My understanding as a kid was that God turned up in the form of a human called Jesus and then engineered his own death in order to take away everone's sins .. The fact that he was helped in this project by the Jews suggests some thanks would be in order. I was not taught that we owed the Jews a debt of gratitude for helping God carry out this stunt. Whether or not Jews killed Christ or not shouldn't really matter a few thousand years after the fact, should it? If it did, it would mean that Jews should still be exacting revenge on Muslims and peoples all over the world who have been killed and conquered by others should also still be exacting revenge. Further, if Christians claim that Jesus was God or Son of God, then he was immortal, wasn't he? Or at least he was no ordinary Man, so the resentment and hate is totally irrational to begin with.
