Barney ,   USA   (02.19.11)
islamists terrorists that hate western values and want to dominate the world with sharia law. no matter what the US does, and they did the right thing, Israel should strengthen defenses, expand borders, and protect itself against this worthless, fanatical, hateful, mindset of islam and radical fundamentalists. the world is getting sick of them. what do they have to offer other than hate and intolerance and oil?
62. It is Israel's Land
Brod ,   USA   (02.19.11)
Judea and Samaria are Israel's land since ancient time-4000 years ago since the time of Israel's forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED to Israel as GOD"S everlasting Covenant to Israel. The Islamist-Jihadists want to usurp the Land of Israel from the Jewish Nation as they do to other countries around the world. America did the right move to veto the scoundrels' effort of trying to usurp Judea and Samaria-Israel's liberated historic homeland-Land of Israel from the Jewish Nation. It is time the Free World sees the ugly hands of Islamist-Jihadism. The latter thinks that they can subdue, dominate and usurp the whole world with impunity. Already their Trojan Horse in Europe and America is trying to infiltrate, dominate and impose their culture, religion and Shariah Law in Western societies. The West must wake up before it finds itself being the minority in its own countries. The West must counter the toxicity of Islam by the teachings of the Prince of Peace in Matthew Chapter 5 to Chapter 7. Only the Light of the world can shine into the world of darkness and cleanse it from its toxins of hatred and murder.
63. abbas thought he could dictate to Obama, Clinton
dante ,   uk   (02.19.11)
abbas is a fool, a hateful, mendacious fool. Obama and Clinton tried to appease abbas and abbas knew that. but abbas thought that the Americans were weak, malleable and that he could bluff them into supporting his resolution. he calculated that Americans would recoil from the anticipated blowback from a veto and could be induced to abstain. abbas is a hateful fool. he could have had a resolution that suited his purposes. he blew it, again.
64. Arabs love it whe you blame the jews
Arturo   (02.19.11)
"I summon my blue-eyed slaves anytime it pleases me. I command the Americans to send me their bravest soldiers to die for me. Anytime I clap my hands a stupid genie called the American ambassador appears to do my bidding. When the Americans die in my service their bodies are frozen in metal boxes by the US Embassy and American airplanes carry them away, as if they never existed. Truly, America is my favorite slave." King Fahd...
65. "carried signs referring to Obama by his skin color"
Tahl   (02.19.11)
And those bloody Arab hypocrites dare calling us Israelis "racists"?... And why do I get the feeling nobody in the western media would report about this incident? Clearly, if Jews were to do the same thing, it would be all over CNN, BBC, the Guardian, etc.
66. To those who praise the democratic "Israel"
Ihab ,   Lebanon   (02.19.11)
Once again the Americans reveal their ugly face. They are a biased administration that is driven by it's interests away from any morality or values. The veto itself is an anti democratic gesture that exposes the Nazi and fascist nature of Israel. What are the options left for the Palestinians? See why sayed nasrallah represents our hope in a world that respects nothing but the force? Israel will be paying one day highly for it's racism even if we need to wait for another 60 years.
67. Busha Ve'Herpa
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (02.19.11)
Well we were wrong. We believed his words when he called for a 2 state solution, when he spoke about seeking to bring the parties together, when he committed himself to peace between us and the Palestinians. Obama is weak in this, not strong. He has by this one act told the weak Bibi and his ever more extremoist anti-democratic RIGHT wing cabinet and government that yes you can flout all pressure all criticism and still have our money our $3 billion+ each year and still perpetuate the occupation and oppress the Palestinians. What Obama has done today is to help our further internal deterioration by strengthening the hands of neo fascist Israelis. Who will save our state now?
68. Why racism?
Michal ,   Czech republic   (02.19.11)
What is racist about that? We all know, that afroamericans should understand the situation of opressed Palestinians better, than anybody else, because their ancestors used to live under opression. It's sad, that USA supports illegal settlements, it's sad, that Obama supports opression.
