3. If he is guilty
Ben ,   Israel   (02.14.11)
then do as my old booba would say... cut off his schmackle and put salt on the wound.....
4. Kippa and ID
Alfie Knowkes ,   Golan   (02.14.11)
Yes he's wearing a kippa #1, most Israeli's with a court date do; helps with "God will forgive me/ judge me/ sodomize me in a bathroom" plea. #2 It is terrible that this persons reputation is ruined, so are the innocence of two young girls and the dignity of their families. Sharp knives and short ropes are needed.
5. 12 year old
debbie ,   israel   (02.14.11)
I hope now that they have the suspect in custody, they will also detain and investigate the father. This is a blaring example of total irresponsibility and stupidity on the part of parents. I would not leave my 12 year old daughter to wander around a city on her own, and added to this, the child has downs syndrome, which I understand to mean, her judgment is impaired? This was simply ugly for this father to let her out of his sight. I'm sure it isnt the first time he's done so, and it won't be the last. Has he no shame? Some people aren't even qualified to raise dogs. Driving through religious neighborhoods in Israel, I am totally shocked to see children who look as young as 3 years old, walking by themselves, and kids who couldnt be more than 4 or 5, wheeling babies in strollers across the street. Didnt their parents ever hear of pedophilia? Speeding drivers?
6. When media commit the offense last: More to the story please
John ,   Globe   (02.14.11)
As mots know media makes news as sensational as possible, like the boy who crief "wolf" to the townspeople... how much of media is fact and how much is diluted. EG is the 20 year old also mentall ill? etc etc. Israel does need 2 things off the bat 1) more quanititative and qualitative education. Also more Jewish moral education, as the secualr left has bankrupted all of what small amount used to exist 2) capital punishment, and more severe jail terms for terrorism and sexual assault on those most vulnerable.
7. #1 most likely he started wearing it after he was arrested
(02.14.11)
all criminals seem to do it lately, since it seems to give them better verdicts (seriously)
8. So praying takes precedence over child care?
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (02.14.11)
This guy obviously thought that praying takes precedence over the welfare of his daughter. 12 years old is too young to leave any child alone in a cafe and ispure wilful neglect when in addition the child is mentally challenged. He should also be investigated.
9. Attn: #1
Seriously ,   Jerusalem   (02.14.11)
Are you saying that a person that wears a kippah could not commit such a crime? From personal expereince I can tell you that you are dead wrong.
10. Police
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.14.11)
The police came "40 minutes later." Did the cleaners not call them? Were the police dilatory? How can the reporter write that line without an explanation?
11. Eternal separation from YHWH is the punishment
Rivkah   (02.14.11)
for raping a child or causing a child to stumble morally. Eternal separation from YHWH. That is why child molesters do not change and should be locked up in mental hospitals for life. They cannot be redeemed. They cannot repent. They are eternally doomed to the pit of hell and then the lake of fire.
12. There are three things to be considered:
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.14.11)
1- The father is guilty of child neglect and should be punished with prison. 2- The suspect if guilty deserves the death penalty. 3- Israel really needs a police force and not the Keystone Kops we have now. Forty minutes later? Why were the alleged police on a coffee break, having lunch or shopping in the local supermarket? Perhaps they went to get their cellphones fixed? I saw a couple in Pelephone in Afula doing that in the middle of their shift on Sunday.
13. @1, eliyokim
(02.14.11)
grow up
15. #2 Yes they SHOULD show his face
vicky ,   ashkelon   (02.15.11)
They have evidence and that should be enough. You yanks are too much for the purpetrator than the victim. Thankfully unlike the US he won/t be able to negotiate his sentence from a major crime to a lesser pickpocket style one!
16. But how can it be a nice religious boy
Avi ,   Israel   (02.15.11)
im sorry i dont understand the boy is religious and obviously leads a religious life style how could he commit such an act ?
17. To all you more concerned about him wearing a Kippa
Vicky ,   Ashkelon   (02.15.11)
The kippa does not necessarialy mean that the person is free from sin. He may never attend prayers, but Mum insists that it be worn. See the kids in the street anywhere in Israel and the ones most disrespectful are adorned with more than the Kippa. Jewish faith is about how you act and by what you do not just with prayer but in society itself. You do not have to attend a Beit Knesset to be a good Jew. The same happens in other faiths, its alright to Lie for Allah (Islam) Say 2 hail Mary's and yr sins are fogiven (Catholic faith) are just 2 examples.
