31. #28 - "Looking for Love'
Marie-Luise ,   Germany   (02.17.11)
>I dont think so. Migrant workers receive a working permit to allow them to work in Israel for 3 years. After their 3 years are up, instead of renewing their visas, they need to leave Israel, pronto.< This would be my recommendation, too. We did not send our foreign laborers back to Turkey. Instead, they were allowed to bring over their familien -- and look at the problems we are having nowadays. Send them back after expiration of their work contract--by all means!
32. right to love

so funny!i If you are in the USA and fall in love with someone are you going back home just to find LOVE... in your own country???
37.  # 34 & # 35
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.18.11)
Believe me Angie, I know I am very lucky to be live in my own country (Israel) True, love is everywhere. For whats its worth, the Philippine care workers here in Israel are kind, decent, respectfull hard working people, who have my respect. I know how hard it is for them (you) to find decent jobs back home.
38. # 36
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.18.11)
Remy, this article is not about finding love in USA. Its about finding love in Israel, which is a predominatly Jewish country & some of us would like to keep it that way.
39. Cry me a river!
Tahl   (02.18.11)
What a naive article from a bleeding-heart liberal. There is a very good reason for this mentioned stipulation. The "love" that foreign workers find here serves only to give them a visa extension, or permanent residency, thus getting more social services and burdening our economy. Foreign workers come here for a very defined time period, in order to WORK. And we must have constant replacement of these workers, otherwise those who stay too long would naturally become attached to the country, find a partner, start a family, and then make a petition to stay. We don't want that here. If they want love, let them get back to their own countries and find it. And if they don't like this, well then, no one is twisting their arm them to come here!

angie ,   phil.   (02.18.11)
why?care giving and housekeeping are not decent work?hope, you won't get older that you will need caregiver in the future or strong enough that you will need help to clean your house.
41. #32, there is nothing saying they cannot have relationships
Danny   (02.18.11)
this is a lie by the author of this article. What they are not allowed to do is have kids here.
42. To #30
Tahl   (02.18.11)
You have absolutely no right to preach morals to us from Norway.
43. Liberal nonsense
Self-giving Love? ,   UK   (02.18.11)
St Valentine was a christian saint who upheld the right to Godly Marraige vows, the higher form of marital love in pagan times. Immigrant women are not only vulnerable but likely to fall for deceptive schemes and may later find themselves mothers of large families they cannot support. Why cannot you journalists calm down and exercise wisdom sometimes. Large families who lack competence end up on benefit - the UN should look to its own islamic problems first before it hands out advice to a more civilised world view. Sex used to be a right of marriage before the liberals came in with their unrealist and irresponsible views. Population control or family planning in the interests of the next generation, could be exercised responsibly but no one considers that! China is guilty of inhumaity in this area so lets hope they do not become a world power.