69. @#5: Nah. They're waiting for Nasrallah to conquer the Galil
Bat Zion ,   Central Israel   (02.19.11)

71. When will the poltroons wake?
BA ,   Sweden   (02.19.11)
When will the elected pultroons in the Knesset, and in the Government wake up? Get rid of Barak & his crew within the ministry and in the different levels of IDF. Get ready for the inevitable war/s soon ahead. The Muslim Umma will never accept or come to terms with a Jewish state in any part what so ever of Eretz-Israel. At any provocation they ought to be smashed to pices. Since they hate us anyway, let us give them plenty of reason to do so!
72. #5 Next arab tsunami drown Kiev.
Rehavam ,   Israel   (02.19.11)
and your Bandera's mug.
73. You guys make me laugh
john   (02.19.11)
This is not about settlements; this is not about American support for settlements; this not about American feelings towards Palestinians; this is not even about how ridiculous the UN is; this is about Israelis and Palestinians not being able to reach an agreement - so, they play chess with one another. This was one Palestinian move - nothing more. Israel will soon counter. That's all this is about. - literally bending or compelling each other to do the other's political will.
74. #5. Don't you dare to lecture Israel. Your failed State
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (02.19.11)
Ukraine is the world champion in alcoholic consumption among children and youth, with an average shameful salary of 200$, begging Russia for gas each winter, with the history of being the most Anti Semitic of all 15 former USSR republics, willingly collaborating with Nazis during WW2. Dreaming to become a member of EC? If I were you I would concentrate not on "palestinian" problem, but on Russia. It has a nice plan for you!
75. mark lyall grant...
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (02.19.11)
a product of eton and trinity cambs.. so he would know a lot of people in SIS, indeed the FCO examinations, that is who you know, are the same. and his great great uncle james lyall, the guy who as govenor of the punjan, put the natives (however the empire termed them) to build a city with a grid plan in the shape of the british flag. not illegal no doubt. with this type of british arosto leading the charge with illegal under international law (a somewhat empty phrase methinks) i can only cringe at the lack of creativity of such a highly placed and highly paid person. except when he's being condescending, which is a sight to behold.
76. Nr 8.
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.19.11)
What kind of an idiocy is this ? The Palestinians has shown that they dont want to negotiate Peace with Israel, they even refuse to do so, but try to get Israel condemned instead. Talkbacker Nr 5 is of the same sort. Orao.Srbia.
77. USA is isolated
IRAN#1   (02.19.11)
They are the only ones to vote no, everyone else voted yes. And the funny thing is USA keeps claiming Iran is isolated, HHAHHAHAH!!!!!
78. 2 points
Mike S. ,   Phoenix, USA   (02.19.11)
1) Out of 15 countries, the US was the only 1 to say no! humm.... I wonder how long this can hold because OBVIOUSLY there's something wrong here. 2) How STUPID can Palestinians be to consider the US as a 3rd party?! Come on people you need somebody between you and (Israel AND the US)
79. kick them out
fadi ,   beirut ,Lebanon   (02.19.11)
all the US embassador from the islamic world and hold the 2000 tunisian jews in prisons until they release the 10.000 palestinians ones. that is what need to be done if we still have blood in our veins .. let them think twice . that day is very very very close ,i hope .
80. looking forward...
Laurence ,   Tustin, USA   (02.19.11)
...to the day that Israel's borders include the Suez, West Bank and Gaza and all the vermin living there have been returned to their rightful owners in Syria, Jordan and Turdistan.
