1. Finally someone says it.
Ephraim   (03.08.11)
Self defense is everyone's right.
2. SOS Chairman
Joseph Charlap ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.11)
Wolpo should be arrested and sentence to imprisonment on charges of incidement and stripped of his credientials as a Rabbi.
3. speaking the truth
Marcel ,   Florida   (03.08.11)
I agree with the Rabbi. Better to get rid of Barak and his poodle Netanyahu, both agents of foreign powers than have a civil war.
4. Wolpo does not speak for the Jews of Yesha
Proud mitnachel ,   Shomron   (03.08.11)
He is a messianic Chabadnik who only speaks for himslef and maybe a few other messianic Chabadniks who do not even serve in the army. This should not be considered newsworthy any more than anyone else with no support making ridiculous statements.
5. Better Idea
Yonatan ,   Rishon Letzion   (03.08.11)
I understand his anger and I think it's justified. But Jews should not set upon other Jews unless their lives or the lives of other innocent Jews are in immediate danger. I suggest civil disobedience as a better option. Fewer people will get hurt and it could possibly receive more positive attention. That is to say it could encourage people to sympathize with them and their plight. It certainly hasn't been tried to the full extent possible yet. Even though I admit I don't think the settlers have used force to any considerable degree yet. Their actions have not been particularly violent or perfectly peaceful. They have demonstrated restraint and moderate resistance. The incident at Gilad Farm was an overreaction on the part of the soldiers. Let the Jewish "settlers" demonstrate their moral superiority. Perhaps the average citizen will sympathize with them after witnessing their nonviolent protests. Perhaps not. Worth a shot. However, if any innocent Jew's life is in immediate danger I would urge them to use whatever means necessary to defend that person or themselves. I don't claim to have all the answers. It's just an idea I think worth trying.
6. Let's Not Forget Who Shot First...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.08.11)
...and then fist-bumped with fellow shooters!
7. A divided society
Yobo ,   Australia   (03.08.11)
It is only a matter of time that Israel will ignite into an unstoppable conflagration between the deep divide in their society aided and abetted by dysfunctional and corrupt political system. Will they have to learn from their Middle East Arab brethren who have revolted into anarchy?
8. 1. Ephraim
solomon ,   bklyn   (03.08.11)
To resist law officers in carrying out official duties if you happen not to agree with those duties is NOT self-defense; it is anarchy. Anarchy in not a right. When people go against legel actions by the state, and protest violently, they are responsible for what happens next. You want the state/IDF to protect you? Then abide by the law and fight legally, in the courts, not like hooligans.
9. if you think he is kidding he is not
Dan   (03.08.11)
this is in the making for about 20 years now and those loonies are more dangerous than iran and hezbo combined. they either will turn israel into jeish iran but much worse or bring a war that will end israel from within.
10. No #2
JB ,   Rehovot Israel   (03.08.11)
It's only incitement if you're the one who starts the violence. Barak's lap dogs have no problem shooting us, and just like under any unfriendly regime, people have to make choices. Just like the European Jews of the 1930s, you can surrender, fight, or emigrate. Some will do each of those.
11. Imam Wolpo
David ,   Israel   (03.08.11)
Preaching hatred and incitement--this "Rabbi" must have attended the same school as the violent Wahabi imams that preach the same hate and violence.
12. It's grim but it's the truth.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.08.11)
It's far better to face the truth in all it's ugliness than perpetuate pleasant delusions. Had European Jews faced the grim truth about Hitler early enough, millions could have been saved. Rabbi Wolpo's remarks about Israel's leaders are, unfortunately, almost 100% correct. A major patriotic uprising is needed to destroy the appeasement cancer which is eating at the heart of Israel.
13. who's inciting whom?
pinchas ,   boston   (03.08.11)
barak is trying to show the left he's tough on the settlers. bibi says ok, because he wants to show obama and the EU that he too is tough on the settlers. the israeli politzei want to show the arab world that they are do not discriminate against the arab because they also are tough on the settlers. I expect the next thing will be for Rabbi Wolpo to be arrested for incitement. After all, WE ALL should to be tough on the settlers, shouldn't we? Especially when the rabbi's call for self-defense and his prediction of civil war can easily be twisted by leftist journalists and a gullible public into incitement and a call for breaking the law. Bottomline: Re civil war, it's pretty obvious that the anti-settlers are the inciters, the ones lighting the match, not the settlers.
