again, you put j street web site here for all to read. fine and dandy. but, it only says what they believe in. however their actions since they began their ill fated operation, their actions and actions alone, do not follow what hey say they are in their web site. actions speak louder than words and j street action is completely and despicably the opposite of their blah blah on their web site. dr. vincent perry, phd. adjunct, department of history stanford university

Hal Stein   (02.28.11)
#19. In all your verbiage you failed to refute one fact in the Edelstein article. That tells me all I need to know about you. You and your colleagues in the JStreet/Peace Now movement are prepared to sacrifice Israel's integrity. The Arabs want to see Israel disappear. Until they change, there can be no peace.
34. #19 dangerous hypocrisy
Ibrahim el Awal ,   Dearborn Michigan   (02.28.11)
As an observer I was always amazed at organizations such as J Street , Jewish Voice for peace and Israeli similar organizations. As if they did not know the brutality and dictatorship in Egypt, Gaza, Iran, Libya and alike. They did not wisper when 64 Iranian dissidents were hanged in Tehran this year (2011). Even now when the volcano errupted in the Arab street still these organization view Israel doings through a microscope,"perhaps we can find a crime" they say. But what about the Arab street? What about 67% of Arabs in Jerusalem who prefer Israel over Palestine? About the villages of Baka Al Garbia that Livni wanted to exchange for settlements and they strongly refused? Yes, Israel is not perfect, but ask the Arab illegals in Israel if they want to be deported to Palestine? Ask Israeli Arabs if they want Palestine? Confidentially they will tell you how much better off they are in Israel compared to any Arab state! So, J Street and JVFP, JVFJ and alike are decadent organizations that even Arabs do not respect. In Islamic society Ben Ami would have been given a fatwa.....
35. Vintage NGO Monitor Smear

Misleading character assassination, which says more about NGO Monitor than it does about J Street.

42. #3 Steve Ahoy - NEVER heard of the10-month FREEZE?
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (02.28.11)
Abbas says that PEACE is more important THAN settlements. Yet he REFUSES to talk about peace during the 10-month FREEZE until it is almost over, and then DEMANDS an extension WITHOUT any commitment that the palis will actually engage in the talks. Just goes to SHOW that your "Stop the damn settlements" is NOTHING more than just PIFFLE.

please write a coherent message - one that we cvan understand, What does 'Get of your settlements' mean? Does it mean we live in a settlement and we should leave? Does it mean you are telling Israelis to get out of their settlements? - which i absolutely support. Or is this another example of using your true thinking parts?

J Street does not use attack scare tactics like other organizations. All the organization does is help achieve a peace deal. I'm not sure what attacks you are speaking of. Meaninglessly using alarmist terms like "genocide," "terrorism," and "anti-Semitic" does not help anyone.
48. McCarthy
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.28.11)
I'm a proud Israeli Zionist supporter of J Street. I abhor Jewish McCarthyism that the writer of the editorial represents.
49. Tzipi Livni in her stsark ignorance and some cof her cohorts
Jerry ,   USA   (02.28.11)
Tzipi Livni in her stsark ignorance and some cof her cohorts legitmize JStreet. So do two members of the Labor party who accepted JStreet invitation- anything for these free loaders as long as someone is willing to pay their trip!

