1. "not to mix political issues with their service"
Amihai ,   Yesha   (03.01.11)
Please, tell this to the big boss of tsahal, a minister named barak.
2. IDF Destroying soldier's Home
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (03.01.11)
THIS is a disgrace!!! The IDF ought to hide itself in shame what it did to one of its own!!! I don't blame the man one bit. The IDF destroys one of its' soldier's home and accuses HIM of "playing politics"!!!??? It's about time that someone puts a stop to this kind of thing!!!
3. Army of Thieves
Carla ,   NYC   (03.01.11)

5. #2 Savannah is a nice city!
Dave ,   Washington, DC   (03.01.11)
I am a soldier in the US army, I liked one peice of land near the one of the nice parks not far from the river, I was surprised because when I started to build a home the police complained that this is not my land, I told them I am a soldier, and rightaway the agreed and left me alone,,,, it is good to be a soldier!!! you can steal any thing...
6. IDF destroys soldier's "house".
Mark Wiseman ,   Detroit USA   (03.01.11)
Israel is a country of law and order. Being a combat soldier doesn't permit you to built a shack on land that is not yours because G-d said the land belongs to the Jews. If that were allowed, I would start work on my beachhouse on a public beach in Rishon Lezion tomorrow. It's sad a that a soldier needs to live in a home-made shed that the wind could blow down. I admire his determination, but he is misguided and has no right to do what he did.
7. IDF Combat Soldier Weisman DO NOT GO AWOL!
EBR ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.11)
Soldier Weisman you have a responsibility to the uniform you wear and to the nation you protect and defend. Despite my ability to understand your pain I will not personalize this nor will I go into the politics of this situation all I will do is remind you of the oath/affirmation you took when you put on the IDF uniform. That oath/affirmation is translated from Hebrew is: "I swear, affirm and promise upon my word of honor to be faithful to the State of Israel, to her laws, and to her authorized institutions: To unconditionally take upon myself the yoke of Israel Defense Force discipline To obey all orders and commands given by authorized officers To dedicate all of my strength even unto sacrificing my life for the defense of the Homeland and the freedom of Israel"
8. Neither Jabotinski Nor Begin would agree....
AmiKam ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.11)
with TBers 1- 4. and if you don't believe me well then go have a serious look at: Jabotinski's writings particularly the period when he was in a british jail in the mid-1920s in Jerusalem and P.M. Mr. Begin's orders regarding a settlement called Yamit! (amongst others) So please TBers 1-4 do go learn Israeli history (all of it) before having spontaneous explosions of verbal sewage!

Sounds like something ehud barak would say. Afterall he is a puppet of the united states.
16. Bad for Israel
Brod ,   USA   (03.01.11)
External entities are trying to undermine Israel by manipulating their Leftist tools in Israel's government to commit horrible acts like this to their own people living in their own liberated historic homeland of Judea and Samaria-Land of Israel. If the leaders can't stand the heat in the kitchen (external pressures) exerted by the world of dark force-AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists, they should resign. The leaders' responsibility is to protect and defend the nation of Israel-the Land of Israel and not be a tool of external forces trying to cleanse Jews living in their own GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED LIBERATED Historic Homeland of Judea and Samaria-Land of Israel. Israel needs strong young leaders who know the Land of Israel and the GOD of Israel. The changing face in the Arab Islamist-Jihadist world in the Middle East is not about Jeffersonian Democracy. It is unleashing the fanatical tide of Islamist-JIhadism with the Muslim Brotherhood leading the wave and with funding from their counterpart-the fanatical Ayatollahists. It is all about theocratic, Caliphatic government. Those who do not know this, pretend that they don't, and are willing participants to the harbinger of the triumphal return of a Caliphate, and the demise of Western Civilization. The West must wake up before it is too late. To save America and avert the erosion of America's national security in the region and around the world, and to defend America's true friends and allies, Congress needs to start an impeachment proceeding to remove Obama from office. This is not to say Biden is less anti-Israel. The fact is Biden is Papist AntiSemite who worships his god in Rome. Papism is the inventor of AntiSemitism. There should be election after the impeachment has been made.
17. #4
Brod ,   USA   (03.01.11)
If Barak and Gantz commtted this, Bibi has made a terrible mistake of allowing his government to begin the process of implosion. This may be the precursor of their political downfall.
18. DISGUSTING
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (03.01.11)
19. Question:...
PO ,   Ramat Gan, IL   (03.01.11)
...is someone allowed to infringe the law of his own country, and build an abusive outpost, only because is serving his own country ARMY? I guess: the hell NO! Anyway, if religious people do not want to serve IDF, and build homes outside Israel, they can always ask Palestinian citizenship...
20. Sucker
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (03.01.11)
I served as a conscript and reservist with pride, even though sometimes I felt a bit like a sucker as I saw fit people forwarding their careers rather then serving and protecting the country. I never assumed it gave me the right to break the law.
21. Illegal Setlers in the IDF
Alex   (03.01.11)
How can Israel and the IDF regain any world credibility when some of the conscripts live in illegal settlements - that's not just politically naive, but downright stupid.
22. Weisman, why do you think they sent you on a combat mission?
Charles   (03.01.11)
Just so that they can destroy your home. Why do you think haredim do not serve in this army? Just because they'd have to destroy Jewish homes.
23. what is the problem?
jlemm   (03.01.11)
he build the house illegally and now the law has caught up with him. since when does serving in the army exempt one from obeying the law?
24. not my Israel anymore
Jerry ,   toronto canada   (03.01.11)
Been to Israel over 30 times until Olmert got into power. Then I stopped going that was my protest of having a Nixon style crook in the government. When BB got into power I came back this year but after 30 years of coming I will be boycotting Israel once again. An innocent soldiers house destroyed while helping the country is obscene. Even the Arabs wouldnt do that to one of their own. What has happened to my beloved ISRAEL. It has become a land of dog eat dog with no morals
25. If you live in an outpost...
David G   (03.01.11)
You are knowingly and willingly talking a risk that your house will be torn down because it was built against Israeli law! Being in the army does not let you break the law, nor should that shock you. If you want to live in an outpost fine, I don't care, but dont be surprised when these things happen. You chose to live there.

this is what comes in my mind when I read such news.
