1. Sorry Ace, but...
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (03.02.11)
Israel's Security forces EXIST for the one single and narrowly directed purpose; the SECURITY and PROTECTION of Israel and Israelis and what other Jews may be within the protective reach of those forces. Absent any such existential threat; use of force, other than passive domestic police standard of minimal force against the specific protected class, particularly agressive and elevated physical force, when no threat of deadly force is directed against the "security forces", is unwarranted, excessive, morally indefensible and defys the sound and good order of the state and it's protection of it's citizens. Too many persons in the political echelon of Israel's notion of government are not quite clear on the concept of protection of the citizens and democracy at large. Careful Adon Aharonovitch. Careful. Uprisings are touchy things. Don't pee off the smart folks. They can make one's **political life** very short indeed,
2. "concrete threat"
dirty shirt ,   usa   (03.02.11)
"violence that included, curses and threats" Since when has verbal "curses/threats" become justification for use of overwhelming brute force.
3. Shooting out the mouth gets you rubber bullets
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.02.11)
Now that is really lowering the standard for the police. I guess that is just an admission that they sent in thugs.
4. Mr. Aharonovitch
Daniel Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (03.02.11)
You were elected to defend your parties ideology and not to defend Dudu Cohen, you are a traitor to the people who voted you (indirectly of course, they wouldn't vote you) Please take a look at yourself at the mirror and deny that you are ashamed!
5. fair enough
m ,   jeru   (03.02.11)
this shouldnt be an issue of jews shooting at jews this is purely a crowd dispersing effort !!! in england after a football match the hooligans riot and the police respond with tear gas and other types of projectiles. these plastic bubbles though sound a lot better than rubber bullets don't you think? there are different political ways to get your point across thats why the israeli government like any government around the world use the same tactics and tecniques to disperse a crowd this situation is similar to many protests that have occured all around the world. The settlers should appeal to the supreme court and receive a fair hearing. but everytime they endanger the lives of israeli police officers and soldiers who also have families they should be dealt with in the same way. And they should pray to god for their luck that the israeli security forces didn't use rubber bullets or live amunition like on the palestinians
6. The very bright Mr Aharonovitch
David ,   On this planet   (03.02.11)
I guess he expects the owner of the home he destroys to stand and smile.... Yeah.... you will get some resistance, there is no need to shoot at them. When they get in your face use pepper spray, You are required to act as a human towards your own people This is not Libya or Iran, shame on the police and the government
7. who attacked who?
Daniel Friedman ,   Tel-Aviv   (03.02.11)
It appears to me that it was the police and army that attacked Israeli Jewish citizens and not the other way around. This is a shame upon the Jewish State. We have yet to see the same from our police toward the Arabs Settlers, it is about time we have 'equal' justice in this Jewish State.
8. THE TRUE STORY
(03.02.11)
No Evidence of Rock Throwing, but Police Defend Shooting Jews Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitch on Wednesday told the Knesset that police were justified in shooting plastic bullets during the Gilad Farm (Chavat Gilad) demolitions Tuesday, but neither he nor the police offered any photo evidence that the residents attacked police. The veracity of the police was immediately disproven several hours after the pre-dawn raid on Chavat Gilad, where 15 people were wounded by what were at first thought to have been rubber bullets. The police said on public radio that the police fired nothing other than paintball guns, but later in the day they admitted that plastic bullets were fired. Mainstream media in Israel have virtually accepted police claims without question and have not commented about the lack of evidence of violence on the part of residents at Chavat Gilad. Defense Minister Ehud Barak justified the shooting, charging that Chavat Gilad residents attacked law enforcement with officers with massive stone throwing. However, one of the residents at the demolitions said he saw police with several cameras during the clash, and no photographs have been produced showing rock throwing. The victims of the police violence said no rocks were thrown and that the police shot at random without any provocation. “There was no danger to the police, and I am stating as a fact that the shooting was intended to punish people, according to a decision by the Defense Minister,” Ehud Barak, said National Union Knesset Member Uri Ariel at a press conference. In previous demolitions at Bedouin and Arab villages, police have been confronted by documented violence but never used the weapons employed at Chavat Gilad on Tuesday. MK Ariel rejected Aharonovitch’s acceptance of the police version of the incident that "only" 11 bullets were fired. "There are police and officers who are lying,” the Knesset Member said. He intends to launch a parliamentary investigation next week. Orit Struck, Chairman of Human Rights in Judea, demanded that “the Minister disclose the films taken by police officers. A few films taken by settlers prove the exact opposite." Nationalists are planning a “Day of Rage,” possibly including massive sit-ins at various places around the country, but the first act of “revenge” came Wednesday morning with rebuilding at Chavat Gilad. "Our revenge will be to build twice the number of homes that were destroyed," resident Ilana Shimon told the French news agency AFP.
