61. US policy failing to see peace is not achievable
(03.03.11)
The US is applying pressure on the only side of the 2 belligerants they have an influence & the only one whose democratic regime is credible to keep respecting the terms of a peace deal. On the other side you have a small minority who is scared to negociate & to compromise under the violent threats of a majority of extremists who would be determined & able anytime to crush any peace agreement while taking advantage of Israel's reduced security to gain further military power. The US is failing to recognize the priority of dealing with the root causes which prevent peace: the funding, military & political support of the rogue states like Iran, Syria & their proxies in Lebanon, Gaza & soon possibly in Egypt if the current turmoil ends up badly with Islamists gaining strength. So the Israeli government is right in being in no hurry to sign a fake peace deal whose only merit would be to help the Obama administration score a political point in preparation for the next presidential elections. Israel would be left with no real peace but with a real & dangerous new situation.
62. Obama has 12 months left to focus
Jordan ,   Palestine   (03.03.11)
on what really matters to the US- our economy, our wars in several fronts, etc. The last year of a president's term, the president is largely irrelevant, as the opposition doesnt want to do him any favoprs to get re elected. Israel, pursue your interest, BUT MAY I SUGGEST THAT YOU COME OUT WITH IT ALREADY AND PUT JORDAN ON THE TABLE? I think this is best.
63. The Robert Mugabe of American foreign policy doesn't get it
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (03.03.11)
The problem is not naivete but a bigoted, warped perspective coming from 20 years of indoctrination with Rev. Wright's poison. Obama thinks the Palestinians are not confident of Israel's willingness to offer them anything?? Well, after Abbas announced loudly and publically he would 'never" accept Obama's "2 states for 2 peoples", that he would "never" recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people, that he would "never" give up the idiotic Right of Return to israel, and would "never" compromise on getting all of Jerusalem that he wants - I would say that Abbas has a fairly accurate lack of "confidence", because Bibi is not a complete imbecile. Why is Obama not telling Abbas bluntly and publically "NO" to Right of Return in any form, as he whines to israel about "settlements"? This is ill-will, not "naivete". And with the non-elected Abbas not even representing the 50% of his people under the rule of the Hamas rocketocracy in Gazastan, why should Bibi give him anything - what, so W. Bank Arabs can have a state while the Gaza Arabs fight for even more?? There is no process to create a "unity" one government PA that passes the laugh test, and yet Obama still demands that israel give something for nothing. Obama's blythe pronouncement that "the Arab areas of Jerusalem will go to the PA" flies in the face of a 1994 US law recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and only of Israel. Bibi is correct to ignore this clown, and those Jewish Leaders who determined that Obama's behavior confirms "their worst fears" have a moral duty to put the whistle to their lips and blow - so no more Jewish votes and Jewish money backing this bastard and the Democrat Party until he is voted OUT in 2012. WE need to send a message, no more political correctness, this guy is our enemy, and so are the Democrats if they don't dump him.
64. Did any one of these VIPs tell Obama he's wrong!!!
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (03.03.11)
Do people go to meeting like this and sit with their mouths closed???? What's wrong with you guys? Obama is not Gadaffe. If you are invited to a meeting with him, tell him what you really think. Or did he only invite those who he knows support him, a bunch of YES men.
65. OBAMA IS AMERICAN, DUH
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (03.03.11)
I must question the allegiance of any US poster who puts the needs of a foreign nation, any nation, ahead of their own. Israel does not get a "pass" when it comes to national conduct. Perhaps national interests coincide, but me thinks that most of you folks are Jewish first and American second. And no, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Israel and the rest of the ME gang should all be held accountable. The US President and Congress are charged by the Constitution to act in the nation's (US, not Isarel) best interest. Get over it. Move to the ME, renounce your US citizenship and post from there; at least then most of the rest of us would respect your opinions as genuine. As an American, I am disgusted by the conduct of US citizens and government representative who sell out the national good (yes, that includes oil) due to corruption, undue influence (bullying) or fear. Obama or any other US President has to stand up for America, not kiss the rear ends of these lobbying rabbles.
66. The Temple Mount...,..
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (03.03.11)
This vicious antisemite can't wait to destroy Judaism by depriving it of its most sacred site. Unfortunately he's still very strong among his most loyal supporters the assimilated jewish liberals. Don't be surprised if he gets reelected.
67. Hilary & Barak: no logic
Joe ,   Canada   (03.03.11)
According to the medias "Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused Iran of using its Lebanese surrogate Hizballah to shape events in the Arab world". If that is Washington's State Department thinking why is the US administration keeping the pressure on Israel to negociate a fake peace deal with the Palestinians? If achieved it would not decrease the determination of the dictatorial regime in Iran & its loyal proxies nor reduce its influence on the majority of Sunni Muslims who have been led to believe that Iran will deliver its promise to wipe Israel off the map. When Iranian & some Saudi petrodollars stop feeding the fires of war, then peace may have a chance.
68. Impeach obama-He is Incompetent !!!
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (03.03.11)
He does not want to admit, the problems are with the muslim arabs. They want all of Israel and the Jewish leaders need to support Israel and draw a the line in the sand. No more negotiations ,until Israeli demands are met. Otherwise obama needs to go back to kenya and visit his relatives. He is a farce and the worst US president ever !!!
69. Mr. Obama, You must show the colors of truth and SEE that
Robim   (03.03.11)
Mr. Obama, You must show the colors of truth and SEE that Israel is not the problem. The ZERO SUM GAME is the Arab/Moslem mentality which is catching up with you as well. So Do NOT tread on Jews to look nutural. GO AND SEE WHAT OSLO AGREEMENT DID. or maybe you were dipers then.
