1. There are wise Rabbanim too !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.27.11)
Those who wrote this "manifesto" are . They at least know that a convinced rapist can't be excused .
2. Law is based on Jewish law?
Ephraim   (02.27.11)
Since when? It's based on British common law.
3. If he forced any of the women....
(02.27.11)
Then he owes them a sum of money, like what a divorced wife might get. If any of them were married he should be executed. Too bad we don't live by the Torah where more than one wife is permitted. Then justice would be done.
4. #1 They are wise when it agrees with......
(02.27.11)
your twisted thinking? Those rabbis still believe in a supreme being remember?
5. No shortage of disgusting people, both secular and religious
Brian ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.28.11)
Our challenge is to confront all of the disgusting people in this country, be they secular or religious. Turning rabbis from their evil ways is often a harder job than turning a secular into a religious believer. The rabbis like Tau, Aviner and Hager I have only one remark: Katsav admitted to extra-marital sex, which is a serious crime against Hashem, let alone Mrs. Katsav. The Torah is very clear that it is not permitted and is a sin, yet you rabbis are telling us that it is ok. The shame these rabbis bring to Judaism only makes one wonder why the Chief Rabbis don't step in and fire these who hold public positions immediately. Therein lies the rot of the religious world - the "leaders" are silent and powerless in the face of rabbis who actually spit on halacha. Makes you think that we have something in common with radical Islam.
6. Everyone , even rabbanim , can have a wise reaction
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.28.11)
This had to be the heading of my # 1 . I have even read some time ago a NOT hatefull words from a religious person about gays .
7. 5 Brian With non married women...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.28.11)
having relations, is not really forbidden .
8. to#7 Don't you feel ashamed? Rape is NOT '' having relation'
rachel ,   galut   (03.01.11)
And even though sexual liason with unmarried woman is not considered adultery, point of the matter is hardly there. Point is that Katsav is CONVICTED RAPIST.
9. B"H some sanity
David ,   Israel   (03.02.11)
Why the first group of Rabbis felt the need to get involved at this stage is beyond me. But B"H this group of rabbis show that the first group did not speak on behalf of religion just themselves.