What actions are speaking of? This article clearly shows how a little spinning can just misrepresent reality - if there is anything close to that anymore. As we speak, Dennis Ross, American Diplomat under Bush I, is speaking at the J Street conference. Would you deem him as anti-Israel and anti-peace? All I am saying is do your homework before you make any judgments.
51. J Street is plain evil.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.28.11)
J Street is not pro-Israel at all. It is riddled with Jew haters and terrorist sympathizers. It's chief supporter, George Soros, is a well known Jew and Israel hater with a disgusting past, to put it politely. J Street is plain evil. It has no legitimate place among Jewish and Israeli organizations anywhere in the world.
52. Israelis would do better to look at themselves
Dovid ,   Los Angeles   (02.28.11)
Instead of slandering well-meaning supporters of Israel with lies and insults, Israelis would do a lot better to look at what sort of racists and fascists are in its own government and on it's own state payroll. Including people whose encouragement to commit racist murder is on the record and well-documented. Personally, I think that the J Street folks are naive. They need to stop supporting this horrible country that is getting worse by the day, and which only insults and abuses them for being nice enough and Jewish enough to spend time trying to help and make the "Jewish" state a better place. Since this is their attitude, let Israelis take care of themselves. We don't need to provide them with the fig leaf of undeserved American Jewish moral support, when the show more interest in their Right-Wing Christian evangelical "supporters." I'm tired of giving them my tax dollars, only to get "the finger" in return, and with the added chutzpah that they claim to be the "true" representives of the Jewish People.
53. J Street pro-peace?
Larry Snider ,   Bensalem, PA USA   (03.01.11)
Dear Mr Edelstein, There is little doubt that J Street has both swept onto the political stage and made its share of mistakes along the way. However, I don't believe it is necessary to take loyalty oaths at the door or to limit conversation only to those who believe in the future of Israel just as you or I do. While you named a few fringe speakers the 2011 convention is made up mainly of hundreds of left leaning supporters of Israel who continue to believe in a two state solution. I think with all the revolutionary furor that is running through North Africa and the Middle East it is past time to make room for many voices right, left, center and even the extremes to search together for a peace that will provide both security and prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
54. #19
R ,   Israel   (03.01.11)
I read most of your "myths and facts" publication. Thank you for providing it. I feel that the entry on operation Cast Lead is misleading. You say you understand it, and then you say it is the wrong way to go. Since Cast Lead, Israeli civilians within the range of Hamas missles are not having to run to shelters several times a day. I don't know what is in your hearts, but I think your methods are misguided. We are the ones who must live with the results.
55. 52 Dovid
R ,   Israel   (03.01.11)
You state that you're "trying to help and make the "Jewish" state a better place" - that and waving your tax dollars in our face -- how do you expect us to listen to you when you are so condescending?
56. Good enough for Nachman Shai - Barghouti wasn't there
Pinhas Bayit ,   Bet HaKerem   (03.01.11)
Nachman Shal Kadima MK was at the J Street conference and said:"I was in many conferences of U.S. Jews - and there were always panels about social issues, poverty and philanthropy and aliyah, trying to push the political issues aside. And here you've got over 2,000 people, many young people, who are discussing the core political problems of Israel. I think it was a big mistake for the Israeli Embassy to shun this conference. Over 2,000 people, it's a serious event - how can you miss an opportunity to address them? I am really impressed by these young people, who are striving to know more, to be involved - while the Jewish Federations are strug gling to keep young people involved. I didn't agree with many things they said and made my opinion clear, but it was very refreshing." Barghouti wasn't at the conference - and as with so much other Biyuv poured out about J Street in these Talkbacks, it isn't very accurate. What this all indicates is that those many outrageous commenrts are from people who are not interested in peace in any shape or form. These are people who believe that we can just carry on as we are, unaccountable for our actions and very parochial in attitudes to our region. We are permanent victims and simultaneously have the most power military force in the region. We can't be both.
57. J Street conference was much stronger
Stu ,   Washington, DC   (03.02.11)
J Street conference was much stronger than in 2009: 50% more people attended, and 60 members of Congress attended its dinner, 1/3 more than in 2009. J Street is the wave of the future of the American Jewish community. Israelis will have to choose between current policies and losing that community
58. exellent article- a MUST READ!
nadav ,   tel aviv   (03.03.11)
i think this article once and for all buries any idea that J-street is anything but pro-israel and zionist. I think Ben Ami should apologize for this organization's existence, shut it down, and give people back their donations (except Soros'!). Enough Jews and non-Jews have been duped by J-Street - who have seized on the hate mongering against Israel by Arabists, Islamists, and the far radical Left - to create an unholy coalition of anti-Israel forces.