Birdi ,   Israel   (02.18.11)
You have misunderstood me. Every job (work) is honourable. Care giving & housekeeping are decent jobs.
45. #24 World
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.18.11)
You must be an admrer of Libya, Yemen, etal , and the many other Arab countries tht are in the midst of their own little revolutions
46. #10, you're missinformed
Mika   (02.18.11)
Foreigners in the US are allowed to get married, and they are also allowed to have children. Furthermore, if they have children in the US the children automatically become US citizens. US immigration law is way nicer to foreigners than ours. I'm ashamed for us.
47. #4
angie ,   phil.   (02.18.11)
how old are you now?hope you stay young in your whole life that you won't need a caregiver or housecleaner in the future.
48. Mika #46
Tahl   (02.19.11)
You're ashamed for us? Clearly you have no clue. Trust me, our treatment of immigrats is a hell of a lot nicer than the US's. Over there the masses of illegal refugees are arrested and put in stinking detention facilities, and quickly deported with hardly any medical attention, and without the media circus they have over here. As for the US citizenship given by birth, the US is the ONLY country in the world to offer that. And we are not the US. We are the homeland of the Jewish people, and therefore we have the law of return. If you don't approve of this way, maybe you live in the wrong country.
49. Shameful indeed
Erik ,   Norway   (02.19.11)
With all the racism and bigotry the Jews have suffered while in exile, one would assume that Israel would be the last country on Earth to be cruel and heartless towards foreigners. You'd have to be incredibly foolish and naive if you think none of those thousands of people would never bond with their new host country, develop ties and want to settle permanently. So if you dont want it to happen and want the country to remain homogenous, you shouldnt have let them in in the first place. Kicking such people out as if they're discarded trash is both immoral and heartless.
50. Compelling argument
Brod ,   USA   (02.19.11)
If a foreign worker is deprived of one of his/her most basic needs, that is, to love, that is inhumanity. It is worst than slavery.
51. The right to work
JO   (02.19.11)
Stupid article. If you were a westerner who came here and outstayed your visa or worked without one, you would be deported. Tell me why those that smuggle themselves into the country are so entitled when others are not? Contracts of work are normal the world over, and while being in love is fine and good, the question of where to settle and have children is a responsible question that has to be lawfully considered. You can't just have children and then expect the law to make an exception for you. There is no right to love, and love itself is not an insurance policy that grants you exceptions to the law you have agreed to. Plenty have done so and now cry out injustice? Why?
52. Tahl 48 , again WRONG
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.19.11)
France gives the French nationality to people born there from unknown , apatride or who don't want to give their own nationality to their child . So the USA is not the only . There are maybe other's too .
53. #46 Mika
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.19.11)
The U.S. Law was intended to give legal status to freed American Slaves, not to grant rights to people that weren't born in the USA and who entered illegally Congress is trying to change it since it's a vast drain on the American economy, schools, hospitals & social services
54. My own experience is very different
Ruth Rasnic ,   Herzliya, Israel   (02.19.11)
Both my husband and I are disabled and have been allowed to employ a migrant worker. The 2 ladies who have worked for us (one is still with us) have boyfriends with whom they spend their weekends. They are allowed 13 vacation days for holidays a year, two weeks holiday vacation and each Sunday off. Upon termination of their work they must receive severance pay. Going through the daily chores, they do not work an 8 hour day but roughly 5-6 hours. They have full board, a room of their own, are treated like family members and can go out in the evenings but choose not to do so. Employers pay National Insurance, health insurance, a fee to the company where they are registered. All their friends have boyfriends. They earn at least 10 times more than in their countries of origin. This is why they come here in the first place.
55. Lunatics
zichron   (02.19.11)
treat the foreign workers well let them have families and offer them a bonuses to leave or convert to humanitarian noachidism or reform judaism . if they want to stay as christans allow them to stay as christians are our friends now and have asked our forgiveness . WE MUST RECONCILE. if we have to be ruthles with our enemies we must be very ruthless but not with pro jewish christianity .
56. #50 Food & Clothing are needs
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.19.11)
Sex is pleasure The worker is free to leave since he/she was hired to work, not enjoy fleshly pleasures I don't know where you work, nor do I care, however I'm quite certain that if don't fulfill your duties, you're going to canned
57. Ben #56
Brod ,   USA   (02.19.11)
The report talks about love and not sex.
58. go tell that to saudi arabia where most workers are made int

into slaves who's passport is taken away and many are sexually attacked ....We need to get rid of the useless UN
59. Israeli pitful wages and jackedup prices. Pharoh leaders.
Josh   (02.20.11)
The Rabbis say you get Cherim if you say a Jew is a slave. It is another false addition rule they added and claim Jews must follow or suffer the cosequences? Yet the same book that they lump together with the first person book by Moses called the entire Torah has the Levis taking about Jewish slaves. Well? Are the Levis deserving of cherim? Why do the Rabbis want this fact hidden? Is there a modern day need by slave owners to hide the fact from slaves that they are slaves? Just questions but the whole thing is odd. Could that with the treatment of Israeli workers under protexia policing, one must raise an eyebrow. Fact is the Torah non-compliance promise that we would be led back on the road to slavery, may be what we all face this day. If it were up to these thugs that don;t have the common sense not to legislate aganst love and make love some type of evil that needs punished, then they are not very far off from what Pharaoh tried to do to the first born. My how things come full circle when we don't do Torah. Look in the mirros and ask is this really "Good and right in G-d's eyes". ..and what becomes of those righteous who fail to raise a voice in objection? Did a world war two german citizen who wanted to object, fail to object when the window of opportunity was open? Torah will have its way with these ego facists men who make such laws against one of the only good things left in this world "LOVE".
