1. Best wishes for a happy future...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.02.11)
with a fine wife and plenty of joyful children ,to this great guy.
2. Arabs whose origin is from Palestinian
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.02.11)
roots fulminate against Israel but here is just one of the differences between them and us: Our history and our myths (whether entirely accurate or not) are so powerful that even older Jews like our new soldier written about in this article, people already successful in their part of the diaspora, are willing to give up such success in order to contribute to our society and Eretz Yisrael. This compelling need, which so many Jews have already acted upon, keeps us fresh and re-invigorated. On the other hand, what intact myth and history is there for Arabs to give up their good life in Canada or the USA or western Europe to return to the land of their forefathers? Apparently, given its rarity, even the Nakba, the only historical event which may have lodged in their (Palestinian Arabs) collective memory, is not nearly powerful enough to invigorate their passion and return to the mideast in order to contribute to the growth and renaissance of a society of Palestinian Arabs. Reading news from various publications and concommitant Talkbacks, especially Maan News, demonstarates how the western world is infused with so many armchair "patriots" but how few will take the risks and sacrifices required to return, establish and build a society. In general, just like Arab rhetoric, it is all windbag talk.
3. hes not the oldest
Dan ,   Hertzelia   (03.02.11)
i was in michve alon in 2007 and i met an older recruit from NY who was 44 i believe.
4. @2 are you stupid or are you pretending to be that stupid?
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.02.11)
talk about windbag ...ha. Robert listen, My uncle is a businessman living in Canada, he comes between now and then to Ramallah, do you know the difficulties he endured at the airport, do you know that the "Israelis" watched his breath and movements wherever he went, Palestinian investors in diaspora are really brave, because investment in an environment that is always ready to return to the cycle of violence is a significant risk. There are millions of Palestinians who yearn for a return to Palestine to contribute to building a modern Palestine state, but the only obstacle to them Mr. Robert is "Israel". Ynet editor, Why don't you let Robert prove me wrong ?! You have no confidence in him, so why you ignor my posts ?! not nice indeed : (
5. oldest recruit in army
ray ,   Zutrich Switzerland   (03.02.11)
I believe I was 38 years old when I got my call up papers for the Israeli army
6. Salma really is that stupid
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.02.11)
Salma, everything that you do, think, and believe comes from plagiarizing the Jewish experience in the Holy Land. You even co-opt the language and the history. There was no "Palestinian" identity before 1964 and no "Palestinian" history before 1948. Everything is just a reaction to what the Jews say and do. Face it, without Zionism you are nothing.
7. May I count, how many Haredim and mishtamtim does he offset?
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.02.11)
8. Looks like I hit a delicate nerve, Salma:
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.02.11)
You do not deal with the substance of my tract, the lack of history amongst Palestinian Arabs, the lack of a unique culture and the lack of powerful myths short of (possibly) the Nakba. Other than that, your statement that there are "millions" of Palestinian Arabs wishing to "return" to "Palestine" is all rhetoric. On Maan, an occasional Talkbacker by the name of Khadr, actually did return along with his family in order to help build a new entity. He is absolutely unique. The main body of Talkbackers there are just armchair "patriots", not unlike you. And as to your grievance that Ynet doesn't allow you responses, why that is just hogwash. As you know, there is nothing comparable to the freedom allowed on Ynet and other Jewish Israeli publications in the Arab world. Most of all, I am sick of the whining of people like you who do not, and continue to refuse to, take responsibility for your own failures. Like typical adolescents, the problem is always someone or something else's fault, usually Israel and its institutions. Given that you must be an adult, Salma, it appears that it is too late for you to take on a responsible and mature attitude. I see that you're responding on Maan now; Maan is, in fact, the proper venue for you, it being full of excuse makers and self-pitying whimperers like you.
9. #8 Truth Not rhetoric,
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.02.11)
If you don't try, you will never know result . Robert Let "Israel" say loud and clear that it will allow every Palestinian wants to return to the West Bank in order to build a state of Palestine and it will not hinder his movements, and let's see who will win, me or you? deal I can't deny that there is good freedom of expression in Ynet, but through my own experience, but even here I suffer from a very tight censorship : ( Robert , What's your problem with Maan patriots? all my respect for them. The words and ideas are also weapons.
10. ORA, He is hiloni, did you notice?May refuse to pay a shdhnit
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.02.11)
11. 10 Michael Father of the bride will pay.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.02.11)
12. ORA, is this why they say ...
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.02.11)
"thank you for not making me a woman"? What does the father of the bride say? Maybe "thank you for taking her off my hands"? I read somewhere that Haredim parents buy on the average 3.5 apartments for their children. On top of the shadhanit fees? It's getting tough to survive.
13. 12 Michael
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.02.11)
After sayng every day :"thank you for not making me a woman" , one forgets about gay life style. My children are Haredi.I know this society from inside. They have a tough life, but their strong believe in G-D ,and the Tora - giving them such a fantastic inner joy, love and strength- enable them to achieve the most difficult tasks. Be successful,Michael.
14. #13, Birds r happy flying from tree to tree.Ignrnt but happy
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.03.11)
15. #8 Salma, let's put the shoe on your foot
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.03.11)
Let the Arabs return the land and possessions that the Jew were forced to leave behind when they fled the Arab lands because of their being persecuted your kinsmen Let's just call it what it really is, population & land exchange We’re being more than generous, since the land never belonged to you in the first place, Which you, yourself proved by refusing to answer the question I posed, that if had they been answered, your have proven you were entitled to your claim
16. 14Michael Birds are only ignorant of ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.03.11)
what they do not know.So are we.Do we know birds language,do we find our way from one country to the other without maps and other help, can we tell in advance earthquakes only with our senses etc.?The worst ignorance is to reject others knowledge.Sayng that,i don t have you in mind.Having read some of your TBs,i think you are a smart and openminded guy.Have a fine day,Michael.
