1. these haredi probably cannot sleep, thinking of the tank top
jo   (03.06.11)
No one can dispute the fact that this city council are idiots, they put together the most odious device they could devise for our children,a " fence " so that when they grow up, hating will come naturally, just like the arabs kids. And all this for a "tank top". How despicable, how grotesque, and they call themselves Jews. I want to pewke!
2. haredim have one track minds

3. I have an idea how to solve this conflict .
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.06.11)
Listen: deport the Religious people to Afghanistan & deport the seculars to America ; ) How much we need to relax and calm .
4. # 3 reply to Salma.
jo   (03.06.11)
I have a fare better idea. Yours is not realistic, not feasable. Move 2 people, to 2 continents / countries apart, is a pipe dream A simplified, efficient, economical move; will only take minutes. Take your people to Jordan, build yourself a real country and be a good neighbor.
5. Is there a choice?
(03.06.11)
Do we want our religious children to learn immorality, corruption, bad manners and racism from secular G-dless and lawless families?
6. Unfortunately, 2# is correct
Lisa ,   Israel   (03.06.11)
One of the most disturbing things about haredi thinking is the sexualization of children. It is truly warped and ignorant to think that kindergarten children are sexual beings who will be turned on by teachers with short sleeves. It's the same kind of thinking that forces 3-year-old girls to cover up in case they will be sexually attractive. This obsession with modesty has the exact opposite of the desired effect: everything becomes sexual, even little children. The haredim need to get a life and stop thinking about sex all the time.
7. modesty; @#6 and others
Ahuva ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (03.06.11)
Actually, modesty has little if anything to do with sexuality; it is about downplaying the physical to emphasise the spiritual/intellectual. It is also not about what everyone else who sees you might think, but rather about how you see yourself. Al that aside, I think the fence is a sad and unfortunate symbol of our overly divisive society in Israel today.
8. 1 & 3 - SPOT ON!

9. Haredi separation fence
Beverly l ,   Jerusalem   (03.06.11)
I think if they are so insecure that they must isolate themselves from all temptation to the extent that they will forgo the precept of being part of Am Yisrael, then they should also not tae money from others because obviously women wearing tank tops, jeans, with uncovered elbows and knees and even unstockinged feet are behind the money they get. Rather than teaching others about the beauty of Judaism, they are creating sinat chinam - the cause of the destruction of the temple.
10. #3 Salma, I have a better idea
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.06.11)
Deport all your so-called Palestinian's to Jordan, then we'll all have one less problem to contend with, I will give you the honor of leading the parade BTW- What ever happened to the answers I asked for in my easy questions ? Got stumped ? Life would be so much easier, if you could convince us you belong here, I gave you more than one chance, which proves you're out of place
11. You really can't go by what Salma say's
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.06.11)
Muslim's will stone their women to death if an allegation has been made the woman had committed adultery If a young girl commits a sexual act outside of marriage, is caught, she'll be eliminated to restore the Family Honor Although that act may have been forced on her by a family member, such as a brother, father or an Uncle In one instance, the mother held the daughter in her arms, while she cut her throat like she was a sheep to be slaughtered

BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.06.11)
I am certainly neither a Haredi nor a prude Parents don’t' commit sexual acts while their parents are present, the try to keep the children innocent & protect them against the ways of the world for just as long as they can When children play, they experiment, “Show me yours, I’ll show you mine” Haredi don't want to live in a contemporary version of Sodom & Gomorrah, which would being destroyed because of their wickedness Let's assume you have young children, would you allow them to play in traffic unattended ? The world is such that contact among people of various persuasions are necessary, however they can and are restricted
13. Haredi, life in a bubble
mike ,   uk   (03.06.11)
This debate has nothing to do with sex and all to do with control, namely, the Rabbis trying to avoid all contact with the outside world. For sure the haredi accepts government handouts, but will not partcipate, communicate, recognise, empathize or deal with their fellow citizens - pull down these ghettoe walls now.
14. #10 BEN JABO ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.06.11)
No matter If you're not convinced, I'm convinced and that's enough : )
15. Short on NEWS? This is a NON article. 2 ganim, 2 yards - woo
L ,   Israel   (03.06.11)
One might ask why they don't just combine into one school altogether. There are obviously differences in lifestyle and ideals that these parents have CHOSEN FREELY to impart to their children. One group favors imparting freedom from constraint (in clothing, certain behaviors, from observing Shabbat or kashrut, perhaps) while the other group holds the laws of Torah dear and does not wish to be "rid" of them. There are two schools, why not two yards? I don't understand why this should be considered great breaking news. Ah, yes -- it's an opportunity not to be missed by ynet; another rallying cry of outrage at "those Haredim!" To be fair, I'm surprised that you actually quoted some parents of the Haredi school who also disliked the demarcation of each school's own private play areas.
16. Here's the REAL STORY I'm willing to bet:
(03.06.11)
They simply thought it easier for teachers to supervise their own school group in their own play area. Is is acceptable for a teacher from one school to chastise or punish a child who is not their student (ie: if they are biting, throwing sand, etc)? The separation of the yards was probably for that reason and the author, Mr. Efraim, asked the guy putting up the gate a leading question like: "do they need to this fence between the Haredi and the Secular?...I do you think it's a problem for Haredi kids to see a teacher in a tank top?" -- of course they don't mention that they asked a specific question designed to provoke a desired response and *voila*! Instant controversy where there wasn't any -- it is now "NEWS"!
17. seperation fence.
colin   (03.06.11)
The most terrible devision possible. Is this the same municipality that says there is" no money for education "-or -the fence is part of education expences.!!!!!!
18. To #5
Ronen ,   Ny   (03.06.11)
Your children don't need to learn from the secular because your religious communities are already full of corruption and immorality. I attended yeshivas throughout my life and there is no question that haredim are more immoral and racist than almost any other people. Stop hiding behind the cloak of religion.

Eliyahu ,   Chicago, IL   (03.07.11)
It would make more sense to just deport the Palestinians to Syria - where they came from.
21. What is G-d about?!
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (03.10.11)
B"H G-d precisely is about separation, read our Havdala prayer in any sidur