14. A rabbi with guts - Honest and sensible
Norman   (03.08.11)
15. This filthy man should be arrested.
Riki ,   Tel Aviv   (03.08.11)
16. Are you peaceniks for real?
moriah ,   sacramento usa   (03.08.11)
You really want to throw the Jews out of Judea and Samaria so Arabs can shoot rockets at Israel from there? You don't think that this will be the logical outcome of this stupid social experiment that failed years and years and years ago? Is there peace in Gaza? How much further are you willing to go out of your hatred for the religious? How much Jewish blood do you want on your hands?
17. Kahane Lives
blash ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.11)
This is what happens when the Left uses anti-discrimination laws to shut out the voices of the Right. Everyone deserves a voice, and Kahane's voice was muted before he was projected to win 12 seats in the Knesset. When people cannot talk, they act. Civil war is inevitable at this point unless Barak backs down.
18. There is an alternative
Shalom ,   rishon l'tzion   (03.08.11)
Just make paece, defensible borders and leave them where they are. HaShem will provide the answer.
19. Lost Rabbi
Sam ,   USA   (03.08.11)
"Rabbi" Wolpe should give back his smicha, his unbelievable misconstrued set of values and keep his mouth shut. Anyone who preaches firing on the Israeli army is a misguided terrorist.
20. I've seen how trigger-happy they are
Kurt ,   USA   (03.08.11)
And the soldiers think they're on a paintball range. I don't see a lot of discipline in the ranks. When they're shooting settlers with rubber bullets to put them down before a confrontation, it's instigation. One round to the face and it could blind or kill. Is that the goal here? Someone needs to be a leader and not let this happen again. Do the settlers need to arm themselves? Yes.
21. Plain & Simple
Avraham ,   New York   (03.08.11)
Is it not true that Hamas and the soldiers (more like Barak and the similarly corrupt and short sighted MK's) are doing the same thing? evacuating and destroying the homes of Innocent civilians trying to live normal and meaningful lives!
22. Civil war and Mideast war at same time?
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.08.11)
Liberal Jews vs Conservative Jews. Secular Jews vs Religious Jews. We are fighting among ourselves not only in Israel, but also in the US and elsewhere in the Diaspora. Meanwhile, the Middle East is on its way to becoming an Islamic caliphate with its center in Teheran - with nuclear missiles pointed at little Israel. We must (somehow) unite to defend ourselves. If we can't come together to fight for Jewish survival, we will (G-d forbid) have a repeat of the Holocaust.
23. There will be a civil war, no doubt. Haredim will lose.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.08.11)
24. Rabbi
irv ,   usa   (03.08.11)
When Israel will begin to fight her true enemies all jews will be able to live anywhere in Israel.
25. civil war looming
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (03.08.11)
Incitement to riot should be treated like any other crime against the rule of law. Settlers have been allowed to occupy land they do not own and harrass or even physically harm Palestinian neighbors without much real consequence. Does the good Rabbi realize that he is calling for civil war, pitting Jew against Jew, just when Israel is at its weakest in the international community and the Mideast is in turmoil? Does he really care about Israel?
26. Is that a whiff of Tahrir Sq. air blowing our way..?
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.08.11)
It sure smells funny!
27. Civil War and riots is how it's done in the ME these days
(03.08.11)
to get rid of Israel's non-democratic dictatorship run by Barak, Bibi and the self-appointed-for-life-non-democratic-corrupt-judicial-system, comprised of haughty judges who believe they are super human and above the law and the ones running the country behind the scene and do not give a hoot about the non-Left citizens.
28. Sounds like....
Moshe ,   Jeruslem   (03.08.11)
Coming from the "old country," I am one who cherishes the doctrine of free speech. But this sure sounds like criminal incitement to me. Not to mention the epitome of ingratitude. Probably insanity, as well. If not for the army, our precious settlers would have been wiped out long ago.
29. mishugina
chaim ,   gesher tzar meod   (03.08.11)
stop wolf-crying. silence the alarm. there will be no civil war. most occupiers will fold, davanning and fussing like they did in gaza. get over the green line and strengthen israel's sovereignty. it's about time WE take back our country from these crazy-eyed kitzonim.
30. #1 that means its time for the West to arm Palestine
Hostage   (03.08.11)
They have the right to defend themselves for illegal outposts
