1. Defaced shekel notes
Dave ,   Canada   (03.07.11)
They will be behaving as if they had burned their money- any self-respecting Israeli/Jew would refuse to accept such a defaced note as tender.
2. Great idea
elhrac ,   USA   (03.07.11)
destroy your own money.
3. Dave #1
Avi ,   Israel   (03.07.11)
You probably still whine over the Arab refusal of an independent Israel back in 1948. And you don't accept their desire for freedom. It's the same medallion with two faces.
4. phased solution against this
Golan ,   Modiin   (03.07.11)
1st, do not accept the notes. 2nd. if this does not work, write on top Free "Israel is" and under "Palestine" "never was"
5. Then the money will be useless and destroyed
Yaniv ,   Israel   (03.07.11)
6. Onslaught
Len ,   Australia   (03.07.11)
Free Palestine? Which exactly is Palestine? The West Bank? East Jerusalem? All Jeruslem? Tel Aviv? the Negev? The whole of Israel? Naive people who support these stupid "free Palestine" movements do not realize the instigators ulterior motives that "Palestine" means all of Israel. 77% of Israel (Palestine) was handed over to the Arabs and renamed Jordan. What was (is) left of Israel is still called Palestine by the Arabs and the UN which is grossly false because the division of Israel (Palestine)was supposed to be Jordan to go to the Palestinian Arabs under Hashemite rule and the remainder to make up the State of Israel, but the Arabs and the UN weren't satisfied and to this day keep pushing Israel to give up land. Do people seriously believe they will leave any land for the Jews after they get what they are now demanding? Study history and wait and see.
7. Delegitimization.
Jules   (03.07.11)
Just another "Pallinvention" to delegitimize Israel. Blowing themselves up in buses, discotheques and pizzerias didn't do them any good. They are trying other methods: pushing silly resolutions through the UN, establishing embassies of non-existing country, etc. Just signs of desperation. Nothing to worry about.
8. Excellent idea!
David ,   Canada   (03.07.11)
This is an excellent idea. I fully support non-violent and creative methods of protest such as this. Good luck.
9. Here's a response to "the message"
William ,   Israel   (03.07.11)
Pass a law that makes all defaced currency (especially with "Free Palestine" on it) null and void, and confiscate it. Not compensation to the holder. Treat it the same as counterfeit currency.
10. no to palestine
fad egypt   (03.07.11)
i entered a long dialouge with arabs online discussing this issue i showed them the evidence that proves that the palestinian people dont exist and that palestine is a myth and that the land belongs to the jews no one understood me all of them were blind with the false propaganda i want to say to the jewish people forget about the peace the arabs are hating you more than anything else they simply dont stand you and want to destroy you completely please god ve a mercy on your chosen people bless them and protect them amen shalom
11. I can sure see this one starting a revolution in Israel
zionist forever   (03.07.11)
Israel's will have seen this picture of defaced money on facebook so they are all going to gather in Kikar Rabin and demand the government is toppled and replaced with a government of the mobs choosing. In Israel just because nobody will change their political opinions just because some idiot has decided to write free palestine on it. Outside Israel nobody uses the shekel so doesn't really have much relevance does it? All thats going to happen is on somebody's facebook page your going to see a picture of some defaced money asking you to be their friend. These idiots have been watching a few to many arab revolutions.
12. I would not take that defaced money .....
rachel ,   usa   (03.07.11)
13. Simple Solution to the Problem:
Ethiojegna ,   Addis Ababa Ethiopia   (03.07.11)
All Israelis must refuse all currency defaced with "free palestine" and they will be impoverished. Think about it. Everytime they write on it, its tantamount to burning or ripping it. so they will take the losses, not Israel.
14. I'll gladly accept
Uri Horesh ,   Herzliyya, Israel   (03.07.11)
I am a self-respecting Israeli, and I - and many of my friends - will gladly accept such banknotes.
15. modified notes
john k   (03.07.11)
Me thinks if I added extra zero on a note, it wold make it a forgery or at less unfit to be used. Aren't those encouraging this activity really the conspirators to commit fraud?
16. Non-Violent ? - If the money starts ticking - RUN !
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (03.07.11)
Does this mean the Pals have finally realised that bombings and terrorist murders are not working anymore ?
17. Try "Jordan is Palestine" on the Jordanian currency
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (03.07.11)
18. "Free Israel" on dinars
smith   (03.07.11)
19. Actually...Jews should add on writing...
EST ,   Miami USA   (03.07.11)
Yes!!!Free Palestine, give it back to the original Palestinians = the Jews!!! and keep on circulating those shekel notes :-)
20. Better Than Suicide Bombing! <eom>
Ron ,   Boston, USA   (03.07.11)
21. writing Free Palestine on currency
Trudy ,   Burton, U.S.   (03.07.11)
I think this same group should write Free Palestine on U.S. currency, too. It seems a great way to 'peacefully' protest and American currency is the 'true enemy'
22. Defacing shekels
Ger ,   Raanana, Israel`   (03.07.11)
Any Israeli offered a defaced note in payment should refuse to accept it.
23. Excellent initiative, it will make Palestinians even poorer
donny   (03.07.11)
Very few Israelis will accept those bills, even the most sympathetic ones, because it will limit their ability to trade with other (right winged) Israelis. So they will politely ask for another bill. Those defaced bills will remain in circulation inside the Palestinian authority since only other Palestinians will be willing to accept them. This will give the Authority a new currency, virtually her own, only it will be called a "Shekel", and from there on, impediments will be put on commerce with Israel, which will send the already wobbling Palestinian economy into an even greater downhill spiral, possibly a financial breakdown. But hey, what's that versus a "peaceful initiative". Palestinians! Take it from someone who has seen a couple of things in his life: Stop terror, and plans of terror immediately. No strings attached, no preconditions no post-conditions, just cease it, and put the perpetrators in prison, and soon you will see that 90% of Israelis are more than happy to give you a state, trade with you, visit your cities for vacations and even give you free work permits into Israel.
24. Have Bank of Israel declare notes 'not legal tender'
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (03.07.11)

(03.07.11)
Judea called Palestine by the Romans after Bar Kokhba's revolt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Kokhba's_revolt
26. Elior....Ali Waked???
Paul ,   NYC   (03.07.11)
According to your articles you are trying to be like "Ali Waked". Stop the BS and write something good about your country. In rgrds to the the report....Arabs love to earn in NIS.
27. 'Free Palestine' on NIS
Dapper ,   USA   (03.07.11)
The idea is outright silly. The Bank of Israel should just refuse to take the defaced notes and that will be end of this nonsense.
28. shhh.... let them write, write, write, don't advise anything
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (03.07.11)
when the bank or majority of self-respecting jews don't accept the notes, THEY WILL GO BANKRUPT! HAHAHA, what a wonderful world then!
29. I felt uncomfortable about this
C ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.07.11)
because I felt it was anti-Israel but we criticize Palestinians for using violence- this is non-violent, specific about the West Bank and Gaza. We want Palestinians to behave but we criticize them when they do behave, we say why don't they try non-violence but ignore it when they do. we should start rewarding good behavior and yes, writing on bills is fine by me if it keeps me safe.
30. It's economical sabotage, stupid!
Mark ,   Maale Adumim, Israel   (03.07.11)
Actually, this "peaceful" protests amounts to economical sabotage - printing money costs ... money, and defaced money is as good as destroyed. Most probably, if anyone is stupid enough to join this "protest", it will backfire on palestinians - they will end up with bank notes that people and banks will refuse to accept. From what I know about palestinians - street smart people, not "revolutionary" leaders - they care enough about food on their table Good luck!