81. GOOD JOB!!!
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.19.11)
We don't take orders from Abbas, you take orders from us, remember that! Like I said in an earlier post from another article related to this, this was a Pallywood intimidation tactic from the Arabs in the disputed land. Save it. It didn't work, you thought we would back down just because you tried to define the PR spin. Sorry Bubba, notice the U.S. didn't say it was illegal, but lacked legitimacy. But the U.S. wouldn't give the Arab position any UN legitimacy for their position either. As we all know there are two sides to any argument. The Arabs believe the settlements are illegal and repeat the lie often. But they are NOT illegal, just because some say (often) they are, in fact International Law says they are legal. Maybe ill advised from a PR standpoint, but NOT illegal. Those that say they are, have already been proven wrong by many experts in International Law. Just because you hear the same BS doesn't mean its true. After all these are the same fellas that say people are starving in Gaza, and we know that was lie. So what makes you think this statement is true? Why would you believe proven liars? It's a question of International Law, NOT International public opinion. Don't be fooled by the liars who come these boards and quote a bunch of crap, because I'll counter it with a well sourced legal opinion that proves them wrong.
82. Obama give back your peace prize

palestine Hawk ,   alqods   (02.19.11)
Hypocrite and is on the Wrong Side of History he should be Ashamed To Be an American He supported Mubarak until it was too late, now he is supporting land theft, water theft, military rule and apartheidism. No wonder so many people in the world dislike the U.S. even the israeli do not like him
85. good news
alsky ,   toronto   (02.19.11)
you can fool some of the people some of the time viva israel
86. A message for anti-Israel buffoons
Gobbo   (02.19.11)
You're fools if you believe this veto means Obama supports the settlements. Obama can't afford to be seen as overly hostile to Israel before his bid for re-election in 2012. Denying the veto at present would signal to Israel's enemies that America has abandoned Israel. That would ratchet up tensions in the Middle East and cause a severe domestic backlash against Obama, what with more Republicans in power now and an election year coming up. But an Obama victory in 2012 does represent a genuine danger for Israel.
87. We must all be pleased with the fact that the Obama...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.19.11)
...administration, despite its initial act in office and contrary to it, has finally seen the light in that "settlements" - whatever one may think of their justifications - are not and have never been the cause of the Arab Israeli conflict, and are not likely to be the way out of it. What has been the main obstacle to reaching an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between the Muslim-Arab world and the naiton-state of the Jewish people has rather been the categorical refusal by the Muslim-Arabs, local and regional, to accept Israel's RIGHT to be - not only the FACT that it is - to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, as dictated by UN resolutions, League of Naitons decisions, San Remo Conference and the Balfour Declaration, all parts of the corpus dubbed "internaitonal law". Let us hope the Obama adminstration comes also comes around to appreciate that this is the crux of the problem and not "settlements" and begin to addres it in its interaction with the Muslim-Arab leaders.
88. AT LAST - REASON PREVAILS
superhero ,   Johannesburg RSA   (02.19.11)
Great to see that not everyone is ready to banter to trumpt-up alegations of land theft, etc etc. Another attempt to destroy the Jewish State has failed. Please Sunni/Shite peace lovers just snap your fingers - accept the Jewish State - and peace will prevail for ever and ever Amein. G-d bless America.
89. @ SARAH B Don't hate the player... hate the game
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA/ISRAEL   (02.19.11)
It amazes me you can't just say thank you Obama. Obama is continuing the same foreign policy towards Israel as any other admin before him except that he is trying to help Israel obtain a comprehensive peace after many decades of failure. The US is in a tough position here. Israel needs some tough love so it could bend a little at the peace table.
90. Who dfon't want peace here ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.19.11)
Who attacked Israel in 1948 ? When the reborn Jewish State accepted the UN resolution for partition of then called Palestine . Who occupied ILLEGALLY Judea Samaria and Jerusalem ? There were NO borders between this illegal occupied territory by Jordan , and Israel . The "green line" was ONLY a cease fire one , recognised as so by the Jordanians . Israel HAD to free this region , from a hostile army ,because of SELF DEFENSE when Jordan , a UN member , attacked another UN member Israel . The "palestinians" rejected all the peace offers , even when receiving almost all of Judea Samaria and Jerusalem , in 2000 . They had all possible opportunities to to come and discuss during the 10 months construction freese , but thery did'nt . This veto by the USA ? they too understand that arabs will NEVER respect any UN resolution , history has proven it . Only direct discussions can resolve the problem , but arabs who LOST all wars will have to make concessions , big ones .
