1. Everyday is a Day of Rage
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.19.11)
Since they're so unhappy, go to Jordan, the land the Brits swiped from the Jewish Mandated and gave to Emir Abdullah
2. Good for her!
noa ,   israel   (02.19.11)
And who did the Arabs threaten to cancel aid to? Oh, I forgot, they don't give to anyone, they just take.
3. US made the right decision given the circumstances.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (02.19.11)
4. DO THE US LOOSERS NEVER LEARN ?.
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (02.19.11)
A senior Fatah element told the Palestinian news agency Sama that Clinton threatened Abbas on Friday to cancel US aid. According to the source, US President Barack Obama told Abbas on Thursday night that no other American president has promoted the Palestinian issue more vigorously . Comment - Take away the Aid and the US will loose PR in the whole World. But of Cause the US should. The US should stop sticking their Noses into the Mideasts affairs, Regarding Israels Affairs, and try to impose their will upon Israel. Israel knows the MIdeast better than anybody else, and the US should take Heed to that ans support Israel behind the Scene. Orao.Srbia.
5. Palestinian tail wagging American lap-poodle.
David Turner ,   Richmond, USA   (02.19.11)
Sign of the times, the Palestinian tail wagging what they obviously see as the American lap-poodle. Since America let loose the Iranian lion by removing Persia's arch enemy Sadam, US credibility is approaching nil. That the Palestinians, dependent on the entire world simply to survive daily, are confident enough first to spurn a request-suggestion-order from the American bankroller-diplomatic protector is certainly a sign of the times! Yes, in the past Bush was embarrassed by ME heads of state, had a shoe thrown at him on one occasion; and yes Secretary of Defense Gates was unceremoniously bidden to make an unscheduled stopover in Riyadh to explain US position on Iran after the failure to convince Israel during the Biden visit. But for a disputed head of an entity to say "no," and then to allow that "no hard feeling, we still allow you to fund and support us," has the US lost its dignity along with its position in the region?
6. Wake up Arabs who call themsleves "Palestinians", previously
Yaawqove ,   Israel   (02.19.11)
"arabs". The world knows that you rejected the best offers an Israeli government can offer- 100 % including land swaps from olmert. The consensus of educated Jews recognize their name sake as Jews is from Judea (what you call the west bank), the historical cradle of the Jewish people. You have 22 arab countries and you are arab only as your leaders honestly said before "being palestinian" became a political strategy to try to destroy the Jewish state, phase by phase. Jordan is the best option for you as citizens. stay where you are in Judea, get Israeli residency and Jordanian citizenship, or change "Jordan" back to what it was called before Jordan/Transjordan..."Palestine", iun fact 78% of it..
7. US policy is indefensible...
Mikesailor ,   Mimi, FL   (02.19.11)
As can be seen by the duplicity inherent in our Israeli policy. If the settlements are a violation of international law which is longstanding US policy, then why is a resolution vetoed? Why has US pressure always been to ensure compliance by the Palestinians while we keep shoveling money to Israel? We have abandoned any pretense of the rule of law when it comes to Israel. We give lip service, and little else, to the pretense of standing for democracy and Western ideals. Unfortunately, Obama is as much of a foreign policy blunderer as his predecessor. The most insane part of the policy is not accepting that not only the Arabs concerned, but the entire world is witness to our hypocrisy. Any 'peace process' will only work if supervised by the UN. We have abandoned any right to be seen as 'honest brokers' as we have claimed in the past. Let the aid to both sides end, if necessary, but rewarding the Israelis for violating international norms is sickening.
8. Knowing the Mideast
mba ,   Israel   (02.19.11)
Yeah, Israel knows the Mideast better than anyone else. That's why for the past 62 years there have been seven wars (depending on how and what you count) with no peace in sight. A sad state that the army is the only real stable and reliable element in the country. Our politicians are already over crowding the jails and court system and there is absolutely no diplomats to be found. When you are in the middle of the ocean and in a storm any floating instrument will be grabbed. In this case it's the US
9. thank you Obama, thank you Clinton
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.19.11)
you remind me of the American constants : ( shame.
10. Hilary doesn't get it!
IRAN#1   (02.19.11)
The game is changing Pax Americana is finished in the Middle East. There is a new climate and Iran is going to lead and shape the events in the region from now on. Your predecessor called it the "new middle east", ask her to teach you a bit about what she meant, LOL!!!
11. Borders will be made only by negotiations
Uri ,   i   (02.19.11)
12. A LESSON IN REALPOLITIK FOR ABBAS
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.19.11)
". Nevertheless, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed that the PA will not boycott the US. " What gross, elitist arrogance from Abbas. He sounds so ridiculous,I'm finding it hard not to split my sides laughing. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
13. 'Clinton threatened to cancel aid to PA'
Galut ,   Selah   (02.19.11)
Follow Thru ! or your word means nothing
14. Just a feeling
Isaac   (02.19.11)
If I had to bet, chances are that Rep. Ros-Letinen threated to cut off aid to the PA if Obama didn't veto the resolution or else the democrats, like Ackerman, forced Obama. This is just a feeling especially given Susan Rice's statement.
