31. zionist forever remember it was a leftist gov that....
(02.16.11)
liberated the Western Wall and the Old City of Jerusalem. remember that it is by the hand of God and the might of the IDF and the wisdom of the leftist government of 1967 that we were given the victory in just 6 days! remember that is is our IDF that still manages to have ceremonies there despite the fact that the whole area is now an Orthodox synagogue. And once you remember all that do give a tiny bit of thought to apologizing for your exceedingly right wing cheekiness!

city inhabited 4000 years consecutively with exception being after 70 Jews dismembered by raiding and racist arab terrorists in 1929 (Jews came back after the 1867 war). As for the Jewish founding Fathers and mothers, dispute that they are not buried there. AVRAHAM YITZHAQ YAAQOVE SARAH RIVKAH LEAH. You are in need of a zipper for that potty mouth of yours that isnt

36. #34 y r u rude 2 others is it because they are correct...
(02.16.11)
and that frustrates you? and so just like every other insecure rightist who isn't among the brightest, you come out right away with the personal insults! or is that you people simply can't resist your fascist natures and whenever anyone disagrees with you....you have a profound and automatic need to insult and silence? You know you can get more flies with honey than with smelly nasty ointment! Get a grip give it a rest!
37. Yaawqove Yaawqove Yaawqove how could you forget....
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
....that Adam and Eve are also buried in Hebron and since Adam and Eve are G-d's first creation they are basically the founding father and mother of all humanity and therefore Hebron belongs to all of us humans and not just to you right wingers. BTW I live in Jerusalem so you do realize that Jerusalem has a greater holiness than Hebron? The matriach Rachel is buried in Bethlehem and please go do your homework you are incorrect we Jews have not continuously inhabited Hebron for 4000 years....do go have a really good look at the ancient history of the city before making your ridiculously wild claims! and finally don't be mean spirited and turn things to personal insults it greatly diminished the value of your comments!
38. To # 2, 22 and 28 impostor
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (02.16.11)
Everybody knows that I wouldn't write a comment like those! If I live in Karnei Shomron (it's in the Shomron, passing the fictive green line) is because I believe that it's part of Eretz Israel just as Hebron! So please don't be stupid and stop trying to be who you are not. Just a very ignorant person would not use a little bit more of imagination, you must be another cheap employee of Jewish haters!
39. When history really doesn't matter...
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (02.16.11)
because the myth is more powerful, publish the myth and call it 'history'. The insane acceptance of the premise of the article is curious to say the least. It is the 'Cave of the Patriarchs' without any archaelogical proof that such a burial ever happened there. Has anyone ever seen any bones or other evidence within the cave? Any contemporaneous writings or other indicia? No. No matter how hard you look, there is nothing but 'faith' to buttress your beliefs. The Torah is not a history book, Neither is the Koran. They are both religious tracts bending and shaping narratives for the benefit of the ignorant and uneducated. Just becaise you 'want to believe', doesn't make it so. And when you use the power of the state to enforce religious orthodoxy, you do a massive disservice to truth.
40. actually Mikesailor in Miami, FL.
Socialist ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
Throughout the ages Ma'arat HaMachPelach' (means the double cave) has been investigated and examined by a whole variety of Jews, Christians and Moslems. One of the more recent examinations was carried out by a team including Moshe Dayan; co-ordinated with the Israeli Archeological Authority. A 12 year old girl was sent down through a hole in the upper cave (where the cenotaphs are located, where the synagogue and the mosque are located) into the lower cave (hence the name of the cave in Hebrew). The 12 year was chosen because she was small enough to go through an existing opening as it was decided not to open the hole to a wider size. The child described everything she saw and it matched earlier historical descriptions and had points of commonality with reports from all three monotheistic religions as well as with reports from earlier historians. So my friend this isn't just about belief and wanting to believe something this is about collection of facts and archeological study over a long period of time. Sorry but, I would say that it is your comments that do a massive disservice to truth. May I suggest that you come over for a visit which includes time to study at the Hebrew University Archeology library as well as going on a visit to Hebron to have a look around.
41. Sally
Yaawqove ,   Israel   (02.16.11)
You seem to be oblivious of the direction of Israels situation vis a vis the arab world, vis a vis the arabs who adopted the name "palestinians" from the Jews. Traditional Judaism which has been keeping score the most religioulsy, pardon the pun, of Jewish denominations , pegs Avraham about 3800-4000 years ago. good enough for you?
42. #41 the romans gave the area the name Palestine not the Jews
socialist ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
43. Yaawqove not it isn't good enough for me...
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem   (02.16.11)
in your post 34 you wrote: "city inhabited 4000 years consecutively with exception being after 70 Jews dismembered by raiding and racist arab terrorists in 1929 (Jews came back after the 1867 war)." and in your last post #41 you write: "Traditional Judaism which has been keeping score the most religioulsy, pardon the pun, of Jewish denominations , pegs Avraham about 3800-4000 years ago." Your second comment does not support your first one...as your first one says there has been continous Jewish residence in Hebron for 4000 years. And that is incorrect. Please go do the research. Have a pleasant evening
44. To Mikesailor #39 (history does matter)
Mikey (Landlubber) ,   SomeWhere OverHere   (02.16.11)
Whether the Biblical Patriarchs are actually buried in the Tomb of the Patriarchs or not-- for centuries Jews have revered the site as their purported burial place and that Hebron has been to home Jews for centuries. That is a pertinent fact. It doesn't necessarily follow that Israel must exercise sovereignty over Hebron because of that pertinent fact, but Jews deserve a right to live and worship there as their forefathers have. Most in the pro-Palestinian camp dismiss and deny claims of the Jewish heritage of Hebron, which is a historical fact.
