Rami of nAzarethq ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
2. "EU Considers..."
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.23.11)
It's laughable. The whole "union" is a sham of political interests with no vision and no sincere guidelines.

jew from the east   (02.23.11)
If Gaddafi survive and remains in power,it´s only a question of time until the EU comes step by step and kiss his hands
7. Cool....cut off their oil.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.23.11)
Go for it. Obama says that oil is a thing of the past anyways. Let the whole region go up in smoke with Soros...Obama...Google...and Facebook. Since everyone likes to run out and form a mob....what the heck. Anarchy rules.
8. But will EU, especially UK, break sanctions?
William ,   Israel   (02.23.11)
UK has a special interest in the oil industry there, to the point of releasing a terrorists who took the lives of 200+ people. EU has relunctantly joined sanctions against Iran but have been found circumventing them for Leftist agendas and monetary gain, just as they did with Saddam. Will the EU support sanctions on Libya but continue to break them at will? One Libyan described it perfectly - a man in a big house with big windows lives across from a laborer who beats his wife. The rich man sees this but does nothing knowing he sells products to the laborer. The Rich man is EU while Libya is the wife-beater.
9. EU sanctions and UNSC resolution
Jorge el judio ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (02.23.11)
EU sanctions are a joke, he already survived sanctions before. UNSC resolution is another joke just words telling him not to misbehave. UNHRC is watching carefully to condem Israel. ICC still hunting the president of Sudan.
10. The European Union
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.23.11)
It boggles the mind how anyone can think that someone who has ordered his air force to bomb his own people might just be stopped by the threat of -- GASP! -- sanctions. Ghaddafi -- like all the other Arab and Moslem heads of state -- is a multi-billionaire several times over, with assets throughout the world chiefly in places where they cannot be touched. Sanctions, indeed. Oh my! Bet that has Ghaddafi trembling in his sandals. The European Union is seriously out-of-touch with reality. Something Israel has known for quite a while which is kind of why we pay no attention to the E.U.
11. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.23.11)
Well, THAT would surely scare Ghaddafi into immediately surrendering (although one does wonder to whom you think he should turn himself in). Please tell me you did not intend that your comment be taken seriously .....
12. sanctions, embargos, boycotts etc.
cosmopolitist ,   planet earth   (02.23.11)
the eu and the rest of the world should not only sanction khadaffi,(otherwise it is one-sided and hypocrite) but also the other more than 70 present dictators/dictatorships in this world. dictatorships/suppression/exploitation are also flagrant violations of civil and human rights/a crime against mankind/humanity according the un-charter, the universal declaration of human rights and according the constitutions and laws of several organizations and countries, where most of the member-states of the un have signed for and ratified for in order to live up these agreements. this is not meddling in internal affairs of countries. this is protecting people/mankind from suppression/unjustice/poverty etc. so that everybody/the entire mankind is equal for the (international, global, national) law(s). the world/earth is one country and mankind is one people. we are all human with the same human behavior everywhere and always!
13. The EU will do nothing about Gadaffi like they
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (02.23.11)
have famously done nothing. EUropeans won't want to be seen by the world impeaching on Gadaffis human rights. Thats why EUrope is becoming EUrabia with EUrabies. When Gadaffi goes Blair must go down with him and then justice is done - they are partners in heinous crimes!
14. "Give Em Hell"
Noah Lev ,   hollywoodUSA   (02.24.11)
I am no fan of him, ( didnt he invite all Libyan Jews back, recently). He also, unlike Iran, gave up his nuke goals. But I have a solution. Get rid of him and ship the Palestinians across Egypt to his country..it has 600,000 square miles of land, and lots of oil wealth. Or Egypt could annex the Eastern half, (shades of Palestine) where the oil is..and use it for the population,,before the Muslim Brotherhood takes over..and sends tanks to the Negev. To Israel: arm your nukes, all 500, just in case. Target the Aswan Dam..and Tripoli, also the oil fields. As Truman said, "Give em hell".
15. Did the toothless tiger move slightly?
Cameron ,   USA   (02.24.11)
Did you hear it mumble something?
16. Gaddafi and Ahmadinejad should be hung together
Talula ,   Israel   (02.24.11)
It's the right thing to do. They are evil sick power-crazed dictators.
17. #8 William UK? PROBABLY NOT
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.24.11)
William is being a bit harsh.Britain has a good record of maintaining sanctions even at the expense of its own economy. It infuriates British people when they see the sacrifices that they're making being used as opportunities by other EU countries,China,Russia and Japan. But this begs the question of what the sanctions should be.Libya is not that similar to Iran and Iraq.As bad as it is internally,it poses little if any threat to the rest of the world.Sanctions can be well targeted to degrade the regimes ability to repress the population(arms embargo, financial restrictions) while not damaging the civil economy and foreign interests. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that the Libyans whom I've met in Britain are amiable people and easy to got on with, genuinely charitable and open handed.Their one big hang-up is their regime which they detest. They seem a lot different to Arabs and other North Africans. It could well be that these are people with whom Israel could deal with on a friendly basis. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