15. #7 - name a peace process where the UN helped
William ,   Israel   (02.19.11)
Everywhere the UN has gone there has been chaos, death, and corruption - sometimes at the hands of the UN themselves. Since you still place your bets on this defunct organization which many Americans want de-funded and off US soil, you have solidified for readers here your absolute detachment from reality.
16. War is hell
StevenA ,   Bay Area, USA   (02.19.11)
There is a price to pay in every war. The Palestinians are paying that price. If they want their own country, let them recognize Israel's own right to exist as an independent Jewish nation, instead of trying to push the Jews into the sea. Stop coddling the Palestinians. They had 10 months of building moratorium during which time the did nothing to promote the peace. Enough already. Face it, Palestinians will never sit down at the table with Israel. This is something they need to work out on their own. No amount of concessions will ever satisfy them.
17. #10 IRAN
GOOD ,   USA/IL   (02.20.11)
No, you don't get it. Iran is finished this way or another. If you continue on your present path you'll be destroyed by an outside force or by your own people. Look around you and see what is coming your way. Your scumbag Mullahs can stop the revolt only for a short while longer and soon they'll be hanged on cranes by the people they oppressed for 32 years.
18. #9 Your gig is up
Cynthia ,   USA   (02.20.11)
You hoped to cheat your way to statehood. Circumvent Israel to avoid making any agreements that would end the conflict. You want to sustain the conflict with the hope of eliminating Israel. You want one state and no Israel. This has nothing to do with settlements.
19. Blame
mba ,   israel   (02.20.11)
Balame the Brits, the French, the Americans, even the Russians but not the Israeli government and its leaders; always someone else's fought.
20. to#7
Jennie ,   US/Israel   (02.20.11)
Which international law exactly, Israel is violating and by which countries was it declared, accepted, recorded,etc...? Could you also specify how much $$$ exactly is being shovelled to Israel... By all facts and standards, Israel is quite a self sufficiant progressive country....Israel does receive loans, that are paid back on time with interest....And I don't even need to remind you and your ilk, that for the size of Israel, their advancement and contributions to the world in the fields of medicine, hitech, physics and their constant strive for peace, despite all odds, should be a lesson to people like you, that there is nothing you can say that could ever effect or sway decent people's mind...
21. to nr. 12.
entrepreneur ,   planet earth   (02.20.11)
FOUR CHEERS FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM!!! BRITTANIA RULES THE WAVES! Saluton.
22. #7 wake up its not Israel anymore for you .
rachel ,   usa   (02.20.11)
how about saudi arabia libya ,barhain, etc/// etc....or is it just Israel that you want to "get"?
23. #10 can't wait to see amadinejad hanging on one of those cra
rachel ,   usa   (02.20.11)
cranes that have been killing so many innocent people
24. What a farce
Anon ,   SA   (02.20.11)
I can't help wondering why this story gets so much attention and why the EU etc are so invested in the Pal story. The UN is not a trusted body and never has been but how come people with more than two brain cells give a damn about these people who are only interested in creating chaos and have never contributed anything to the region or the world is a great mystery.
25. American voters would end P.A. aid in a heart beat.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.20.11)
Polls consistently show that, among Americans, the P.A. is one of the least popular entities in the world. It's right down there with Pakistan and Iran. Israel, on the other hand, is among Americans' favorite nation. American voters would end aid to the P.A. in a heart beat if they had a chance to. Why not hold a national referendum on the subject?
26. No, not even Israel was satisfied by how this played out
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (02.20.11)
The PA, of course, is hopping mad - they thought they could "roll" the US. The US tried to square the circle - to suck up to Arab demands while not abandoning Israel - and only belatedly discovered it can't be done. Then they made it worse, with Rice "explaining" the US vote with a slam at Israel. That leaves even Israel mad at them. The only good that emerges is that the US has at last cast that "first veto in the UN" - as if going along is a mark of successful policy. Maybe it won't hesitate the next time a veto is called for.
27. a people living on welfare have plenty of time to reject
bernard Ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (02.20.11)
28. Next election al american moslem will vote Republican
teflon moslem ,   kufa iraq   (02.20.11)
8 million moslem waisted their votes last election and helped elect pretenders they prove to be no good we share great values with republican I personally voted for GW bush twice forget the democrat they are infested party
29. 25 Chaim - Israeli Politicians Would Not Allow That
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (02.20.11)
If the US cut off the PA, it would dissolve as it almost did in 2006. Then Israeli taxpayers would have to pay for your occupation. Their security would fold and then you'd get to do all the policing and fire fighting. But you would get to run the schools and hire and fire all the teachers and control the curriculum. And you could pay for it all yourselves since there would be no PA and no government except the occupation administration run by Israel. You could even close all the mosques that don't preach how holy you are. Or t you could force convert all the kids - your choice.
30. To mrs Clinton
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (02.20.11)
Go to hell you and your aid.