9. Let em have it !!
Avi ,   Israel   (03.02.11)
Ah the poor settlers now they claim to be the victims. How pathetic are they, i say they deserve what they get, let em have , well done to our brave security forces in dealing with thosed thugs.
10. Yitzchak Aharonovitch is a lier
Laurence Bentolila ,   Givatayim, Israel   (03.02.11)
Police officers came at 4.30 am , everybody was sleeping in the outpost. The "settlers" were absolutly not constituing a threat. Police oifficers arrived in the middle of the night and surprised the inhabitants. The victims of the police violence said no rocks were thrown and that the police shot at random without any provocation. The police came with camera if there were rock throwing they would have produced video. Orit Struck, Chairman of Human Rights in Judea, demanded that “the Minister disclose the films taken by police officers. A few films taken by settlers prove the exact opposite." MK Ariel rejected Aharonovitch’s acceptance of the police version of the incident that "only" 11 bullets were fired. "There are police and officers who are lying,” the Knesset Member said. In previous demolitions at Bedouin and Arab villages, police have been confronted by documented violence but never used the weapons employed at Chavat Gilad on Tuesday.

As My son that served in the army said, pay atttention who hit the settlers.... they are usually the jews from middle east descendent.. in other words charchahim... they no better than the arabushim. But give them some arabs to fight and they will buckle... they are weak... Avi .. this is for you too, weak as a piss
12. Only one problem with his story
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.02.11)
There is only one problem with Aharonovitch's story: it is not true. The video recordings of the event prove that there was no massive stone throwing and no danger to the YSM officers.
13. What a farce!
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.02.11)
Netanyahu's government encourags settlement in the Palestinian WB, and then denounces the settlers who refuse to evacuate their places. Mr. Aharonovitch, If you don't enter into the water ,you will never get wet.
14. Settlers are zionist gangsters from NY, Miami, and LA
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas, nevada   (03.02.11)
I hope the israeli police lock these creatures up for good. Settlers have no place in the west bank or east jerusalem!
15. well maybe, as a last resort, use rubber bullets
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (03.02.11)
but other reports have the "settlers" shot in the back????
16. to nr. 14.
globalist ,   planet earth   (03.02.11)
you are absolutely right. the settlers can better go to the negev or to another area where they are welcome.
17. Lessons from Adama
blash ,   Jerusalem   (03.02.11)
"There's a reason we separate military and the police: one fights the enemy of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." Using the IDF to destroy the homes of Israeli Jews is flat out WRONG. Any MK's who fail to realize this will get booted out in the next Knesset elections.

20. #14 You are NOT a Christian!
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (03.02.11)
If Jesus had been born in this time period, whilst still in his mother's womb, he and his family would have been targeted for murder by the Islamo Nazis, for being a Jew living in his homeland of Israel.
21. Police Made Vicious, Violent Attack on Hated Jewish Infidels
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (03.02.11)
Who will protect Jews from Israel's police? Utterly horrifying. The police hate Jews as much as Muslim terrorists hate Jews. israelnationalnews: 'The Policeman Fired a Burst at Me, I was Full of Blood' Elyasaf Guri, who was wounded at Havat Gilad, told Arutz Sheva from his hospital bed at Shaarei Tzedek hospital: "[The police] walked in a straight row and simply started firing on us. We started running away and they continued." "They shot at us though we had done nothing. They fired at close range. The policeman ran to me and fired a burst at me. In the hands, the legs, and the back. I was full of blood." "They entered the synagogue in order to shoot. [The bullets] hit the floor. We couldn't move, everyone understood things had gotten out of control and then they threw a [stun] grenade at the synagogue. We felt helpless." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/142594
22. during the razing of illegal structures?
observer ,   Egypt   (03.02.11)
settlers are not structures, but creatures.
23. Razing Jewish buildings is racist and criminal.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.02.11)
Thre may be controversy over the supposed danger faced by security forces when razing Jewish buildings. However, there is no excuse for Jewish buildings to be razed in the first place. It is a racist criminal act. They would never dare raze Arab buildings on a large scale. The answer is to put an end to the criminal razing and bring those who ordered it to justice.