70. #65, Correct u r. Negative posters are spoiled brats. Shame!
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.03.11)
71. To: Jehudah at No. 49
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.11)
Agreed. I just included that in the seven decades of ersatz "Palestinian" terror.
72. #65--I am an American Jew and support Israel
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (03.03.11)
Your stupid ,racist comment is typical of small minded racists. We are a minority and a oppressed minority for 2000 years from so-called christians and muslims. If you do want to understand my loyalty to Israel you can kiss my ...... and go to HELL. Many, like you want Israel to disappear but it won't !!!
73. Is this hack for real!!!!!???
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (03.03.11)
Israel must not be driven into making dangerous concessions of peace by creating another Gaza in Judea and Samaria. obama is a mohammedan and ashamed to admit it. He also wants to weaken Israel so Bibi - you must say NO!
74. To: No. 53
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.11)
Never been healthier, dear, but I appreciate your entirely fraudulent concern for my well-being. While I thank you for attempting to advise me with respect to the "appropriate" address to which grievances should be directed, I'm afraid that it would be a waste of time. Jerusalem is not "occupied," therefore my letter would be returned to sender; addressee unknown.
75. To: Shalom at No. 66
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.11)
Not a chance! Have you seen his approval and popularity ratings? Obama is presently the most unpopular present ever. The way he has botched U.S. foreign policy, catered to Islamic fundamentalism and abandoned loyal allies such as Ben Ali and Mubarak, thus throwing the entire Arab and Islamic world into total upheaval, odds are that Obama will not even be nominated to run a second term!
76. #65 Frank-el
GOOD ,   USA/IL   (03.03.11)
Being for Israel doesn't make you anti-American and people are free to disagree with the president and the way he conducts his foreign policy. Israel is the best and most reliable ally the USA ever had. Not one drop of American blood was ever shed for Israel while Hundreds of thousands of American soldiers gave their lives for Europe (twice), Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and more. Unlike you, most Americans believe that what's good for Israel is good for America. Obama doesn't stand up for America, he stands up for the perpetrators of 9/11 and their supporters.
77. Naively, I thought Obama changed. His hate of Israel/Jews is
Deb S. Gold ,   Boston, MA USA   (03.03.11)
clearly very much in tact. I can't see why Jews would ever help this man reoccupy the Oval Office. Also, note how he finds the time to push Israel to take security risks while the entire region is experiencing regime earth quakes that make one question how reliable any agreement with these people.
78. Obama lost my vote a long time ago...
Lobo ,   USA   (03.03.11)
And he won't be getting it back. While Obama's domestic policy has shown his incompetence, his lack of knowledge (or bleeding liberal heart) in foreign policy matters scares the hell out of many Americans. Fortunately, we're not as naive as he thinks. Americans don't make the same mistake twice, and November 2012 will not come soon enough.
79. #75 Anglo olim please help us stop BHO's reelection
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.03.11)
Sarah, unfortunately Obama's approval ratings are enough to get him re-elected. He remains popular with 1/2 the US (I check daily at RealClearPolitics). Achim v'achot and especially olim who speak and write English, we need your help. Israel can't survive 4 more years of Obama. He will keep pushing until he gets his way (Pal state w/ E. J'lem as capital). US Jews get their information from the leftist news media who still love Obama. Explain to your American friends and relatives why they must not vote for Obama in 2012. In 2008, Palestinians and other Arabs helped Obama (they sent him illegal campaign donations) and they will do so again. We must get US Jews to finally see the truth - starting now.
80. To: No. 65
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.11)
Do you think that turning from Tunisia's Ben Ali and Egypt's Mubarak -- both strong supporters of the United States -- and adding oil to the the flames currently coursing through the Arab and Islamic world which now threaten Saudi Arabia and the oil-producing Gulf states constitutes standing up for America? I don't. Please regale us with your pithy and astonishingly naive political commentary when the price of gasoline and home heating oil for the American consumer quadruples, and Iran steps in to fill the void vacated by the United States, thanks to the inept American commander in chief.
81. #76, NOT QUITE RIGHT
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (03.03.11)
Although I respect your opinion I never said that being for Israel is being anti-American. What I said is that Americans have to stand up for America first and foremost. It seems most US posters can't read their passports. Secondly, Canada is America's most valuable ally (peace, trade, support) and has been for some time. In American's public opinion the UK comes first as "most important" followed by Canada. Your comment about what's good for Israel is good for the USA is fine if you're Israeli. As an American you should say "what's good for US is good for Israel". You have the right equation but it's backwards. Last, many responsible people, Jews included, will point out that Israel and US support had a lot to do with 9/11 so don't tell me no US blood spilled for Israel. Tell that to the many killed and wounded on the USS Liberty by Israeli warplanes as well .
82. Obama deception
Zion-Ben-Judah ,   Waterville U.S.A   (03.04.11)
I noticed that some were convinced that Obama was on the side of Israel.I tried to warn people long ago that this man was not who he portends to be.They have been blinded by the evel spirit of antchrist and of Hasatan himself.I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Obama was the antichrist which was prophicied to come.I will say it again,,,,Watch Him Closely.Don't take him at his word.He claims there are many ways to get into the Kingdom of G-d.This is a lie right from the mouth of Hasatan.PA state? It could happen if you let him win your hearts. What does it profet a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul,or what will this man give in exchange for his soul?????
83. Joobama, U miss the point...
