1. This is a great bill!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.15.11)
Very reminiscent of the G.I. bill in the United States. Individuals who have served the State of Israel deserve recognition and an easement of their college tuitions. If the Arab MKs don't like the bill, perhaps their constituency can contemplate leaving Israel -- forever -- and study abroad. Good-bye. Don't let the door slam you in the tizz on your way out of Medinat Israel.
2. Good idea
Shalom Hartman   (02.15.11)
Soldiers should see some type of reward for their efforts. In fact I don't think it's enough they should get a 50% reduction.
3. State must support ALL students
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (02.15.11)
The state should give ALL students a 2000 NIS *monthly* grant and 2000 NIS optional loan, so that they will be able to study fulltime. This would allow them to live at minimum wage level. That's the way it's done in The Netherlands, it should be the same here. This proposal is a complete JOKE.
4. Great bill
Rachel ,   US   (02.15.11)
Those who serve the state deserve recognition.
5. anyone who disagrees with tibi about anything is a racist
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.15.11)
and this comes from a racist in his own right.
6. Give to the State - Get From the State - Makes Sense!
JM ,   Israel   (02.15.11)
Another great bill supported by Yisrael B'Tenu!
7. Daniel Breslauer - #3
Kate ,   London, UK   (02.15.11)
Breslauer is a notorious anti-Zionist. In a post at Yeshiva World, just for example, he wrote that he is "very strongly opposed to IDF service". In the light of this it is not surprising that he considers this proposal "a complete joke".
8. COPY THE U.S. G.I. BILL
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.15.11)
It's great !!
9. kol ha kavod
David Frank ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.15.11)

10. Make sure it includes Arab soldiers as well
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (02.15.11)
not just jews
11. Not a good Bill ..
Joe ,   USA   (02.15.11)
The vets should get a LARGER GRANT for education- university, college, vocational schools also taking into consideration a type of living allowance so they can pay rent & eat!..but this is a long over due start
12. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.15.11)
Why should the State of Israel finance the higher education of those who do not serve the country?
13. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.15.11)
Of course it will include Arab, Druze, Samaritan and Circassian service personnel. Why would you have thought otherwise?
14. #10 Rami
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.15.11)
Arabs, Druze & you too could qualify, just join up to gain the benefits Of course, you would first have to undergo a security check to make certain you wouldn't use your weapon against our side
15. #10 we are all Israel's soldiers
RH ,   Dalith El Carmel   (02.15.11)
I don't understand your comment at all. (for those who do not know Dalith is a Druze village - we serve in the army)
16. all these patriotic and exicted TBers didn't read carefully
(02.15.11)
The bill provides for soldiers of the IDF (that means all soldiers not this one or that one only) as well as including all those who do National Service. Please note that National Service is voluntary and no one is excluded provided they are citizens of Israel.
17. More appeasement bills from the Right wingers!
(02.15.11)
I am really starting to get tired of this appeasement business from the right! First they raise the excise taxes and then they suddenly lower them...what's that about? Am I meant to say oh thank you for taking your boot off my back?! And now this educational appeasement bill. Really come on right wingers and Mr. Netanyahu get it together and give all who want to study in upper education the right to do so for FREE! It will only cost Mr. Netanyahu having to give up government paid maintenance on one of his private homes and well he'll also have to cut back on some of his large battery of advisors and cut back some of those ministerial offices. and perhaps the MKs can cut back on their fancy cars, their fully expenses paid specialized health insurance, free computers, free cellular phones, free cable etc etc. In other words right wing MKs give us something real instead of giving us appeasement bills and window dressing!
18. 15# RH Note my post #14 to Rami
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.15.11)
All that served Israel, regardless of ethnicity are entitled to the same treatment, providing they served faithfull, unlike certain Arab members of the Knesset who are out and out traitors I know it sounds corny, one of my best friends is a Druze that I served with, I consider him to be another member of my family, his name is Zeidan
19. Yes and No
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.15.11)
Soldiers- yes. National Service for those that didn't serve in the IDF- no! They already get subsidies for being religious students.
20. #19 your information about national service isn't right!
JPM ,   Jerusalem   (02.15.11)
45% of all those who have done national service in the past 8 years are not religious. So....why shouldn't they receive the same subsidies as IDF soldiers?
