I am a soldier in the US army, I liked one peice of land near the one of the nice parks not far from the river, I was surprised because when I started to build a home the police complained that this is not my land, I told them I am a soldier, and rightaway the agreed and left me alone,,,, it is good to be a soldier!!! you can steal any thing...

Israel is a country of law and order. Being a combat soldier doesn't permit you to built a shack on land that is not yours because G-d said the land belongs to the Jews. I served as a conscript and reservist with pride, even though sometimes I felt a bit like a sucker as I saw fit people forwarding their careers rather then serving and protecting the country. I never assumed it gave me the right to break the law.

Been to Israel over 30 times until Olmert got into power.Then I stopped going that was my protest of having a Nixon style crook in the government.
