If the crew of the two Iranian ships want to defect, they should follow this course: Left hand down a bit as you leave the Suez canal Keep going west north west about 1000kms,careful not to hit Crete. Keep going about another 1000kms and Malta is right ahead.Careful not to miss it. Bon Voyage. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!

ships...
7. Wow..
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (02.22.11)
Believe it or not, Iranians have found a way to help Egyptian ruined economy! Few more ships, each paying around 300,000 $ and they will not care about tourists any more.
8. HI SHIA ISLAM.....................BYE SHIA ISLAM
(02.22.11)
9. is Israel permitted to board any ship bound to Gaza or Syria
observer ,   Egypt   (02.22.11)
answer: only non warships.
10. #7 - transiting the suez canal is not free...
seadog1946 ,   Ong's Hat, NJ USA   (02.22.11)
the toll paid by the Iranians is typical.
11. these ships are not the threat
zionist forever   (02.22.11)
These two ships in themselves are no threat to Israel and they are not there to pick a fight. The worry comes if they decide they want a navel base in Syria or Lebanon and they then place a large fleet there because Iran does have a modern navy and they have more ships than Israel does. As for the ships being allowed to travel through the canal, that is a good sign. It shows the Egyptian army caretaker government at least is sticking to the rules that the canal should be open to all ships military and civilian of any country in peacetime.
12. Hi iran, bye iran, blow them up !!
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (02.22.11)
iran is itching to start a war to unite their people. At some point the bully in the school yard needs to be taken down and destroyed. When this happens and the iranian cowards are humiliated, it will be a victory for civilized people against the barbarians.
13. 2 How did you get into the UK with which visa?

14. Suez passage isn't the problem
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.22.11)
The Marvi Marmara showdown will be a mere lark by comparison Any of you Eager Beaver Pro-Palestinian’s, now is the time to book passage on the next Gaza bound convoy, just make your life insurance is paid in advance, though I doubt that your heirs can collect when you expire in a War Zone
15. #6Chris Rettenmoser.WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GERMAN NAVY?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.22.11)
I share your concern, but it seems to me that YOU are in a position to hold YOUR government to account. It was the German Navy that was going to patrol the Lebanon coast to prevent arms smuggling to Hizbollah;this being part of the UNSC resolution 1701 process What happened to that? They don't seem to have been very successful. While your complaining about that, you might also enquiry why your country's police aren't seeking the arrest of Mahmoud Abbas for his part in the 1979 Munich Olympics massacre of Israeli athletes by Fatah terrorists. That occurred in YOUR State. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
16. Israeli Navy uses it too
(02.22.11)
The Israeli navy has been using the Suez Canal since the peace treaty, repositioning her fleet in Eilat etc. This is the first time Iran has used the canal since the 1979 revolution. If Israel can use it, why cant Iran?
17. #15, Ian...Germany is garbage...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (02.22.11)
The Germans are only interestet in selling to the mullahs whatever they want...
18. #17 Muslim dominated UK not much better.
Sabine Mallory ,   Madagascar   (02.22.11)
19. #16 ISRAEL'S AT BOTH ENDS
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.22.11)
There is a big difference between the cases of Israel and Iran Navies using the Suez Canal. For the Israel Navy it's the simple way to sail between one Israel coast and the other. For the Iran Navy it's a simple way to sail from Iran to one or the other of its proxy terrorist states. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
20. Edithann & Split/Schizo
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.22.11)
Don't neglect to book passage on the next flotilla ship, we'll be able to see how really sincere and enthusiastic you two rats are, when we see you jumping overboard trying to reach shore
21. Stop your whinning
Og ,   USA   (02.22.11)
they have as much right as anyone else to cross.
22. Could this be the end of Damascus prophecy ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (02.22.11)
on the horizon ...? Was it Ezekiel or Isaiah? While the entire gaddafi saga is drawing to it's long awaited conclusion with all the world focussing in on Libyans being gunned down every night on the news, Israel has a wonderful opportunity of torpedoeing Iranian ships. The world will thank you for it too.
23. *2 Mahmood and his ilk are empowering the EDL
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (02.22.11)
and deep seated enmity which we British have had since we first smelt the hostility of his ilk walking OUR streets - they hate us and we NEVER wanted only him and his ilk here. Everybody else is welcome - only these hatefilled islamists we don't want and WILL thanks to the actions of the likes of Mahmood and his ilk throw them all out when we have been pushed to that limit. Enjoy the UK mahmood as you ain't staying! Suicide bombers and islamist scum OUT!!!!
24. Coincidence or divine warning?
Heather Czerniak ,   Mississauga, Canada   (02.23.11)
Anyone hear about the 5.9 earthquake that hit the Suez Canal region yesterday? Maybe it's a sign from G-d to warn the Iranians to be on their best behavior while passing through.
25. #2 - that's an odd thing to say...
William ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
is this frigate somehow the next Iranian-claimed superweapon that will "destroy" Israel? Hardly. In Israel, we will collectively fart in the direction of the Iranian ships as this is both their worth and their threat to us. Yawn.
26. #9 - Answer - YES, if they are Gaza-bound
William ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
Especially if its a war ship, heading to Gaza and breaking a war-time blockade is tantamount to declaration of war. Israel could indeed raid the ship if they were suspected of carrying weapons or entering protected space. That's its sovereign right and duty, upheld by Intl maritime law.
27. I suspect this is more than a friendly port call
William ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
especially coming close to the Israeli coast line. For sure, the Iranians are making a very provocative statement and I'm sure the IDF will respond by giving them friendly reminders of where the borders at sea lie. But equally I would bet there is listening posts on the ship gathering intelligence. In my mind, Israel can do two things: 1) send all types of both jamming and false information around and 2) get a nice close look at the ships and test new surveillance equipment on them as they pass. It was generous of the Mullahs to bring the ships to us rather than having us trek all the way to the Persian Gulf.
28. #21 - yes and no
William ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
Only ships which have no military purpose or will cause no war, break UN sanctions, create hostilities will be allowed to pass. If a military ship heads towards Israel will ill-intent and tried to use the Suez Canal, they will be blocked based on the Canal's mandate. That was the whole reason Egypt was attacked by Europe in 1956 over their closing of the Canal. Iran circumvents UN sanctions and arms terrorist groups in attacking a sovereign nation and oppressing people = war crimes. Iran really doesn't have a full-right to traverse the Canal per its mandate.
29. not an Israeli problem
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.23.11)
I expected the ships to stay near Saudi Arabia to help the revolution there, but they came to the Mediterranean. The only reasons for that are to mock the racist fool Obama or to monitor the American navy. In case of war, Israel can easily sink the ships.
30. Astonished?
Robert ,   Brisbane, Australia   (02.23.11)
"Iran's deputy army commander says Israel astonished" ......and a large part of the rest of the world is astonished at the arrogance of Israel trying to deny the transit of these Iranian vessels through the Suez canal. Israel is further alienating themselves with this attitude. Just how low can you go?
