1. Manslaughter Charge for Jerusalem Teen
Nili   (02.27.11)
This is the inevitable result when too many bad things are put together. Jews are dragged from their homes, synagogues sealed, pregnant women murdered in cold blood and the world is silent. Now when it's the reverse wait for the screams. That this boy was killed is an outrage and justice needs to be served--but until the PC world realizes that there are 2 sides to every conflict I fear things will only get worse.
2. Teenagers?? so where's B'Tselem
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (02.27.11)
While this should never have happened, and most of us are really pleased to see the police doing their jobs, where is B'Tselem? These are, after all, only teenagers. If it were the other way round, Arab teens arrested for killing a Jew, they'd be all over the place.
3. Let's switch the scenario
Ahmad ,   Jerusalem   (02.27.11)
The victim is Jewish. The killer is an Arab and three other attackers are Arabs. I would like to know how this would play out?
4. Since we're becoming more and more like our enemies...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.27.11)
...maybe it's time we think about joining them. Maybe then we'll have some peace and all get to live in Israel/Palestine. :^(
5. Don't really know the whole story
Yosi ,   Gilo   (02.27.11)
First, it was 2am, when the most intollerent kids are out and about. The arabs are constantly insulting and cursing everyone on the buses and on the streets, and more so at this time. My wife and I understand all their curses but try to ignore them. At this point, as one of the other talkbacks said, these kids were fed up with the arabs always doing this and it probably came to a boil here. Ahmad, how often do your people curse us and wish us death, inside and outside of Israel. How often have they raped our women, killed our men, in Morroco, Libya, Yemen, Egypt....? need I go on? Where is our justice with your murderous culture?
6. Introduce a Razor...it is no longer a Quarrel
Craig ,   L.A., USA   (02.27.11)
Very very sad to hear of this. I understand the resentment at the double standard which much of the world displays....but how does that justify allowing a miscarriage of justice in this specific incident. Is this being reported correctly? Four against two....then one Israeli pulls out a razor and slashes someone, apparently multiple times, with it? Don't you Israelis understand that you have to rise above the tactics of the Islamics...how can you justify this perpetrator being charged with only manslaughter? If the two Arabs had attacked the Israelis, that would be different...but apparently that isn't what is being reported. What a tragedy for everyone, especially the Arab who lost his life, and his family...but to attempt to sweep this under the rug, in a sense, is unjust and will likely only lead to some type of retribution on innocent Israelis. Maybe their are mitigating circumstances I am unaware of...but when an attacker pulls out a razor - it isn't just a quarrel...that is deadly escalation of an incident which apparently the Israeli teens starte4d in the first place. BTW...I am pro-Jew all the way, but I also know right from wrong - no good will come from this.
7. Ahmad - here is the alternate scenario
Brian ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.27.11)
The victim is Jewish, the killer is Arab and the attackers all flee to areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority. They are not arrested, not brought to trial. They are protected by the PA. In fact, the PA is paying pension money to the family of the killer's cousin who was a suicide bomber. The PA also pays for printing and distributing the hero posters of the killer's cousin, who killed a dozen Jews in a suicide bombing on a passenger bus. When Jews call for the extradition of the killer and his accomplices, there is an outcry from "human rights" groups that the "alleged" killer would never get a fair trial in Israel. The "human rights" groups all issue a single statement that the PA should arrest the attackers, and then they drop the issue and never raise it again. The killer and attackers are hired by the Palestinian preventive security services. There's your scenario, Ahmad. Comments?
8. obeying the Rabbis
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.27.11)
All they were doing was to act in accordance with the incitement of certain Rabbis....
9. sad
alsky ,   toronto   (02.27.11)
it doesnt matter if the victim was jewish or arab. Murder is wrong- plain and simple. My condolences to the victims family
10. #5 - Yosi
Craig ,   L.A., USA   (02.27.11)
I have had a chance to discuss this incident...and agree that possibly the whole story is not being reported. Upon reflection, it isn't exactly clear who threw the first punch...it is possible that the youth with the razor was acting to defend his mates who were attacked first. The story doesn't read this way, but of course it is possible that things went down a bit differently than it is portrayed. The deceased Arab is an adult and looks to be a pretty tough individual, so I can see scenarios where it might be legit to charge the killer with manslaughter vs. murder. It is also possible that the prosecutor wished to charge the defendant with murder, but knew a jury would never convict...so he was forced to use the lesser charge or risk the accused walking free without any punishment.
11. IM sure the Arabs did zilch to get into a fight. Handing out
Observer ,   Earth   (02.27.11)
roses and cauliflower maybe? Anyone who lives in the area know that Jews are justly concerned about walking through an arab town, because history shows that 99% of the time they are in mortal danger, whereas jewish towns the past few years are seeing a huge influx of young arab men staring down Jewish women like they never would arab women, and being loud, abrasive, saying racial slurs against Jews. Im surpised (sort of) ynet didnt speak about the other sides p.o.w.
12. #10 is right
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (02.27.11)
Choosing manslaughter vs. murder: It happens all the time here in Los Angeles and the USA. It's the evidence that counts; it's what will stand up in court. It brings no comfort to the family of the victim, but they are not alone. This boy could walk if the charge of murder is not proved and he cannot be tried for the same crime twice.
13. #8
Danny   (02.27.11)
Which rabbis told them to tool up, get drunk and pick a fight?
14. # 8
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.27.11)
Put the money where your mouth is & give us proof of what you say. You do realize dont you that you are committing incitement here (against the Rabbis)
15. #7.....sad but true
Craig ,   L.A., USA   (02.28.11)
What a terrible state of affairs...my heart aches for you Israelis. All I know for certain is that your God will not be silent forever. God Bless Israel...God Bless His people the Jews.
16. has yosi failed to notice peaceful uprising in MENA?
sara ,   london   (02.28.11)
Have you not just been watching the peaceful uprising across the Middle East and North Africa? Do you not think that perhaps you may need to alter your narrative of the inherently violent Arabs that allegedly rape, murder and pillage? Where is this murderous Arab culture now? People want their rights, and they want equality, why not try treating each other as equal and perhaps then you will notice the cursing stops. This hypocrisy and false narrative has to stop it's disgusting, tiring and really old - and it's going to run out of fuel soon just like all these dictators have run out of fuel.
