Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (02.17.11)
The ayatollahs know better than to play with fire. They probably heard that a U.S aircraft carrier is passing through as well.
2. Iranian warship
JUDAH THE LION   (02.17.11)
Israel is watching them
3. What a Loss !
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.17.11)
I was looking forward to see what the "Israeli" reaction could be ?! maybe another chance, Liberman ; )
4. Shame !!
Stu   (02.17.11)
would have made a good training exercise for Israels navy and I'm sure Iran wouldnt be to upset about losing a couple of there tug boats
5. "new regime in Cairo prevented the two Iranian ships"
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.17.11)
Our thanks to Egypt
6. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.11)
Aww. Better luck next time, oh stupid one. Here's a hint: Israel's response would have been subdued .... and deadly. Now go work on your Jordanian accent, bubbeleh. That's much more important for your future.
7. My sincere belief.
Jules   (02.17.11)
When Lieberman is in charge it's not a good idea to mess up with Israel.
8. Jedah before Judah?
Avi   (02.17.11)
Wasn't Iran always trying to get a hold of Mecca. Now in a surprise twist it may try this since it is close to Jedah near Mecca. It will probably go for Jedah first before trying for Judah so no worries now. OK?
9. #6 Why always "Israel" needs to an agent ?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.17.11)
Why can't "Israel" do it itself ? Sarah , Will you please tell me what "bubbeleh" means ?!
10. ONLY IN ISRAEL!
Gershon ,   London UK   (02.17.11)
Only in Israel could Israeli TV criticize its country's own Foreign Ministry for raising the alarm and protesting Iranian warships going through Suez to the Med, whilst the country's own Defense Minsitry continues its irresponsible fantasy land policies of "ignoring" any military threat. I think Lieberman and Barak should swap places. Lieberman as a strong defense minister. Barak as the lala wishful thinking diplomat who believes in "peace". As for Channel 1 - maybe they should offer their services to Press TV!
11. Once Again iran Falls Flat On their
Brazen   (02.17.11)
faces, talk, talk talk. This is iran's M.O. foment, prvocate and then poof like smoke their out of their. They know full and well besides being cowards that are ALL talk, but with their antiquated hardware they will be DECIMATED, but they have developed a HOT New and Improved missile system they built at home in 4-5 months, ewww we are all shaking in out boots. iran and the mad mullahs are nothing but Hot Air. Yella
12. #9 Salma
Mike ,   Edmonton, AB   (02.17.11)
Bubbeleh: Term of endearment (like dear, pet, honey).
13. al-Reuters gives Lieberman a promotion
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (02.17.11)
Usually they (like others) in the press describe him as "right wing" or "far right". (And of course, they never label Labor and Meretz as "left wing" or "far left"). But apparently he's earned a promotion to "vociferously far-right". And what did he do to earn that promotion? His job. It was absolutely appropriate to describe the Iranian sailing as a "provocation". It was the Defense Ministry's job to prepare the operational response to that sailing, and certainly not to ignore it. Foreign policy is not a game of "let's pretend".
14. ehud barak has to go
alexi   (02.17.11)
Maybe it happens to all generals with time, too much blood, too much war-dayan, halutz, who knows. In any case barak has failed inthe marmora case, in replying tohamas, being against the syrian nuclear hit. Now the latest, 2 iranian warhships say they will transit the canal. barak was going to let them go and be quiet because he did not want to stir things up. On the other hand, leiberman called it a provocation and said israel will know what to do which made iran nervous. Egypt then cancelled their transit. so lieberman does what barak should have done. No,barak has to go already, israelis of all stripes have had enough of him. he has money, go already.
15. #12 thank you bubbeleh ; )
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.17.11)
Mike, you know what, I didn't expect something nice from Sarah , so I wondered to myself, if that word has another meaning.
16. #9 Guess you don't know about trying to avoid a war.
(02.17.11)
17. Iran was told...
RichInBoston ,   Boston USA   (02.17.11)
...through back channels that if the ships continued, they could be retrieved at the bottom of the canal. Iran wanting to avoid demonstrating how badly out of date its military assets are...decided to stand down. Iran does not have a Ground Control Intercept or any other defensive system that the USA and/or Israel CANNOT penetrate. The Iranians know this. They backed down.
18. According to right wingers: arabs are the enemy
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (02.17.11)
Is right wingers are correct, then explain to me how come israeli warships can pass freely through the suez canal while iranian ones are forbidden??
19. The last time ships were sunk in Suez
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.17.11)
Egypt lost the traffic and it's revenue for mroe than 5 years Knowing the lousy state of the Egyptian Economy,Egypt couldn't afford a similar loss of revenue again
20. #15 Don't get too excited. Sarah meant it sarcastically.
(02.17.11)
21. @ Rami, #18
Chatich   (02.17.11)
Simple. Israeli naval vessels are not a threat to anyone, except terrorists. Iranian naval vessels constitute a threat to everyone except terrorists. Hope this clears things up for you...
22. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.11)
Google it, bubbeleh.
23. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.11)
That's easy. Israel does not want Iranian warships transiting the Canal and berthing at Lebanese or Syrian ports to discharge their lethal cargoes. Israeli warships are permitted to transit the Suez Canal, because if we are prohibited passage, we'll just take it over. And we can. Did it once already, remember? There! Does that satisfy your anti-Israel lust?
24. To: No. 20 -- Very astute observation
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.11)
25. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.11)
Actually, for P&I purposes (protection and indemnity -- i.e., maritime insurances), the day that the protests in Egypt commenced, the Suez Canal became re-classed as a war zone. Egypt had already taken a huge hit in Canal fees because of the Somali piracy issues. Now they'll take a bigger one. Between loss of Canal revenues, loss of tourist trade and U.S. Congressional measures to significantly reduce the aid package to Egypt .... bad times are coming to Egypt.
26. #9 Selma
Eric ,   Toronto   (02.17.11)
"Bubeleh" comes from the Hebrew word "buba" which literally means "doll". It is a term of endearment like "honey", "dear".
27. That´s indeed a provocation
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.17.11)
but not a provocation only to Israel, but to Egypt and to all world. That monkey is going to get what he is asking for.And ,I guess, soon. Just let the maggot keep acting....
28. #21: instead of beating around the bushes...
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (02.17.11)
just admit, that you can't say arabs are the enemy, as in many case there is strong cooperation militarily and other) with Israel..
29. Are we STILL pretending that "Salma" is from "Palestine"?
Faruq   (02.17.11)
I really hope that the Egyptians have the sense to prevent the Iranian-terror-dictatorship from causing more trouble in the region.
30. Rami of Nazareth 28
JUDAH THE LION   (02.17.11)
Yes the Arabs are our enemies, same as you Arabs says Jews are your enemies. Your prophet Mohammed have killed many Jews who have refused to convert to Islam.Bottom line Jews bcannot live with Arabs in peace
